I feel like blocking will end up being a big strategy for me, lol.

It will be. The final stretch is where the AI wake up and realize they have faster cars. It's a freaking turf war once you take the lead. I finish most of my races looking at the rear view mirror! :D

So yes, it can be pretty darn annoying if they zoom past you after you have been in the lead for most of the race. But it is possible to block them. In a sense, both Rushy and those complaining aren't wrong. The AI does dial up their aggression towards the end of a race, but within technical specs.

You deleted the whole game? And plan to download it all over again?

Why not just leave it to the side of the scroll bar.....and come back to it later? What games do you own that you still play?

It's called rage-delete :p

I couldn't resist anymore... Kept debaiting with myself, but I don't have much to play on my Ps4 till November so I surrendered to myself.

Agreed. It's also unfortunate weather and photo mode didn't make the cut for launch. I feel like these two things will add a heck of a lot to the game, especially weather. DC's implementation of it looks head and shoulders above other racers.

Any idea when they plan to implement the weather? It has been stunning even without it but looking forward to that rain etc

So, did they just leave the servers in shambles for the whole weekend, or do we expect an update on the server situation today?

Last tweet from either Rushy or the DRIVECLUB account was 23 hours ago, which was yesterday's update...

Anyway playing online right now...just getting use to racing other folks....There is a real skill to surviving the first corner, while still trying to not get too far behind the leader in the early going.

I believe only one review has docked points. Weren't 90 percent of reviews out before the whole server debacle. I'm sure I remember polygon or other sites lowering scores on games due to server issues?

Im not sure thats what I was originally asking. I was curious if it had happened before with review scores being penalized after release for broken servers.

I'll leave the review talk for the review thread now :)

Is anyone having luck matchmaking with some friends today?

I'm wonderiing if/when the online stuff is fixed, will I be able to delete my save data and start the tour over? It seems like the only way to get enough points to raise your club level atm.
Yes you can, and in my case, I kept my driver level and car unlocks, but lost my accolades.

When I see it I'm reminded that the games online is still completely broken which is frustrating.

That would be awesome. I noticed when I was playing that a message popped up after connecting saying "PROGRESS UPDATE". Then it showed my club level go up. Is this points that I have earned while offline going towards my club level or is it just the point that my club members have gained since I was last online?

My score for this game is 3.5/10. The good bits are:

- real life cars (although they're all locked so can't actually use any of them. How retro is that)
- tracks are fairly fun
- nice graphics here and there eg sunsets
- races can be fun

The bad bits are:

- fucking collision penalties
- fucking corner penalties
- you start off being able to play with only one car, and then after a day all u still have is hatchbacks
- the graphics on daytime non-sunset tracks are actually really average, and arguably below average. No one is admitting this but I'm really underwhelmed at times. This is not a game to be used to show off your ps4.
- it's unacceptable that weather isn't available. At this rate I'm going to complete the game and sell it by the time the weather is added in. The rainy tracks on YouTube are the reason I was so impressed, but that's not been delivered
- lack of split screen. No bullshit, no excuses: if u can't get ur racing game to have splitscreen, YOU HAVE FUCKING FAILED. Don't believe the bullshit you hear: motorstorm sequels had splitscreen and it was fine. The only reason they don't add it in is because they put it at the bottom of their priority list. Well when I sell this game on as it has no replay value with my friends, don't get pissed off evolution
- motortorm was more next gen. It had deformable tracks, which was actually really cool. There is nothing about this game which couldn't have been done on the PS3
- motorstorm was more fun
- really soulless. Doesn't seem to have any personality at all
- people weren't kidding about corridors. As soon as u leave the track by a metre, a countdown starts before it automatically puts u back. Invisible walls exist and are bizarrely close to the track. Feels like a nineties game.
- no customisation
- nothing 'original' or new. What does this game bring to the table? It's like a ps1 racing game without the splitscreen options, so objectively worse.

The ultimate fact is this: if this was not an exclusive title, nobody would give a flying fuck about this game. There will be no Driveclub 2 because this game is a top down failure: mechanically and graphically it is serviceable, but it brings nothing new to the table, is soulless as fuck, has some terrible design choices, has no splitscreen, and is actually not what we were promised. Once the free version comes out on ps4, sales will flatline.

I havent seen what i would consider to be rubberbanding, but i think when you are ahead the other drivers just hit corners better, and are able to drive out of them faster . I dont think the actual cars are doing anything beyond their capabilities/getting spec boosts when behind.

If you are in front you better hit those corners right, i tapped the brake last night in a long sweeper by mistake and on the following stretch of road 3 cars got by me cause i scrubbed just that tiny amount of speed.

Ad some cars are just faster in a straight line, know your enemy :)

What i noticed is that if you get left behind, it seems easy to catch up, but if you're way ahead it's hard to get away..

maybe this is rubberbanding 2.00

How would you see it? Is it the only game u own?
Ive got several games but the game icon is on the games toolbar which is always visible. I just don't want to see it until things are fixed. That's all. I'm not a big fan of the buyers remorse I get hit with when I sit down to game.

Yes!!!

Wasn't too bad with the Venom.

First race I finished 2nd... and I thought, oh well, I'll win the next 2.
Then I was 2nd again... but leading the championship, tied with 2nd.
All or nothing in the last race. And I won.

Club level went from 8 to 10 rightaway. Another trophy.

How is it that I could get in to races last night yet now I can't even connect online. I'm not playing anymore until I'm at least connected to my club, this is ridiculous.

Ugh, I still can't get online. I want to play, but I'm not touching what little I have left of the tour until this shit works. I'm seriously considering deleting my save file and restarting the tour once I'm in a club.

Can't believe the pre-order cars still aren't up, unlike the other problems, I can't imagine this is server related, especially when one free car is available to download for everybody.

Any chance you could grab some video of this? I've seen tons of people make reference to the specific scenario, but I haven't seen it in action. Rushy personally addressed one of my posts that it wasn't something the game could/would do, but people who aren't exactly unreasonable about this stuff have said that it doesn't seem to be the case.
It does seem almost inevitable that while on the long straights, you will be bum rushed by a load of fast moving AI.

Even when the reason you've been able to the the lead is due to cornering well and getting get acceleration on exit.

Only thing I can think of is that the AI is driving cars that move ass on straights compared to mine.

Then again this:

What i noticed is that if you get left behind, it seems easy to catch up, but if you're way ahead it's hard to get away..

maybe this is rubberbanding 2.00

Is absolutely true.

The weirdest thing is when you accidentally miss a turn and get a corner penalty slow down, but for some reason the AI are still five feet in front of you for the whole five seconds I'm stuck going 50 in second gear....

If you played for a day and only had hatchbacks, good luck on finishing the Tour before the weather update.

What do you mean by "non-sunset" tracks? I know the tour races have a preset time of day but you can race on any track at any time of day you want. There aren't "time of day" specific tracks.

Sony just put in my request for a refund. May or may not go through, but they did acknowledge they are getting a lot of calls regarding DriveClub. I told them they can put the $50 into my PSN wallet and if Evolution sorts out the servers, I may buy it again. Having not once been able to get online since the game launched may be acceptable for some, but to me it is not.

Thread's been a little negative over the last few pages so here's something you guys might enjoy, hopefully it'll convince some people who are on the fence too...

I still can't 3 star all of them even with that knowledge.

Same here. I managed to get two stars on the second drift challenge but absolutely get the third (haven't even come close really). If anybody has any pointers on these, I'm all ears because obviously I can't figure it out on my own.

What did I miss? I still can't get online. Not once since I bought this game day 1. sigh... Oh well back to time trials. Who is this Scooty McNut? I didn't know Giant Bomb visited Neogaf.

Ok, I have to get this off my chest. These corner and collision pentalties need to be removed. Stalling my engine because someone slammed into me is just not right. I don't know about you guys, but it greatly affects me when someone purposely slams into me online. -_-
Yeah i bet that will be tactic nr 1 online.
