PS4 FW 2.01 Live

They announced and release a big update like the 2.00 but don't notice such bug? It's discouraging. For a company like sony it's embarrassing.

You don't own a PC I take it?

Companies the size of Oracle release updates with bugs or patches that fix one problem but cause another. MS has patch Tuesday for Windows where IME I've had several issues that have forced me to roll the update back and wait for the fix.

Was anyone else's TV displaying in 720p before the update ?

They've added an add to my library option in the store when you buy stuff. I guess that's something.

Had a rest issue today when i got home from work. ps4 would not come out of rest mode. So i unplugged the power cord and the ps4 wouldn't turn on. After pressing eject and power button over and over again it eventually turned back on. This issue is no joke. Kind of fucked up.

That was in 2.00, it's pretty awesome for PS+ games that you don't want to download right away.

This was after you applied the 2.01? If so that sucks...means it's not fixed

It jumps speeds sporadically while downloading. I normally get ~7MB/s, and it will just randomly drop down to around 500kbps for awhile before going back to the normal speed. It extends download times quite a bit.

I've just downloaded the free PS+ games and noticed this issue going from 5-7MB/s down to 300-500kbps.

I've also purchased a powerline adapter today because the PS4 Wi-Fi is terrible and using the adapter for the first time I was worried that was causing the issue.

Even with the speed cutting out they downloaded way faster over LAN than my Wi-Fi did after the 2.0 update.

Yeah, put my ps4 in rest mode cuz it was supposedly fixed. Tried to wake it up just now, still isn't fixed cuz it's still got the orange light issue / not wakin up.

Since 2.01 I cant connect to other players in Destiny, and when going in a party it says I cant chat with others, it could be a nat issue.

Nothing in my router has changed, and I'm Nat Type 2.

Anyone else having this issue?
I power cycled my router and all attached devices, still happening.

They have to do something about these download speeds. There's no way I would ever buy a retail game off of PSN when I can't even download at more than 1 megabyte per second.

After waking up my console from 'Rest Mode' a few times it loaded up my PS4 in squashed 480p letterbox format. I couldn't fix it through the screen settings, I had to reset my PS4 to fix it.

Photoshopped this as I don't have a screenshot, but it looked exactly like this but in 480p:

There's no way to download the firmware from the Playstation site on a PC and install via USB with PS4 is there?

My internet is severely limited (15gb a month) so doing that at work on my PS3 really helped me save my bandwidth.

If you were forwarding any ports to your ps4 check to see your ps4 is still set to the same ip as before. If your connecting via automatic, do it manually and forward any psn ports. That sorted it for me.

SInce I installed 2.00 and with 2.01 too, my downloads are ridiculously slow. WTF? I test my internet and interestingly enough it show 55Mb of download (I always got less before, although I have a 50Mb internet), but the downloads always come at less than 1MB/s when it should be over 4 or 5.

Seems to be a common problem. I just tested a download on the PS3 and It's downloading at regular ( for PS3 ) speeds. Tis a terrible time of year to run in to bandwidth problems on PS4 PSN.

Why are people using rest anyway, its nearly just as fast loading up when its been turned off and unplugged then plugged back in? serious question, I just dont get it, the only thing it does is waste electricity.

Say you're at work and you have some downtime, you're looking at the PS store and find something that looks cool, you can purchase and tell it to download on your PS4. When you get home the game is installed and ready to go. Its all automated. Same with updates, saved game uploads, etc. Rest mode is more than just a standard "standby" function.

I use Rest to charge my controllers when I'm not playing. I actually have no idea if the USB ports are still powered when the system is 'off', I just assumed they wouldn't be.

The workaround for that is to set your PS4 to turn off after a certain period of inactivity (e.g. one hour). When you're finished using your PS4 just plug your controller in and turn off your TV. After an hour of charging your controller the PS4 will shut itself down.

That sounds complicated, definitely didnt have any ports forwarded.

Oh righty , I didnt bother with any of that I just download when I wanna play and wait the 20 mins till its done, I can see that being useful for people but not the end of the world that it isnt working for a few days tho. I dont think i could just leave it on in rest mode when out I would worry something would happen to it, I even unplug it when not in use lol.

Yup, I have this problem too. Was 3 or 4 megabytes a second before and now it's less than 1.

Is there any benefit to leaving my PS4 in REST MODE all the time?? I usually power it off unless I need to charge my controller or headset. Thanks GAF.

You can queue up to download games from the Sony store on your mobile device or computer even if you are away from your PS4.

For instance, if you were at work and had your ps4 in standby, you could buy COD AW digitally and when you got home it would be fully downloaded and installed.

USB ports keep charging whatever's plugged in, you download patches and updates in rest mode and it wakes up slightly faster than it starts up from scratch, that's about it.

You know for all the stability updates, it'd be nice if the UI didn't slug when you scroll through the 15 games horizontal bar list.

If you use remote play you can remote power up the PS4 if it is in rest mode.

Me too. Never had an issue with waiting. Never used standby/rest mode and I have no real interest in suspend resume either.

I dont even use it on my xbox one. When im done playing, I turn my consoles off at the plug. (I often pack my ps4 away too tbh)

Glad its fixed for people who care about that stuff though.

As for controller charging, I use my 5V phone charger for that. Much faster.

Never had a problem with rest mode.
Youtube didn't work logging in with my main Google account and I had to use my Google+ page account to login. I've tried to log out and now it works with my main account as well.
