Far Cry 4 Reviews Thread

FC3 ran superbly on the PC, I'm not to worried, this doesn't look like a major jump graphically.
Ditto. FC4 is an enhanced version of Dunia Engine 2 which was used for FC3. FC3 ran very well on my single 670. I expect FC4 is going to be stellar on my SLI 670's.

I'm still unsure how the coop works - is it just free roam / outposts that you can do in coop then? Not the actual story missions? What happens if you enter coop then go to do a mission, or is that just not possible?

Sweeeeet - cannot wait to get my hands on this. The lass who works the counter at my local Game was teasing me with the copies they had in stock ready for sale, yesterday, which was horrific, as I though FC3 was fantastic. What a bugger it comes out same day as GTA V remaster. :-/

Gamecentral - 9/10
It may not bring many new ideas to the table but this is a hugely enjoyable open world shooter, with the best co-op options in the genre.

Videogamer - 8/10
And there can be no doubt. Far Cry 4 is a superb Skinner box, staving off monotony with constant upgrades, and it's so expertly crafted to appeal to baser instincts, so rewarding of you embracing them, that there's a strong chance you'll miss the broader point that all of what you're doing is utterly despotic. Like, say, a dictator might. A lot of games are about killing. Far Cry is about hunting. They're not the same thing, and it is as disquieting as it is enjoyable.

glad to see those reviews. Fry Cry is probably my most favorite current FPS series. this seems to be 3 on steroids, which isn't a bad thing at all. will be picking this up

i'd presume, they'd just not let you talk to mission-givers / not trigger the mission upon entering the starting area.

Are you guys reading the text?

It sounds like the story and mission structure are worse than FC3.
It seems the exploration and gunplay are this games strong suit.

Woo! Glad I picked this as my free 970 game over Unity. I was torn for awhile.

I don't like that it's SO similar to Farcry 3 but hell, I enjoyed Farcry 3 so hopefully this won't be too samey to turn me off of it. I put a solid 40 hours into 3.

"More Far Cry 3" and good IQ is all I want from this game.

My only problem is I already purchased GTAV and I don't have time for both.

I will be strong, watching that PS4 stream the other night I could tell it was more Farcry3(which I loved) but I won't buy this game anytime soon.

Looks like Ubisoft is releasing at least one good game this November. And it looks like it doesn't run like ass on the superior platform.

Guys, I think I figured it out.

Review embargo = Game is underwhelming

No review embargo = Game is not underwhelming

No, they just choose to make some of their games with giant ad-hoc development teams and technical nightmares are often the result of that.
I bet Far Cry 4 also had a ton of other Ubi studios involved.

FC3 receiver similar praise and I was pretty disappointed by that, so I'll hold off until a price drop, probably.

As much as I liked FC3. I can't justify buying this game at full price.
Read past the scores, and it's FC3 with new paint.

Was FC4 not being built by one of those gigantic seven million person teams?

Fun game but a lot like FC3. Got it!

Should be a 7.5 for offering no innovation, doing the same as in previous games, too many filler bullshit quests.

Story is good and the freedom to take on missions your way is great.

Thats what I think by looking at the footage.

...but you can ride an Elephant in this game!

So far so good. I want to get this, but I'll wait for a price drop. I have DA:I to finish first.

The review from Eurogamer mentions "tearing up the space with a friend". Is there co-op in this game?

Assassin's Creed: The FPS? What am I missing here?

He probably means the same issues I had with FC3; rigid mission structure, no room for creative tackling of objectives, lots of things to do with no benefit or meaning in-game. Basically Ubisoft: The Game.

But I'm in if the story is any good. The one in 3 was effing terrible. Don't tell me I was supposed to hate the protagonist, it doesn't matter. If I hate the protagonist I can't really get into the game.
