Final Fantasy XV Jump Festa 2015 Trailer

Still haven't warmed up to the character designs or names but hopefully that changes down the line. They just look really generic to me. Otherwise it looks really good.

I really want to go on a complete blackout for this game, but they're keeping the Insomnia invasion under wraps...and I wanna know more about that first.

The soundtrack is so good. The towns look a little rough but that's expected as they are still working on it. I think I might need to go on a blackout after this trailer.

Again, I don't think the FFXIII hype train was like this. I lurked back then but I couldn't feel it like this then.

This is a different beast lol. It's like a 9 year tease.

It makes no sense to me that her name is Cindy. It should be Sidney like it is in Japanese. Sidney is much closer to Cid than Cindy. WTF is that.

Well, if fans make a stink, maybe the localization team could catch this on time and have the actress redub the line(as well as other dubs that make reference to her name), and correct the script to change it back to "Cidney". For any other rename, I wouldn't be so worried(hell, I'm more likely to accept all the main four's names changed), but since "Cid" is an iconic character, you can't just go and change the reference. Makes you wonder if the person who was responsible for translating it is even aware of the FF series and it's history? I mean, Cidney, you can still call her "Cid" for short(just like calling someone named "Christine" "Chris" for short). FFXII's Cid was named Cidolfus, afterall, and was shortened to "Dr. Cid" by everybody.

I hyped tones over FFXIII, but this one seems less crazy, more real and definitely getting more justified with each passing trailer.

I think that the main difference for me is that now I've seen the franchise do wrong and apart from being hyped I'm truly hoping for them to do good, to redeem themselves and to make another memorable iteration

BELIEVE

This looks like everything that FF XIII should have been, or rather - what Final Fantasy needed to be after XII. Changing things up, making a fresh take on the JRPG formula, with enough classic undertones so that we know it's Final Fantasy.

And even more, the amount of transparency we've been seeing since TGS on this game has been inspiring to say the least. Really hope Tabata will become the new face of Final Fantasy (if this game turns out as good as it looks that is).

I have never, ever seen anything like this in anything, ever.

Like, I couldn't even fathom something like this existing lol. I don't even know if this is what Nomura's vision was, but I really don't care anymore.

I'm solely hyped for this because of how unique it is at this point.

I agree, definitely. I love that this was going to be a gaiden since the creators thought it strayed too much from the FF formula and after the XIII trilogy, somebody internally decided "well, maybe that's exactly what we need"

I don't even know if this is what Nomura's vision was, but I really don't care anymore.
Personal speculation is that Nomura's Versus was going to be darker/more melodramatic/Shakespearean. But the current incarnation is literally fantastic, so I'll take it.

The voice acting is horrible.. Not sure why so many in this thread are praising it.

If you truly think the voice acting is great, take a moment and watch a few videos of Final Fantasy XII, compare the voices.

I was really hoping they would bring back whatever studio/agency they used for Final Fantasy XII, it would have fit the setting and characters of XV perfectly..

Oh well, I really hope for Japanese voiceover DLC..

Dual voices are confirmed already.

For me, FFXIII was reverse hype compared to Versus/XV. WHen both were announced, I was anticipating XIII MORE than Versus(which looked like it wanted to continue the mopey tone of Advent Children). FFXIII, to me, had more promise. Then, more information was released and my hype for FFXIII slowly diminished(considering they were originally promising one type of game, then eventually did something else). Though, everything released regarding Versus, up until modern FFXV, has gotten me more and MORE interested in the game. FFXIII started off as over-the-top hype and by the time I completed it, I was ran into the ground. This one started off with very low expectations, but every nugget of joy released regarding it seems to lift me higher and higher.

Well, I finally watched the English trailer. Ignis and Prompto's voices are still best and fit their character. Noctis' voice and acting is just terrible.

I'm afraid of thinking about a new golden age for the series, but the thought is kept deep inside my mind, ready to pop out when the time is right.....will it be now? We'll see, in the meantime, HYPE! :D

Truth be told, the game looks more ambitious than anything I've even seen (for now), the scale is going to be bonkers and if the story has a good pace and creates momentum and climax, then we'll be in for THE treat.

This didn't happen to me, I believed it would be epic until I played it, you can imagine the meltdown lol the game was good, but not Final Fantasy good, and the sequels didn't make things better, after so many years circling around the XIII environment, we need something new, and if it looks this good, even better :)

Nomura was never in charge of the narrative of the game. Kazushige Nojima, who wrote the stories for 7 and 8, is writing the story for XV. Nomura's directorial involvement dealt with scenario stuff, artwork, characters, and gameplay ideas. I think the big change between what Nomura was doing and what Tabata is now doing is making the combat a bit more like Type-0 and less like Kingdom Hearts, but other than that, it seems as though much of Nomura's work is still in the game.

The whole "romeo and juliet" stuff seems like it's still in the game.

Eh, if the trailers we've seen in the past few months are any indication, it sounds like they're plenty dark for what's the prologue of the game.

Country gets invaded, dad potentially killed, on the run from evil empire. And that's just the offset. The only difference is that we aren't seeing Noctis brooding or crawling on his skin, the wounds would not heal over the fact.

Right, the only thing that's keeping me waiting is the actual invasion of Insomnia and the party scene. Everything else seems to directly correlate with FFXV from E3 2013, and Nomura's Versus.

They're definitely keeping Insomnia under wraps and the whole Luna/Stella deal.

Exactly. Furthermore, there's a clearly some form of build-up towards whenever they intend to unveil the more 'melodramatic' parts of the story.

TGS trailer was light-hearted overall, but there was still a hint of dread with the invading airships flying into Lucis.

Now the Jump Festa trailer reaffirms that dread by showing us that it was a literal invasion, hints of what transpires during the invasion (by revisiting the E3 2013 story scenes ), and a clear showcase that Noctis's road-trip isn't just a 'road-trip', but a bitter escape that they have no choice but to continue on.

SE is already giving me FFX for PS4. Give me FFXII HD and deliver on this game and I'll forgive you for the FFVII troll SE.

I wonder what's happening in that snowy scene. Is it a bad dream that Noctis is having or is it confirmed that the cast is dead already?

Yeah, i'm sure the more emotional or epic moments will go down the history of cutscenes, much like FFVII or X.

Do we know who's the Event Director for FFXV?

Say what you'd like about Toriyama's terrible directorship, I felt that in terms of storyboarding, FFX was top-notch when it came to visual works of the cutscenes.

If I had to take a guess, Shiva attacking them(was there ever another ice elemental summon other than shiva in the FF games?)

The wiki says Hiroki Chiba.

A real shame Tabata got rid of Jun Akiyama (FFXII), a much bigger loss than Nomura imho.

Sigh.....I love seeing the new footage and trailers and everything....but it is really obvious that this is a 2016 game. Oh well.

You know, somehow I'm totally okay with that, now. I want this to be a new milestone for the series and high-quality (J)RPGs in general.
We've waited so long that one year more isn't that bad. There's already Zelda U, MGSV, UC4 and more great stuff next year, so I think we'll be fine :)
Spring 2016 should be possible for them if they power through 2015 and mass-produce new content for the huge world.
