As far as I know, with the move re-learner, there isn't really a point to waiting to evolve anymore if you don't mind thiefing some fishies for 20 minutes or so to stock up on Heart Scales. RS are probably the easiest games in the entire series to farm Heart Scales in, and I doubt OR/AS is any different.

Unless I'm remembering wrong and the Move Re-Learner can't teach moves you missed by evolving (I was under the assumption it does).

Move re-learner can only teach your Pokemon moves it learned before (or would have but you passed on) as far as I know. It can't teach it something you missed due to evolving too early or whatever. My understanding of it anyway.

Partially. The move re-learner will now allow to relearn egg moves the pokemon knew at one point, but it won't let you learn moves that say only the earlier evolution can learn that you didn't learn, e.g. Shroomish's Spore or Mudkip's Hydro Pump.

AFAIK, pokemon like Machoke that evolve through trade have the same learnset/levels after evolving. It's the pokemon that evolve by means other than trade or level up (like stones) that won't learn any new moves or may have a distinctly different learnset than their earlier evolution.

Well, I just had the unfortunate experience of encountering only my 2nd ever shiny wild Pokemon - in this case a Ralts - and having it teleport away from me after a single round.
LLShC.gif

I had that teleporting thing last week in LG with shiny Abra, but the luxury ball I threw at it caught it. Brought it up to AS and turned it into a synchronizer (naive) with an ability capsule in X.

Good luck. Stuck on this island for two and a half days so far. I don't think Latias thinks I'm serious enough yet. Not leaving until I get Timid Shiny Latias.

Auto-save is awful and once I found out in XY you could turn it off, it got turned off. I don't see any reason to keep it enabled.

Yeah, I'm not going anywhere until shiny timid Latias. I'll start Omega Ruby now, I went Jolly Wishmaker and Modest Ageto, I guess I can go Timid Wishmaker and Calm Ageto in OR.

Jirachi and Celebi just steamroll the game. Lol

LOL no doubt. OR is on its way. If that comes before Latias decides to stop being shy, then I'll probably start that too.

Think OR I'm going to roll with what I find in-game. Have an idea of Pokemon I want to compose a team and will just pick them up with DexNav. When I get JPN AS though... not sure what to roll with.

I'm just going to steamroll it with ringers, I'll also trade over level Kami Trio or Johto Guardians or Sinnoh Dragons from DR for OR. I'll figure something out.

My Y eshop JP game is Chespin / Oshawott / Charmander / Hooh / Lugia / Bank (Bold) Celebi. Lol

That game is stuck at the day care tho just breeding haha.

LOL nice.

Actually, your eshop game has half a party of starters. That's not a bad idea maybe for my JPN copy. Gotta do some looking as to which I need to breed to prepare to put them there. Not sure what I should do with last three slots. Which starters were more than water/fire/grass.

Edit: Thinking maybe for starters Cyndaquil, Squirtle (though conflicted, because thinking Piplup), and Turtwig. I've never seriously used Torterra, but seeing folks dig it recently makes me think I should give it a go. Thoughts on starters? Curious to hear other reasons why different Pokemon. Some I've never seriously used.

Also, thoughts on best Fairy Pokemon? Tempted to throw that in my JPN group since I've never used one yet.

EU peasant here.
I like some of the tense non-scripted drama in this game. Like, seeing a Machop with Focus band in Dexnav and...
avatar_a1925ea3e47d_128.png

I hate the mind games that I eventually create when I miss a pokemon on a chain or on DexNav. Something like:

"What if that one was shiny? What if that one had the nature that I wanted?"

I actually just caught a Machop with Focus Band thanks to DexNav.

I also feel stupid. I was looking for a Swablu that raises Sp. Attack and after ten or so I still didn't have one. Then I remembered I have a Ralts with synchronise and it turned out it's nature was Rash. So yeah, the second Swablu I caught after that was a rash one. I'm okay with this.

Or the dreaded PC...The aftermath of that zapdos capture was something else lol.

LMAO I just remembered how dramatic everything was.

BTW, having not spoiled myself on anything in this game these surprises are really something else. I just got Latios for free, I was baffled. Bummer is that I can't really SR for it, Mild is okay though.

Super Training is a godsend, and I'll be beyond livid if they remove it from future iterations.
I cant do super training anymore. After finding out about horde training, I never wanted to see those balloon pokemon again.

Like the only times I try to so super training is to get evolution stones but even that is a crapshoot since the drop rate is so low

Super training is only useful for the evolution and reset bags. If they come up with a better way to get evolution stones and EV resetting, then it would become useless.

i have a question about the pokemiles i got from X and uploaded it to global link

Episode Delta Spoilers:

Winna: Go! Rayquaza is right there, fight him!
Aster: Mur!
Me: Eh..I'll be right back, I forgot my Jolly Synchronizer. Just a sec, I promise.

Rayquaza: ... *This motherfucker is not coming back soon, is he?*

Okay, where is the Destiny Knot in this game? I looked on Serebii and it said Sea Mauville and a fan at the master rank contests. I looked all through the former and didn't find it, and no idea how to do the latter (Do I actually have to enter and win contests?!)

Also I did Sea Mauville last night:
Kind of cool they implied lesbians in that one room.

If you accidentally kill it, it will keep coming back until you catch it, just be ready for Deoxys after as there is no time to save between those.

Even though it escaped, color me jealous. I never found a shiny mon in the wild :(

What?!?!? I knew mons that require stones to evolve can sometimes learn moves their evolutions cannot, but I didn't know that was also the case with naturally evolving (aka by leveling up) ones. Are you telling me I missed a great water attack by evolving her at 16?

Same here, spent an hour catching Ralts and didn't get any Jolly.
I ended up transferring one from Y->Bank->AS

There is a trade-off as Mudkip doesn't learn Hydro Pump until level 41.

There are some moves that might be better off holding an evolution, like Lotad and Bubblebeam but other times you might as well evolve for better base stats and new moves.

Thanks, I'm
planning on killing Deoxys so I can try again later with more time.

I almost did that when I was searching for a Timid one, but I thought "maybe this dexnav thing will help me get a shiny Ralts, who knows", and I kept trying.

Off topic: There are so many things to soft reset that I'm even lost on where to begin.

That only works with Rayquaza...

It's good early on, especially if you wanna use a unique Pokemon.
I made sure it was the first thing I did as soon as I settled on my Cosplay Pikachu.

Once again, where is the Destiny Knot?

Also, in Sea Mauville, there was that room where it says "You feel as if you are being watched" what is up with that room?

Sea Mauville was interesting! I think they also implied
a woman cheating on her husband, with his son partially oblivious to it ("Mom saw her friend again and she looked happy", "She went out with some friends and had a good time", "Daddy, I was sad when you came home and argued with her" or some stuff like that).

I couldn't make much sense of the plot regarding
the closure of the place. Was it because of danger towards the environment and/or Pokemon? I did notice the apparently terrible working conditions, brought to light in the form of the company song.

There is a trade-off as Mudkip doesn't learn Hydro Pump until level 41.

Fair enough, that's quite a lot to wait for a particular attack. It's a shame Swampert doesn't learn it.

Wish they would just let you buy the stuff with money or bp
I agree, they did evolution stones the best in gen 1.

Ralts? LOL

I decided to use Modest Thundurus-T/Adamant Dialga/Modest Lugia/Jirachi/Celebi/Torchic in OR. I'll trade over the pokes. I'll go Timid / Calm on Jirachi / Celebi.

Thank my farming! I might not evolve Torchic haha, hell I haven't evolved Mudkip In AS yet, almost level 40 to hydro pump!

Once again, where is the Destiny Knot?
Decent chance of getting from a fan after a Master Rank Contest
Pick-Up with high-level mon
Random chance of getting after a rematch with a couple in Sea Mauville

EDIT: Oh, also battle the sisters while you're in Sea Mauville. Their rematch present is a Dawn Stone so you can save in front of them and beat them up over and over until you get one. Easier than Super Training I believe.

Ugh, this sounds like a grind.

Damn you Bank for not letting me transfer items!

Why worse? I admit that I already have most of them (Ho-oh, Reshiram, Palkia), but it could be worse.

I have more Ho-ohs than I can count now, though.

In my opinion:

Groudon>Kyogre
Lugia>Ho-oh
Thundurus>Tornadus
Dialga>Palkia
Zekrom>Reshiram

I'm not sure why I picked Omega Ruby. :p

In my opinion:

Groudon>Kyogre - Agreed.
Lugia>Ho-oh - Agreed.
Thundurus>Tornadus - Don't like any of them, they all look the same to me (don't kill me pls)
Dialga>Palkia - Agreed.
Zekrom>Reshiram - Agreed.

I'm not sure why I picked Omega Ruby. :p

I picked OR because of Latios and Groudon, to be honest. The rest is just a bonus.
