But I'm not even talking about that, I'm talking about one, maybe three gold only even. 2012 at least had five gold games. PlayStation is back to 1995 levels of popularity.

Huh? There's been updates on that game fairly frequently. They been revealing characters and releasing clips. PS4 port would be good though. Every time I look at the game I ask myself why it's not (also) on PS4.

I wouldn't expect all that much from this event, even if it is the 20th Anniversary. Sony's big news days are going to be Friday and Saturday this week. There might be some minor news that comes out tonight, but nothing earth-shattering.

Hopefully it starts the week of PS announcements off with a bang, so it can all just go nuclear over the weekend.

Hmmm... the Senran Kagura producer just tweeted out of nowhere today that Gravity Rush is an awesome game.

Gravity Rush 2 announcement tonight hype!

Like what Road said, it's probably going to be somewhat depressing as well, this event.

Because it'll be a stark reminder of how poorly games in general are selling on PlayStation platforms in Japan/Asia.

Just checked an not even a 400k seller on PS platforms from Japan this year :(

Next year should hopefully be much better.

It's Japan + Asia, so maybe... just maybe some will reach that point from a combination of digital + Chinese/Korean localisation.

GTAV did after all, sell over 1 million thanks to other Asian territories.

Ah that's right, forgot that they started combining Asia.

Even with that there is no chance for a million seller, and leaves the Metal Gear Solid demo, Yakuza Ishin, Dark Souls 2, and the Gundam game as potential 500k sellers.

What a shame that the 20th anniversary year had absolutely no huge sellers :(

Make sure that I'm reading this right:
According to this GTAV sold about 700,000 units between April 2013-April 2014 in Japan. But it got a Platinum award so that would mean that overall in Asia it sold over a million in 2013. Even assuming the extra sales in Japan in the first three months of Japan are a non factor, that would mean GTAV sold over 300,000 in Asia outside Japan.
The console industry in non Japan Asia is bigger than I thought. o_O

These shows are normally just awards for the best selling Japanese PS games so I would not be expecting anything new to come out of this.


If you are wondering about if its worth staying up for I would say no.

But not every year is the 20th Anniversary of PlayStation. Plus, the Famitsu guy said there should be cool stuff there. Brad Douglas (he works for PlayStation in Japan) seems to be hyping it, too.

The main problem with this, though, is it's all in Japanese on the PlayStation Japan YouTube channel, meaning it probably won't have a translator. Even if they announce something, it might take a while for someone to translate it into English.

Rule of thumb, if there's no translator, it's no big deal.
I'll know if I can safely leave or not with like 10 seconds of it starting.

I might do something similar. I'll probably watch the first 30 minutes to give it a shot. If not much happens I'll just pass out on my desk.

Basically if nothing happens I'll actually just fall asleep anyway. If something interesting or hype worthy happens I'll stay awake

EDIT: Oh the stream is live now.

Like the PSE, I think this will have little to no megatons either.






I just cant stand to be let down anymore so I'm taking an extremely pessimistic view of all events and keynotes.

Surprises have been teased, so impressions based on previous years aren't worth so much.
