Amazing news. I've been waiting a long time for Capcom to finally release a Dragons Dogma title on PC. Hopefully we'll get an actual singleplayer game as well at some point.

Will give it a try, because why not?

Wish it were a sequel, but I'm still going to look forward to it. They got the great foundation of the first game if capcom handles the online/f2p aspect well it can be a great game.

So I actually have Dark Arisen but have never played it. Should I bother or just wait for this?

And I quite like both MMO's and single player RPG's like the Souls series and such.

Oh, I missed the 'no plans for a western launch' bit. Eugh.

Wait, where was this said?
EDIT: Found it, I'm not going to take a UK PR rep's word as gospel, they might just not be allowed to announce it in the west until after a certain amount of time after the Famitsu announcement or Capcom/Sony wants to save it for E3.

Went to bed pleased because of the announcement news, woke up sad because of the updated info regarding what it actually is/release plans. :(

Thanks Obama.

I'm not annoyed by F2P stuff. Whatever, that just lets me play the game while deciding how much I put into it financially. It also means I could start day 1 without having to spend any money, which is great for games that'll evolve over time, to me.

The online focus sounds fun, DD has one of the best battle systems I've ever had the joy of playing in an "Open World RPG" environment, and being able to play it with others sounds nice.

But... another Sony platform exclusive from Capcom. After starting with my Xbox One with Dead Rising 3, and then getting the greatly fun SDR3OMGWTHBBQ edition, the uncertainty of support from them is really frustrating.

RE Revelations 2 felt like a return to expected normality, but now we have this AND Deep Down skipping the console? Ugh. No need to focus on the Street Fighter Stuff, as well.

It's just disappointing. I wouldn't mind much if it was a bit more even in titles.

All that said, I'm pretty glad to see Capcom pushing for things like Cross-Platform, new delivery methods for games, big online experiences, and, of course, really working within all levels of non-phone / handheld game development. As much as the JP side of game production is abandoning console support, the fact they're doing so much to try their hand at each and every niche possible to continue delivering titles is pretty great. Reminds me of how much I liked their early Wii and XBLA support; they seem to be one of the best JP companies when it comes to trying new avenues.

So this leaves me feeling rather conflicted. I've had a PS3 and Vita for years now, but even with them, I don't like building friends on Sony's platforms. My friends are on Xbox. Even if I do get a PS4 by the time this game possibly makes it West... I won't be able to play it with the people I'd want to. Argh.

Ultimately though... yay to more Dragon's Dogma! Still one of my favorite experiences of the previous Gen, and the only large free roam Action RPG this side of Ys that feels absolutely great to PLAY.

I dont care if there's pay to win, or all good armor is behind paywall GIVE ME!!!!!!! Bring this damned thing overseas Capcom

It seems Capcom just wants to continue my love hate relationship with them.

I love the idea of DD with your buddies replacing pawns. I've had that idea since some of my first epic battles in the very first release.

I hate F2P. I'd rather just buy a game. I don't want this to fuck up what could have been something excellent. Not that they would even release the game in this hemisphere.

Sigh. Being a Capcom fan is hard work. I really want to love them and then they do things like this.

Happy to see all the Dragons Dogma fans suffer along with BOF fans like myself. Misery loves a companion :)

Suffer? Let's be honest the combat and enemies are what made DD and the single player story and quests were pretty much standard MMO fair to begin with, so I'm not seeing the negatives here as long as you still have the option to go it alone with pawns.

This more or less sounds like what people wanted from a DD followup, minus the F2P aspect.

On the other hand, BoF6 looks to gets rid of everything that made the series what it was. (And not in the good, experimental way like Dragon Quarter)

I want DD2 to be offline enabled and not F2P but I ain't mad at this. I think it sounds like a good idea and hey, it's free! Wondering if Deep Down got turned into this.

Dem scans. #hype

Man, Shield sage sounds fucking awesome. Just the name makes me want to play it. Dragon's Dogma has THE BEST CLASSES IN A FANTASY GAME EVER!

Character creation has seen an upgrade. The number of sections and parts you can edit has been considerably increased. Crafting mechanics are also present. Pawns can make things like consumables, weapons, armor. Pawns can also work together to shorten crafting time and increase overall build quality.

Excite. Pawns are not only back but even more useful.

Also if I didn't know any better (which I don't) Shield Sage sounds like a rebranding of Mystic Knight.

I really hope they add swimming of some sort in this game. Never really could buy the excuse of theres monsters in the water so no one can swim

I'd play it.

Unless you just can't handle bad framerates.

I played through two entirely different builds. My first I got up to level 125 focusing on a warrior class build, but wasn't getting much out of it, so I started it over as a magic class character, and ended up at level 200 as a Magick Archer.

I've spent probably around 150 hours in the main game and another couple hundred just dicking around in Dark Arisen. The game is one of my favorites from the prior generation. It doesn't run all that well, but what it does well, it does better than any other RPG I've ever played. Rare to get that kind of combat in any form of RPG.

Play it, obsess over it, and then get back in here excited we might see another in any form.

This is a bit of a strange question to ask, don't you think? There's still a long time left in the PS4's life cycle, and there are always things happening, plans being made, or discussions taking place with various publishers. But in answer to your question, there is one more notable title at least. Beyond that, I couldn't say.

You people talking about the original theme. I had completely forgotten it was that jrock song. lol

Listening to the one for dark arisen it's definitely better but the original wasn't bad.
I don't understand this Capcom 5 moniker...?

Those were exclusives games for gamecube in a time when the ps2 was butchering everyone.
