Impressive...very impressive.

With further price drops, successful E3's, and once more games come out (1st and 3rd party like FFXV, MGSV, Bloodborne, and Uncharted 4)... It'll probably compete with PS2 numbers.

Amazing shit. 25 million by E3?

Probably a little much considering that this is a traditionally slow time of year. Bloodborne will move some consoles, but not that many consoles- similar to a lot of other big exclusives, its audience is predominately people who probably already own the console.

"playing" dumb? unpossible
So probably around 400-450k for Jan/Feb in the US.
~1.3 million in the rest of the world. damn.

Which makes all the "sky is falling" posts in those NPD threads look funny. It's a damned tsunami wave outside of the USA.

It just did 1.7 million in the slowest months of the year. Another 4.8 million in the next 4 months isn't entirely out of the question but it may be tough

I kind of expected the top-selling console of this generation to top out around 75-80 million (not because of market contraction so much as I expect this to be a relatively short generation), but at this rate they may crack 100.

Dec. 28, 2013: 4.2 million
Mar. 2, 2014: 6 million

Difference: 1.8 million (64 days)

Jan. 4, 2015: 18.5 million
Mar. 1, 2015: 20.2 million

Difference: 1.7 million (56 days)

Damn so roughly the same amount in the same period as last year

I'm always amused at how different the titles they list are between the English and Japanese release:

Persona 5, Street Fighter 5, MGS5, FFXV, Bloodborne, etc.

Most interesting is that P5 leads off the list. :p I think Sony is going to be giving it a lot of marketing support as its release nears.

It's a good news story. Good console, launched at a good price, has some great games coming out etc...

So I am happy. I'd be happier if Nintendo was doing better as well but can't win em all. They shit that bed.

I think Wii was 20.1m shipped by last quarter. Don't know PS2 off the top of my head

PS2 can't be compared that fairly due to the very delayed Western launch compared to the Japanese one.

Yeah, but only a LITTLE too much.

I could definitely see 23-24 million by then.

Are casuals buying the PS4 as well as the previous (very well treated by Sony)PS3 owners? It's just difficult for me personally to see what is so appealing about this console to be selling to the mass market. Nothing wrong with it selling great, congrats to Sony, I'm just not getting why.
