If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.

This is my most anticipated, of the games that I thought were likely to be in that category. But no, lets settle for a game with less than 1 minute of footage, and anticipation based totally on legacy.

That's a fantastic bunch of games up for GOTY. Really glad to see Hearthstone in there as well. Unlike most years, I don't see one clear winner this time around, which is great.

That said, I find it funny that we have a category that pretty much comes down to GTAV vs. TLOU again lol. Ignite those old flames Geoff :)

FIFA 15 nominated as "best sport game" and PES 2015 don't... IT'S A FUCKING JOKE!

.

I actually didn't see that, what a travesty.

Non-football game fans: This would be like AC Unity being nominated for a 'best framerate award' over a game that ran at 240 fps

That "trending gamer" category makes me cringe...I really hope I don't have to sit through a PewDiePie award acceptance speech....ugh.
Also, I was reading the nominees on Gematsu (didn't get to watch the twitch). This is a great typo:

Best Fan Creation

Twitch Plays Pokemon
Luigi Death Stare
Mine the Diamond (Minecraft song)
Minecraft – TITAN City
Best Zelda Raper EVER!!!

Most of the nominees were pretty predictable for each category.

Overall solid nominees. A few eh choices in each category but mostly solid.

Kevin Spacey should 100% win for COD though. I thought he brought a ton to the narrative and was hella impressed with his facial capture / performance.

Dear god, lol. My bad on that one. xD

Anyway, there is a severe lack of Danganronpa on this list.

Jokes aside, anything else is absurd.

It works firstly, which rules out some of them, it included lots of DLC content, including the fairly recent single player DLC, and it not only saw a huge IQ bump, it also more than doubled performance.

It outclasses GTA5.

I don't know. isn't GTA including new gameplay options? If they are a lot of fun that refreshes the gameplay it is something to count enough in their favor.

But why do it this way? It forms a bit of a bias, don't you think?

Btw, I enjoyed the casual style of announcing the nominees! And good luck with the awards in December!

Yeah I agree, it's how the tool we are using for social voting works. I think we can turn on the percentages to show how much of the vote each game has, that might help clarify.

I was completely digging everything about TGA until I saw those fan categories... The E-Sports stuff is weird. I have absolutely no idea what the hell "Trending Gamer" even means, especially when it's filled with YouTube personalities and press.

Most Anticipated Game and Best Fan Creation are cool ideas though, but again... why?

I just want to see the spectacle of Jeff getting on stage and winning best "gamer" award, a term he personally hates

No Binding of Isaac in the indie section? Booo.

I really should give Hearthstone a spin.
It's a remake.

The first person perspective is a cool addition, and it does feel like a new way to play it, but it's not holistically integrated, it feels like an afterthought despite the substantial animation work. There are missions where it's just not at all practical, and there are times where the game just automatically kicks you out of it. It's cool, but I don't think it's comparable to colossally improving the base game as TLoU did.

Dark Souls 2 is my GOTY so far (might change tomorrow) and it's great seeing it up there. However, the line-up in general is very weak this year. Besides Nintendo, not much else out there that blew me away or even piqued my interest greatly. Fun games like Mario Kart 8 just don't cut it anymore it seems.

Surprised to see Infamous Second Son not nominated at all. It's arguably the PS4's best exclusive at the moment yet everyone has forgotten about it.

GTAV actually ADDED content though (including the 160+ new music tracks, the foliage, etc.), whereas TLOU just repackaged it's current content. I feel like GTAV is going to be the winner here.
