I think it's a pretty clear fake. For one thing there's nothing on the side that says PS4 if you were to place it on a stand, except for what would be the bottom of the slim PS4 and you wouldn't be able to see the bottom of the PS4. How do I know that would be the bottom on a stand? because the power button would be upside down if that was the top.

At least there we had dusty plastic mouldings. That presents a slightly higher barrier to fakery than photoshopping which is all that's going on here. I think.

If that were a real thing right now, then its external PSU only. The dies haven't shrunk enough to slim the cooling and PSU down to fit both in that tiny box. In a few years its much more likely to be possible.

The fact that this says "CONFIDENTIAL" in all caps right in the file name should be ringing alarm bells in people's head.

I'm not sure whether the images are real or not, but I'm confused by the 'it says confidential so must be fake argument'.

Every formal document where I work has to have an information security classification, which is on the front page and every footer. More often than not it's 'confidential'.

I think its pretty comparable considering this is a product out now for $550 and the PS4 slim would probably be a 2016 or later redesign. By then a lot of changes could happen to the way they put together the PS4 guts.

Halving the number of RAM chips isn't magically going to lead to a ~50% reduction in the size of the console. Especially since they're in clamshell configuration in the PS4 already.

Slot loading on the side is strange. I mean you could turn it to face outwards, but by design it makes little sense. People do put electronics in fairly tight spaces at times, and having the disc drive on the side could be a problem.

Of course the really small size offsets this a bit, but sometimes when you make something smaller, people migrate it to smaller spaces.
