And it deserves new thread because it is awesome.
First, how to get it:
All backers from Baron and up, both on Kickstarter and on:
http://kingdomcomerpg.com/pledges/#tier
automatically get steam key for it.
It is 2.4GB download, 4GB when installed.

What does the alpha contain?

One small village (called Samopše) and a piece of surroundings including beautiful forest. Two miniquests and some (unvoiced) dialogue. NPC Live cycle and day/night changes.

There was a livestream with creative director and community manager, which was an excersise in unintended hilarity:

After the first alpha update on 19.12.2014, there is also another larger quest and alchemy that can be performed, plus some bugs got fixed.

How it runs on my system?
1080p + very high preset (maximum), I get around 45fps. That is on 2500K@4ghz, AMD 280X, 8GBRAM.
Pretty good for unoptimized alpha (extremely unoptimized - they only used nVidias up until now!).
There are some graphical bugs on AMD cards, namely water shader is pink, but that will be fixed and otherwise the alpha is stable and working.

Developers intend to update the alpha every few months with new features as they get finished. Next update should be before or after Christmas time.

Would love to try it but really not interested in trying now I know what the Creative Director/Owner of the studio is like.

Shamelessly in support of Gamergate. I'm not hugely involved, but any adult or industry member who's fine with what's happening is pretty ignorant in my book.

Sucks for me, cus the game looks nice, right up my street.

The alpha is gorgeous. I waited last night until they finally managed to have a stable version and it paid off in full. They have a great community manager and following what happened yesterdays with all the bumps and hops and the final success was a great experience on its own. I can't wait to jump in again tonight in the alpha.

Yeah Tobi is awesome. I was following it too and the amount of interaction there is great.

The only release date (for all platforms) is Q4 2015, but I would not be surprised by a delay. It will be a huge thing and they have only 70 people.

Ummm, it's a medieval RPG? So in the full game you will do RPG stuff, like talk to people, do stuff for them (like investigate crimes and things like that), fight, create potions..

The Alpha is mostly for testing graphics and stuff written in OP, it does not feature the whole world/story/quests etc (because that stuff is not finished).

Weirldy enought, first time I started it it crashed for me too within a minute (but only game, not the PC). When I started it the second time it was rock stable until I quit it.

Holy shit this is amazing! I cant wait for this to release. Its like a much prettier Elder Scrolls set in actual medieval history. More games should be set in medieval times

This game looks like itll be rather good. Im curios to see how the combat and large battles end up playing out. Either way this game looks like it is coming along great, think I might pledge since it looks like something I would play anyways.

Really like the clean, natural art style. Truly looks like medieval English countryside, rather than some fantasy Middle Ages setting.

Then just play it, dude. Who cares what the creator thinks? You really think whether you choose to support this game or not is going to appreciably affect your life? Don't deny yourself things you'd enjoy because of other people.

I can get over something like this, even if I think the guy is a numpty. The lead guy of that Hatred game, though? No way would he ever get my money. That is where the line is for me.

What I liked the most is the transition from daylight into night time, and the difference between darkness in the forest and the village. In the forest, during the night you can see just what is immediately in front of you, and badly, as well as tons of fireflies (yay).
In the village you can see lot more and the lightning effects from lantern and smithy are just great. And moon being reflected in the mud puddles is nice.

Yeah, I was interested also, until this. Screw that guy, he's not getting my money. Hopefully it'll be a PS+ offering sometime down the line... ;)
