Am i the only person who feels disheartened by this clip
i do not like the camera work, It doesn't feel like star wars to me and its making me worried we're in for another CGI festival
Heis a stormtrooper, who is a deserter and abandons the Empire. The shot in the trailer is him after escaping his gunned down tie fighter.
We know a lot more now. This teaser backs up everything MakingStarWars has been saying. They even had a dead on description of the trailer shot by shot weeks ago. Some about their characters:
Boyega is a ex-Stormtrooper who is shot down and abandons the Empire. He is rescued by Daisy Ridley. Ridley, Boyega, and Ridley's little circle droid find a lightsaber in the desert. It is Luke's. They decided to go track down whose saber it is and head out on their adventure.
Ha ha. I'm not going to point to those movies as an example of what to do either.
Not nitpicky enough. Try harder!

when were lightsabers not incredibly dumb and unpractical with the only redeemable quality being that they looked futuristic and dope
But storm troopers dont pilot tie fighters, the tie fighters pilots have black outfits
What if the guy was a survivor of the elite squad we see a glimpse of. Maybe their drop ship gets hit and they all jump off or he survives the crash.
Or maybe that leak is real and he just took a random tie fighter that was parked in the hangar, waiting for an oil change, and escaped to Tatoine, where he ended up caught in the firefight between the Falcon and other tie fighters, and was eventually downed by Solo and Chiwie. Or he crashed.
I'm sorry, but who the hell is this things cinematographer?
Does not look good visually. All this bitching about the PT looking too clean and I can honestly say it looked like it carried over.
Also, can tell it's a JJ Abrams movie.
I fear the damage that the prequels dealt to my fandom has made me numb. Sure it's the Millenium Falcon and X-Wings and all the familiar sounds.... but I don't trust that anymore, wait and see!

If I was put in charge of making a new Star Wars movie, I wouldn't want to be tied down to dozens of novels written by different people that pigeon hole what you can and can't do with the movie.
The movies stand on their own. It's better this way. Less than 1% of Star Wars fans even know the books exist, let alone have read them.

Hmm... I always throught The Empire was some kind of space racist thing
Only if your acknowledge that the entire lightsaber as a concept is dumb.
I'm not sure what you mean? How would it feel like Star Wars? If it looked like a movie filmed in the late 70s?Am i the only person who feels disheartened by this clip

I get the imagery they are going for with the cross guard on the lightsaber and when you think of it from a practical standpoint it's something that should be on all lightsabers to protect the hands from someone sliding their saber down the edge and slicing off your fingers. The actual design of it is really stupid though since the protrusions would just get sliced off themselves making the cross guard useless.
Evyerthing else about the trailer was hype as fuck though!
A gross underestimate.
As a reference, when the Nazis started losing WWII they began to allow Sikhs and other "non-Aryans" into the SS.
What? Are you seriously trying to make the case that greater than 1% of people that have seen Star Wars have read the books?!
A gross underestimate.
It's probably DriverI damn well hope Gwendoline is swinging that sabre.
LIGHTKEEPER.
A gross underestimate.
A gross underestimate.
It's going to be visually interesting seeing a traditional lightsaber go up against the new design here. At the end of the day that's all that really matters to me when it comes to lightsabers, not the fucking magic science or practicality.
As long as it's choreographed better than the prequel fights.
