Karl has been here almost 5 years, you've been here almost 2, your point missed the mark...just a tad.
Well, that's true.

Honestly, didn't look like he really had a point to me; just seems like he was trying to be an asshole.
Well, that's true.

That's just how Karl works.
Well, that's true.

Karl is great.

Shoutouts to Karl and his avatar choice xoxo
Well, that's true.

Has anyone gone back to play any of the Halo games that run at 30fps? Went to play Reach and I was so horrified by how choppy and slow it was. 60fps is honestly a godsend.
While that's true, I could still tolerate it. Shame that Halo 4 still couldn't stay at a consistent frame rate the last half of the campaign. Every other game was running pretty smoothly throughout.

i want to sell my xbone but i like the mcc campaigns too much. i have invested nothing into my xbone but mcc.

I wanna get a wii u and just play the virtual console haha

Sunset Overdrive is a good'n as Poodle mentioned.

Assassin's Creed IV was the most fun I was having with the series since the original (purchased the AC bundle for MCC). And I haven't played personally, but I've heard nothing but good things about the Resident Evil Remaster. And of course there's that OTHER Bungie game...

Virtual Console is pretty damn nice though. I only bought Earthbound because I never played it, but they recently released Metroid Prime Trilogy too. Super Metroid, Golden Sun and the original NES Zeldas are catching my eye as of late though, haha.

I honestly can't believe this was even considered in early builds of Halo 5. It is like the thing everyone joked about when considering ADS for the AR.

lol, I just thought I heard it was due out in Feburary. Then I saw the beta for it was cancelled. I was kinda hoping that not having the beta may still allow us to get the update this month. I so want to play some BTB. ;/

Beta being canceled won't actually hurt the launch date. We just ended up with a better way to test some stuff. Also the fan Dedi/P2P "research" is wildly off (not their fault, as you will see). You will fall back to P2P in certain circumstances, but (embarrassingly) the vast majority of times people are seeing that is actually a UI bug and they are in fact on dedis. This is fixed in the next update.

I thought it was a bit silly to try and base anything off of what the MCC's UI is trying to tell you.

Not sure if it's been posted but I saw a rumor that the reason the beta is cancelled is because 343 is contracting a private testing company to do the testing. There's also rumors that that is covered under an NDA, so I'll refrain from posting the company name mentioned, but that actually seems like great news. A wider audience of testing, less people complaining if bugs are found. And hopefully a quicker turnaround and high quality feedback meaning Halo MCC working better, sooner.

If it was beyond the ideals being discussed here I'd have hidden till you stopped talking about it.

But I'm not saying a date because I will jinx it.

Any thoughts on updating maps and gametypes to their end of life (end of sustain efforts) settings?

I'm generally thinking of all the Halo 3 maps (weapon spawns, placements, forge objects added to The Pit, et al).

Sweet, I hope all goes well. I am really anxious to get some serious play time in.

Smart move

Jinx is no joke

It's an odd thing the Halo community. It's basically a bunch of hipsters who hate anything new and love all the old stuff.
Remember when everyone thought Reach was the worst game ever?

I'm still mostly playing Halo on oXbox and 360. The transition actually gets pretty easy once you're used to it. First time going 60->30 in like-for-like game is extremely jarring though, yeah.

Packed away my Xbox 360 earlier today. End of an era

Not sure what I'm going to do with it. On one hand all the Halos I care about are playable on the Xbone right now (except Wars. RIP). But I still have original Xbox versions of Halo CE and Halo 2 that are only playable on the 360 and to get rid of the console would be to render them completely useless to me.

Hmmm
I wouldn't recommend getting rid of it but that's mainly because I don't think you should ever get rid of old games/consoles in case you ever want to go back and play them. If you don't really have a decent collection though... ehhhhh.

the pit really needs the updated player spawn positions more than any other map

spawning in the rooms above the bases just kills team slayer

Really? Is that why a lot of people in the community are saying or have said that Halo 5 was the best game they played since CE, 2, 3 etc. And that it was better than Reach or 4? People have rightful reasons to criticize a lot of the newer games or the MCC.

I still think that

I personally had way more fun with the base game of Reach than Halo 4. H4 just had too much fluff in the way and too little content/features imo (the game isn't half bad under all of that though).

Towards the end of its life, I was still playing Reach regularly, but it was like exclusively BTB/Invasion, SWAT or Action Sack.

BTB and Invasion on Reach was and is still pretty damn fun, imo. It was certainly better than Halo 4's sadly and I remember Halo 3's being good, but ever since starting to play it again with MCC it's definitely not as good as I recall, mostly due to the slot machine/projectile shots of the BR.

Reach SWAT was all I played towards the end. Kina sad I never unlocked my Gungnir helmet...

Well, 5 seems to be breaking the trend thankfully. However it was definitely the case with a lot of the previous games.

All of Halo 3 needs to be updated. Weapon spawn locations are incorrect. There are still
potential
map and game breaking equipment on maps. Player spawns are wrong. Snowbound isn't Boundless. Forge items are missing. Weapons that were completely removed from maps later in the game cycle are now back on the map.

Et al.

Think about whether it was because they were new or whether or not there were certain design decisions that caused the reactions.

I'm not saying the fact that it was new was what caused them to dislike it. I'm just commenting on a trend. Halo 2 had some hate slung at it and now it's one of the most beloved of the series, 3 had hate. I remember when Reach was completely hated. In the eyes of the Internet it was the worst thing of all time. It's seen as pretty good now.

Anyway, it's only a semi serious joke. It's a pretty common stereotype that every new Halo is hated and suddenly all the old ones are loved.

So matches just run mysteriously smoother (lack of anti-magnetism in CE for instance) when that "UI bug" is triggered? Not buying it.

My biggest beef with Halo 3 was a serious lack of Blood Gulch/Coag, Sidewinder and base movement speed. Avalanche turned into a happy place for me.

Edit: properties of the Hogs and Wraiths also meant no good way to bring back Cat & Mouse custom games like Halo 2. Strangely enough, H2A Forge let me re-create the game very nicely with civilian hogs. Unfortunately, MCC leaves me "all by mmyselllllllllllfffff"....

Halo 3 BTB CTF is still way more fun than it
or anything else
has any right to be provided you can get good teams on both sides with minimal lag.

Invasion is GOAT. SWAT was fun times. Action Sack was just a ball of fun. Speaking of balls, Grifball was so much fun in Reach (despite the Grav Hammer being a bit meh) and Blargball was hilarious.

Reach's launch maps were pretty decent
Oddbase Swordball
but I loved a lot of the DLC. I feel like I'm alone in this though...

Grav Hammer will return dammit!

GOT THE GITHUB STUDENT KIT, BIPCHES
GONNA MAKES SOME SWEET ASS GIT BITS WITH YOUR GIT KIT YA BIP?

Reach SWAT was some of the best SWAT. I can't wait to play some in H5. I really hope there's an acheivemnet/medal for headshotting an enemy while clambering. lol

There's a medal called "Cliffhanger" that I got for nading a guy mid clamber. Wonder if it applies to all kills

Well I think it's kind of sad you never got to experience the joys of Halo Ball, Dino Blasters and Hockey.
:)

Yeah, I never truly gave Reach its due.

I would have not agreed with you normally, but I have just finished a match where it said the host was xxxxx, but he quit the match after less than 3 minutes.
