They literally threw in as much 'fun' as they could into the game and left it at that. I really can't describe it any other way.

OMG, I'm watching it now, 10 minutes in, and it already makes the 3DS version look completely outdated. Even though the 3DS game is a great game on its own.

Wow. Looking amazing.

Just caught up. Absolutely incredible Direct. I can't wait for this.

I hate Ridley's Other M design, though, so seeing it was a bummer.
I also hope Mewtwo is not the only fighter we get as DLC.. This game has so much potential for longevity.

Closing the E3 2015 Direct with a New Challanger would be great.

I know I'm super late, as I didn't get to watch this awesome direct with you guys(skimming over the reactions in this thread now), but yeah... I was thinking the exact same thing!

Edit: This density of content is absolutely insane! Most publishers today would have milked at least 2 years worth of DLC from the modes/features this game will have day-1. Sakurai is a boss!

Can't see the direct at work. Can somebody explain how is assumed that Mewtwo will come in DLC and the details of the planned DLC?

He was shown at the end, stated to be downloadable. Will be free for owners of both versions of the game in spring 2015, implied that he would be "not free" for anyone else, pretty much confirmed to be paid dlc.

All this stuff, feels like Nintendo's biggest release ever. It's also the first game to use Amiibos. And there are already features coming after the game's release. The tables have turned.

Watched earlier today and I went from 'I enjoy the 3DS version and Wii U version will be fun too' to 'GOTY CONTENDER!' in a matter of 34 minutes.

Honestly, watching that direct made me realize just how much of a labor of love this game is. The fact that they've worked so hard to get 8 players working, include so much content and really make the game the best it's ever been is just so apparent. And the things they're doing for fans to ensure even the base game, outside of DLC, will last hundreds of hours are just amazing.

Sakurai and Nintendo are doing a really good thing with this. Smash looks great and as a former non-believer I'm glad I bought a Wii U.

I was disappointed to hear there are even less unlockable characters on the Wii u version. Fuck this shit. That's half the fun of Smash for me.

It's way too much.

I'm pretty sure I will be keeping this game all generation since that's how much fun and discovery it will last me. Mario Kart 8 failed on me with staying power, but Smash is here to stay. Can't wait.

Ive barely even played smashbros before (played the gc version for about an hour in single player when a friend lent it to me) but that just totally blew my mind. I seriously feel like I can buy it and not evn play the fighting game at all and still feel like I got my money's worth

They'll probably have it available for purchase some time after release and to satisfy those that both both versions

Wow. There is a substantial amount of content in the game it's almost unbelievable. Bursting at the seams rather than spilt over nickel and diming DLC (I naturally expect stage creator DLC). It's almost like no other game is really needed.

The Masterpiece section is brilliant. Can't even rely on Sega to throw in OutRun/Hangon/After Burner into Yakuza like they did with Shenmue. Great way to tie it to eshop as well.

Overall, this is a day one purchase.

I would rather pay for it before and play through it before the release of the sequel then get it along with the sequel. It's a fucking long game.

Hopefully the New 3DS version will come in good time and be a quality product.

But the biggest surprise for me is Art Academy mode .... I mean wtf at some of those drawings !
It has some powerfull tools =O
