The Witcher 3 will likely have the best graphics yet (New Screenshots)

If they would have gotten talented statue makers it could have looked great. I have a few berserk statues from art of war and they are amazing.

You could say that about every CE or LE. Then the price would shoot up and everyone would complain that they're too expensive.

Such a disappointing downgrade.

Looks much worse than previous screens and footage.

In fact, it looks like the screens they released before they switched from TW2 renderer, to TW3 renderer.

Game is in need of OBMB, and the LoD looks so much worse now.

Visuals look nice, but inconsistent. I can think of at least half a dozen already released games, including a couple of open-world games, that look on-par or better than TW3. And then there are several more games that will be released within the next several months that also look better.

I remain a little skeptical that CDPR truly has what it takes to pull off a game of this magnitude...in terms of graphics, world, story, gameplay and overall cohesion. Hopefully my mild concerns will be eased tomorrow.

This is generally how I'm feeling. Like I said earlier, these new shots looks similar to a lot of the early images and footage we saw, minus sharpening. I don't think the quality of the final game compared to production images can be determined until we see the exact same areas in the final game that have been displayed in screenshots and videos. The overall composition of the screenshots we were getting maybe a year ago looked absolutely insane, but they had tech elements that looked down-to-earth. I think someone at CDP let it slip that those earlier PC builds were running on a Titan though.

TW3 isn't going to tower over other games the way TW2 did though in terms of graphics. TW2 looked so impressive because it was basically one of only two games in 2011 (or that whole era really) that was designed with contemporary PC tech in mind instead of consoles, the other being Crysis 2. TW3 will be competing with games that at the very least are being designed around consoles only a year and a half old. CDProjekt's competition has been unshackled from 2006 technology. That said, I think TW3 will still be the more impressive technological achievement between it and Dragon Age for instance. It seems to be trying to do more in terms of how the world and characters interact with you.

Yeah distant detail and LOD are still huge issues in modern titles. Noticed same problem in the updated FFXV shots. Its the biggest thing holding back immersion in open world titles in my opinion.

Unity is the best looking game I've personally ever seen but the huge lack of LOD that pops up can completely break the experience at times.

I haven't really gotten so upset about it because it seems to be a sacrifice that's been uniform across today's open-world games. I haven't really seen anyone list a game that handles the LOD problem well.

Honestly, for open world games, I'm more impressed by Ass Creed Unity's visuals.

Ignoring that it runs like shit, anyway.

It looks nice and all but what's with the shiny prostitutes. Also the textures while pretty high res are very flat, I would have thought by now brick walls would have more polygons giving them depth than what they have in the screenshots.

All according to keikaku.

Skyrim with ugrids set to 12. It's a performance hog but looks great.

It would be nice if we could get some tessellation but that won't be happening well on AMD powered consoles, and as far as I know Witcher 3 doesn't have any Nvidia exclusive features on PC.

Downgrade compared to th earlier footage is pretty significant. Shame actually.
No doubt the needed hardware will be exorbitant regardless. Wonder how this game will run on my 970.

I'm not overwhelmed. I think maybe people are expecting too much from an open world game.

Well , first screens that were released made me expect something lot more than in these. It barely manages to look better than TW2 , but it's still understandable since it's coming out on consoles as well , it's not gonna be ported from PC later like TW2 was.

I just hope gameplay and writing will be good , that way graphics won't really be a problem

Lol. Because having prostitutes in games is now immoral.

I don't get this too. When a game like The Witcher shows that most criminals, rapists or whatever are male nobody says" this is a poor representation of the male gender" because that would be an awful generalization but if you show some women as whores then somehow you are making a poor representation of the entire female gender... how's that even possible?

Just noticed that they have Geralt's hair white (white is the right color, not sure why it went grey in W2) and not grey like the first screens and trailers of W3 anymore.

Those statues never look as good as the press versions, waste of money if you ask me.

Dust collecting tat that will be landfill in a couple of years. NA CEs are garbage. Do people actually like figurines? (Looks at post count in amiibo thread #2)...yeah I guess they do.

This used to be a visual beast but the delays have let other games catch up. AC Unity's lighting looks far more dynamic and gives a lot of depth to scenes. These shots look flat by comparison.

These screenshots look like last generation shots. Don't even look better than DA:Inquisition (and that's a cross-gen game). I knew sooner or later Dennis would start trippin.

This single clip has ruined every other screenshot and video for me :(

I'm in the same boat, I was never that impressed with the character models they just looked out of place to me in the stunning world they had originally shown. The initial reveal makes all of this look pretty disappointing. Hopefully it can match the reveal maxed out on High end PCs.

In this thread, I learned that people have way higher graphical standards than I do.

I honestly think the game looks amazing, even with the "downgrade" from its initial reveal, I still think it will be an absolute wonder to travel in an open world with this level of fidelity. I'm probably just going to stroll around and admire the view.

I think it's not about "graphical standards" really, it's just that new screens look worse than the older ones (which is something going for W3 since late last year) even when they still look good.
