I'd love for this topic not to turn into a "I don't like indie games so I don't care" thread.
That they're reversing the policy.
Grear thread, Chubs. I remember you from the IGN days of posting. Glad you brought this atrention to MS

It would be nice if they just do a press release announcing that it no longer applies effective immediately instead of trying to make it into some white knight moment for the publicity.
Has there ever been some kind of research done to see what percentage of overall gamers actually buy Indie games?.

it's true, they've 180'd pretty much every shit decision over the past year.
This is the last major issue.Make it a bullseye Microsoft!
Does that matter though in this case? It would be interesting to know, sure, but not really relevant in this discussion.
Major Nelson's "changing the DRM isn't like flipping a switch!" followed next week by their changing the DRM like flipping a switch disagrees with you.
Well i just find these threads a bit misleading. I wouldn't be surprised if 50% of PS4/X1 owners don't know that Indie games even exist, never mind actually buying them.
Indie games have messed up list wars, thats for sure.
Geez, I've never heard of this policy. This seems a bit crazy, and seems to me like shooting themselves in the foot. Wouldn't it make more sense to release it on the PS4, gain hype, get updates and then release it on microsoft's console later when it's already wanted and hyped? Instead of not at all, I mean? Obviously the best for them would be to release it on both at the same time. But the alternative - not coming to their own console - seems worse by all means.
Isn't it hurting them overall?

most of the hyped up games will get an exception, we already seen proof of this.
What would that data add to this discussion?
Pretty much D4 and KI are the highlights of Xbox One right now. Digital releases however a closer look at All games isn't that long of a scroll. I feel Ps4 right now has a much more substantial digital presence and in my opinion some of those digital games are among the best overall on either console, so let's stop being crazy with these clauses and get some of these gems on the Xbox as well.I'll be honest, I was shocked when I got my XB1 and looked at the list of games in the store. It pales in comparison to what's in the PS4 one. Though that isn't to say it doesn't have its share of great titles (like D4).
Microsoft needs to dump this ridiculous clause and get more indie devs on board from the start.

maybe that should tell you something about the policy. you also kind of sound like an ass on the tweets you post to Phil.
Who the fuck cares about list wars?

The people who keep making these threads i'm sure.
I'm someone who always buys both Playstation and Xbox consoles so stuff like that doesn't bother me. I just find it interesting when Indie games keep getting used in these kind of threads comparing game amounts.

Because Xbox is losing out on a substantial amount of great games because they want to be hard headed about a silly policy. I too have both, I should be able to look at the other store and know that it has a good selection because the relationship to the developers are healthy enough that a flood of games will be there to choose from. The people who keep making these threads i'm sure.

Off Topic:
Yepp, they deserve a beer or two But Add Charla to that list as well From what I gather he is a pretty reasonable guy that understands the problems but doesn't have the mojo to "fix" it.
what do you find "interesting" about comparing how badly the ID@Xbox parity clause is hurting Microsoft by showing all the indie games PS4 is getting but not XBO due to that very clause? You know, the very reason this thread exists? Because of that shit, hateful policy?
How many people do you think has actually bought a PS4 or X1 because of Indie games or for Indie games?.
And this is a huge problem.

It is a problem that can be alleviated. As a small team we get that other developers have a leg up or 3 on what we have, that doesn't mean that we should be treated like second class citizens just because we cannot muscle multiple platforms at once.
Scorched earth starts here. An independent today may become the next big thing tomorrow that everyone will want a piece of. Build bridges, not roadblocks.
So because the majority of people presumably bought these consoles for AAA spectacle indie games should have fewer storefronts to sell their games? Just because I bought a PS4 for Uncharted or whatever I shouldn't have the option of buying Velocity 2x in the meantime? Or worse yet the platform I chose just completely puts a policy in place that excludes that game in the first place? It's just as "bad" as Sony not opting into EA Access, give your customers choices don't take em away. How many people do you think has actually bought a PS4 or X1 because of Indie games or for Indie games?.

It's like MS didn't just buy Minecraft for like a billion dollars (x 2.5).
Possibly the line of thinking by Spencer and co. for the parity clause' existence to date. How many people do you think has actually bought a PS4 or X1 because of Indie games or for Indie games?.
What is Charla actually doing though? Last I checked there were a number of really really good games on PS4 that are nowhere to be seen on XBOX. Like dude I don't give a fuck about a shitty pool game that is like 6 months old. I care about Rogue Legacy, Don't Starve, Spelunky, and Binding of Isaac. Like how in the world can you go from a platform that had Spelunky, Fez, Super Meat Boy, Limbo, etc. on day one to this steaming pile of rubbish that no indie dev seems to care much about? Talk about a complete mess.

Irrelevant to discussion, what's your next point you find "interesting?"
Fixed that for you.
Am i hitting some nerves here or something?. We are talking about Indie games from what i can see.
