Just to be clear. All games use cubemaps, ssr is just a helper reflection pass, AO capsules are only for characters.

Great thread, looking great. Cant wait for the Review embargo. I hope atleast that it get over 80 and that Sony open up for a trilogy in this serie. I hope that this becomes the new Uncharted.

Not akin to Uncharted 2 and 3, afaik. Haven't played the game though.

Man if people pass on a game because of how long it is that would just be ridiculous, I do feel though that the people who complain the loudest about this are trolls though and aren't actually interested in the game in the first place.

I do remember the same arguments being made against Ground Zeroes which kind of faded away when people realized how fun it was and how much you could truly get out of it.

I cracked and bought it. It's a PS4 exclusive, and that's practically the only thing I use my PS4 for now, so I kind of realized it had to happen. I'm also a big fan of story based single player, so this is probably right up my alley. I have a feeling it will be worth it.

Normally like other countries , a day or so before release. But for some reason The order only was available to preload in the US ( there may be other countries too ).

I was able to preload GTAV for eg.

Playing too many Ubisoft open world games and grinding too much in Destiny have turned me off of games. The console(s) were barely turned on for the last few weeks. I'm counting on this game to get me out of this gaming depression and get me back into the groove. Really looking forward to it as I have been since it was announced.

Im gonna buy it cause its short, if it was longer then 10 hours I would not have time or energy to dig into it now.

I feel the same. So many padded out games that I've just got tired of. Farcry 4, AC Unity, Dragon Age, to name a few examples. Can't wait to just sit back tonight and have a short but sweet gaming experience!

I'm the same but some of these threads make me feel like some kind of pariah. I just don't get the appeal of open world games with huge lists of collectables to pad things out. Tomb Raider was about my limit in terms of that.

Same here. I'm in the super minority because I have a dedicated theater room. A short romp with high production value, great sound and phenomenal visuals is exactly what my system is asking for. If it's an interactive movie that's perfectly fine at 106"

The original Gears of War could be finished sub 10hrs too and it was one of my favourites on the 360. I finished it a boatload of times. If I can get the same from 1886, then great.

If people do that it's because the game has NOTHING to offer outside of the single player campaign. Zero replay value. So I definitely understand why people will wait or ignore it because of that.

I will. The game seems great, but 60 dollars in a SP only game, with 10 hours campaing, with absolutely no reason to replay, no effort done into that regard, is not worth for me.

Will probably get it when its cheaper though.

In my opinion, the length of the game is not an issue. My main issue is just how much of the game is on autopilot. The game funnels you from point to point more strictly than even a Call of Duty game.

People who are taking 9-10+ hours through the game must be just stopping to stare at shit every few steps, because there's literally no way to extend your playtime through exploration.

Probably my most excited game since Titanfall. Dragon Age as well but haven't got time to play it yet. More to the backlog I suppose.

Question: I pre ordered off PSN but my pre load hasn't started, all I have is the timer countdown. Is there something I need to do to start the 6Gb download?

Edit: Also I have been charged so guess I gotta wait it out till midnight for things to start eh
