Nintendo Amiibo Look a Bit Different in Final Production vs. Advertised

Not bad. Link is pretty bad tho. Why is he looking down?
In order for his foot to be touching the base, I guess. Really poor pose chosen for him, but I still think he looks pretty good. Nobody has gotten a good shot of his face, so I don't know how that looks, but other than that he looks perfectly fine, IMO

New pics (actually good ones too) showing the back and the front of the amiibos http://www.n1ntendo.nl/article/46584/1/betere-kijk-op-acht-amiibo-figuren-met-onze-nieuwe-fotoserie

Link's face looks good, I think this is the first picture of it that we've seen so far. Mario's overalls have the texture they did back at e3. I thought that was removed but apparently not.

These actually look better. Link's sword ain't bent, Kirby's mouth is centered, Mario and Samus look great.

My only reservation is if the faces of the more detailed characters (Link, or even Peach) are gonna look derped-out.
Link looks fine there, and there are better peach pictures out there, but yeah the more realistic ones will likely suffer a bit. Marth being the biggest offender so I'm guessing the other FE characters might be like that too

The more detailed pictures makes me feel better about Link, but the yellow stand still does not settle well for me. It should have been blue (like Fox) or clear.
Edit: I may get Yoshi since he is bound to work in Smash, Mario Party, and Mario Kart. 10 dollars isn't that much with the GCU discount.

Those aren't even real Nendoroids. They're knock offs and more inline with the Nendoroids Petit line, which are still $25 figures.

Either way, still a terrible comparison.

I wouldn't call Kyun Chara "knockoff Nendos"... Most don't have a 'value' since they are won as prizes. Not sure about how the Symphonia ones were originally acquired though.

Real Nendos are MUCH bigger than the Petit ones found in LEs.

Nintendo will release some amiibo figurines as “limited-time offers”

The amiibo figure lineup for “Super Smash Bros.” will continue to be released even after this year-end sales season, and we hope that this will help to update store shelves. As store shelf space is limited, some amiibo will remain stocked on the shelves as staple choices while some will be limited-time offers which will cede their positions to new ones once they are sold out.

Seemed pretty obvious. If they really are going to do every Smash character, there's no way stores would stock all 49 figures at the same time.
Also the fact that most like Wii Fit Trainer will never be used in any other games.
A good chunk of the figures will probably never be used outside of Smash.

Yeah..hmm..if some characters will be limited than I might buy them all for myself plus an extra to store away just in case they become valuable. I mean they can't really decrease in value.

When are these going to be on shelves? Same day as smash?

Figures look pretty good to me. Only real complain being the (pretty much expected) beefed up supports...but there are ways to deal with those.

It is hard to tell the price of figurines as ultimately it is a buyers market (Nintendo fans have been shown to be less than sane at times). As for decreasing in value I believe these did slightly.

I have no idea which way Amiibo will swing.

The Link one is just puzzling.

Why not just use a more straightforward standing pose and eliminate the need for the piss popsicle?

I guess they wanted to keep the poses from Smash 4, the huge foot on Wii Fit Trainer also looks really bad, I would prefer if they would have done straightfoward standing poses for all characters.

The idea was to replicate the pose of the Smash trophies which was a fine idea but I'd rather they scrapped that approach if they weren't going to be able to do it properly. I mean it's a pretty worthless endeavor now that they already had to make alterations to Link and Peach's trophies but I guess they were just too far along to do anything other than these incredibly lazy fixes. I'm sure the next set of amiibos will be better since they won't have to try and match up to anything.

Seriously, the quality of those seems a bit better than the recent Skylanders figures.

I compared the amiibos at the wal-mart display with the skylanders that were for sale and the skylanders are vastly superior in quality. What's even worse is the amiibos they had were probably handpicked out of thousands and they still had shit paint jobs.

Haters gonna hate, those look awesome.

overall, I agree.
Marth's face and partially Peach's too are still disappointing, and some "stand" is a bit too intrusive, but overall I really like them. Some details (Fox especially) or painting (Samus' ones for example) are really well done.
Some issue could easily be avoided simply picking the right statue at the store (as for the bended sword, it will be a production issue for some sample). For the price they are good, easily on par with Skylander or Infinite figures (also those have better figures aside worst ones)
Can't wait to pick some up!

Or for more than 400$ I can have this!

it's getting worse and worse on every news...

i mean, c'mon... i'm supposed to handpick the best looking toy from hundreds in store shelf?
what if i'm in a rush?
what if there's only one left?
what if my only option is to order them online?

the latest i heard is that these figures are technically made with SSB in mind. which means should another game comes out with amiibo in mind, they would probably make another set of amiibos with that specific game in mind.

which probably means there will be a better link. which are not pissing a popsicle.
and a better DK. which not sitting on a toilet.

imho, this product are most appealing to the hardcorest of hardcore nintendo collectors. that live in a first world countries. with first world wallets.
they almost rule me out from amiibo's target market with their own doings

Well I preordered Smash and the Link Amiibo and I bet it will look good in person and will good look if I finally clean up my office desk :D

If you're bothered by minor imperfections...then that's true of pretty much every painted toy/figure on the market.

UOT!?
It's not getting worst: this thread OP posted the first pics, and were ugly.
than we saw way better pics compared to those. how is getting worst?
plus, if a minor paint imperfection is bothering you, yes, you have to look closely: otherwise it means that it's not so bothering that imperfection.
And not, those are not appealing to the hardcorest of hardcore: for those, there are FIGMA of First Figures action figures: collectible statues for hundreds bucks.
This are 15$ toys.

If you're in a rush you pick the first one that looks Good Enough
If there's only one left you settle for that or decide to look elsewhere another time
If you're only option is to order online then you have to take the chance you get one that's got 'imperfections'

Pretty simple stuff, same as every other collectible.

Let aside quality downgrade due to price, I really don't understand DK's toilets and Link's yellow piss stands. How do they greenlight that? More importantly, who?

The stands are actually the only complaint I have. I'd much prefer a simplified pose without encasing figures in plastic stands, like Villager's ice-block foot or Wii Fit Trainer's ice-block shin. The quality of the figures are otherwise fine, IMO, given the price and that there is an NFC chip inside.

Donkey Kong toilet, Link piss tube, WiiFit Trainer's boot, and Samus' plastic platform is really bothering me.

Fox looks really bad...

Yoshi looks the best, then Kirby and Mario.

Maturity, bitches.
Maybe if you are super duper careful you can remove that transparent part from the WFT amiibo.

Pity about Link, but the rest look fine. Will still be picking up Mario, Villager, Samus - mayyyyyyyybe Pikachu.

Uh, my Tales of Symphonia Chronicles CE, came with 4 Nendoroids (maybe not genuine Nendoroids), but the price was about $100. It came with other stuff too. So if they were 30-40 dollars per figure, it should have sold for well over $200 then.

This is one of the better gymnastics posts I've read in a while. Good stuff.

I saw the definitive figures this weekend and wow, they ARE small. Thought they were bigger haha.

Then again, it wouldn't make sense for a Ridley-size amiibo to be put over the gamepad, you wouldn't be able to see the screen--

Oh, and amiibo Peach isn't that bad when you see it close, it's even cute. Marth though... well, rip in pieces Fire Emblem amiibos. At least Ike will have the "buff" card to play with.

there are difference between "minor imperfections" and "poorly made"

say.. when i buy a gundam scale model, i know that i will get a 99.9% perfect product
of course there are 0.01% chance of imperfection, but it's a "well made" product so the chance are that low

UOT!?

*getting worst by my personal observation over many threads and articles.

the first time it was announced, it looks like a premium grade toys. which was awesome and highly appealing to even the likes of me (not a nintendo stuff collector)

but suddenly link got that ugly-ass piss pole, yoshi got a seamline on his legs, wiifit trainer broke her leg then wear that cast of gypsum, and DK got that toilet, probably mexican food he ate after the initial announcement. they are definitely not the case on the prototypes

and then there's the paintjob and bending swords. with every details leaked, all i got was more bad news.

that's what i meant by "getting worse"

==========

$15 could get me a gundam. which like i said above: a well made product that's 99.9% of the time would be perfect made

i know, "so just get urself a goddam gundam u asshole! and get out of our thread!"

rest assure that is not a nintendo hater trying to stomp on the amiibo, this is more like a sad disappointment from fellow fan. because the prototypes are awfully nice it's misleading.
i understand that prototypes are supposed to be nice. but the gap of quality are just heartbreaking...

as a -very- casual nintendo stuff collector, at this point i probably won't buy them. but i will keep my eyes peeled for better lineup which i will buy. probably when nintendo have learned how to produced better amiibos with lower costs, just like bandai have with gundams
a more hardcore collector however, would most probably get each and every one of them. because they wouldn't want to miss any collectibles from nintendo. purely as a collectibles, without judging the price point. i mean, they even collected that cheap ass mcdonalds mario happy meals

and that's what i meant by "hardcore collectors"

If you're in a rush you pick the first one that looks Good Enough

dontlikething.png

of course. in the end, "stop fucking whining because nobody cares about your opinion"

but don't we all want a good looking product in our hand?
some collectibles did their fans enough justice that they didn't have to compromise with build quality. the initial prototype implied that.

it would be so much better world if nobody ended up with a link and a bended sword.
