Xbox One April Preview Wave 2 Details

The bigger implication of party having dedi servers is that it could potentially improve the experience when playing together with friends as well, not just chatting.

Since (by the leaked documentation) the party app is the one that handles the in game party session, we should see results in that front too.

I have a few friends that's always a chore to try chatting and playing with them, hope this improves things.

Hopefully this will finally fix the party chat issue that MCC has had, my current biggest bugbear. Comms would drop out on every other games, turning the controller on and off helped bring it back.

Sounds good. I'm not using voice mail nor party chat, but it's obviously something that people wanted improved. I'm glad to see hubs more accessible, it's something that was needed.

Still bummed about no background music. How hard can it be to implement?

They confirmed it will be possible once the Windows 10 based universal apps launch.

So I don´t think they will implement it before that because around September with the Windows 10 launch it will (should) be possible.

Dedicated servers for party chat. Now how about some dedicated servers for the MCC!

Obviously 343 arent working on these updates.

Meh! Pretty poor update.

I want to be able to play music in background, hurry the f*** up and sort it MS!.

Jesus christ, can't believe it's taking this long for something the 360 could do.

Small thing I noticed, when playing clips in the activity feed, the videos now have a little progress bar. Neaters.

dedicated chat servers sounds great but it also seems like we only get to use them if someone in the party has a strict nat or another peer to peer problem going on, otherwise you get the usual.

Do you run into other issues not related to NAT when in party chat? Just curious why you would want them all the time.

lol. I do occasionally get dedicated server games on this hot mess as well. Unfortunately not often, and no where near enough in my region to keep me playing it.

You should move to America ;)

This is an intelligent use of the system. I only run into issues with a handful of friends. The rest work fine for me. If this improves things for us, perfect.

Yep background audio is coming for windows 10. Its about reinventing the wheel...they are completely adding a new app ecosystem...it is the right time to put that in. They will be changing from windows 8.0 to windows 10 and all that work can be part of that. Hopefully we on preview get it in the next few months

They are starting to run out of the most popular recommendations on feedback.xbox.com
The only big ones I see left are background music apps, BC with 360 (yeah right), using Cortana via Kinect, and patch notes for game/console updates. I wonder what they'll do over the next year with these updates, especially when Win10 comes out.

I want achievement rarity now!

I just hope we don't lose all these gains when Windows 10 hits.
Crazy idea I know but I still worry lol

There is already support for trueachievements, which can give you info on rarity. Granted it's only among TA users, but that may even be a better information on how difficult an achievement is hard to get.

Faster snap. Not really a new thing, But needs to be improved.

I dont get the hype for Voice messages. Since i own my XboxOne, ive never missed them.

I would prefer some improvements to the Media capabilities.
Media Player App needs more native Codec support. (DTS Audio etc) And a better looking UI.
BluRay App needs support for AVCHD and BD-R(BDMV)

And lets dont forget Background Music. I want this feature so bad.

Windows 10 will not "hit"

They just change some of the underlying codebase so universal apps are supported.

There is no "new windows 10 dashboard"

Well, we don't know what they have planned for when that update happens. Them overhauling the look of the UI is very possible to stay with Windows 10 design ideals. 10 is a pretty significant product for Microsoft across all their devices.

That said, they wouldn't pull features that they have been working on prior to that update.

I don't really think they will either but I didn't think we'd lose some of the stuff that the 360 had working either. In any event I do hope it's a smooth transition.

They've already hinted at a front end UI change at some point around Windows 10. There will definitely be something, whether its visual UI changes or back-end or both, they don't have to be substantial necessarily, but as I said in the other thread I think.

OS team person told a developer at Frontier that they had big plans for optimisation etc and as far as I can see they haven't actually done anything on that front in the way it was told to me. They also said they were working on install times but as far as I can see we've not anything from that.

All the stuff we're getting added now aren't visually changing the console, the store hasn't had an update since last year, everything they seem to be doing now the way I look at it is stuff that wouldn't be affected by anything visual they might do. As I said, it might not be necessarily be significant (like blades to NXE) but there will definitely be something and it will be noticeable.

Voice messages - incredible. Only took until April 2015 for it. One day 4 years from now maybe XB1 will finally have feature parity with the 360.

I remember last year trying to send a voice mail on XB1 being shocked that the feature wasn't there - "wait a minute, now wait just a god damn minute. You can't send voice messages with XB1?????????????????"

I am a huge MS guy, but the only reason I am an MS guy is because I liked the 360. I want a supercharged 360. I don't want a system that slowly includes beloved 360 features one-by-one, month after month.

I'm guessing it will take another year before we get themes, avatars, and gamerpics back?

System(s) clearly weren't ready to launch from an OS side when they did. It took this long to come because they listen to the Xbox feedback site, if more people had wanted it they'd have pushed it up.

At least they're doing the updates quickly and on a great schedule.

We already have themes, there are already pictures for your gamertag and avatars are on the console via an app. They appear to be planning something new for avatars as well.
