HBAO = Nvidia cards
HDAO = AMD cards
This is how it is, right?
Maybe if Rockstar release a RDR HD remaster. But it's safe to say the original RDR won't ever come to PC.I still have hope for a Red Dead Redemption PC port.

Don't see this happening tbh.

That has been clear since 2011.

Same here.... Mr. Enigma they really bungled up development of that game and the effort plus sales might not make it a win.
So according to R* the recommended specs are not only for 1080p/60fps but also for the high settings:

If they legit reckon I am getting 1080/60 @ High from my 670 I'll be happy but it seems rather optimistic. Unless they have optimised the living shit out of this game (they have delayed it for nearly 2 yrs though I suppose)
But is it "maxed"?
Seriously tho, y'all are almost making me cave and buy it before release.
So according to R* the recommended specs are not only for 1080p/60fps but also for the high settings:
High =/= Very high. It'll be pretty much the PS4 version at 60fps.
Are you sure that is an official response? They mention "ultra" and we know there is no ultra setting, just "very high"

Something along those lines most likely, or maybe it was too costly to implement.I'm honestly surprised that HBAO+ isn't in the game.
Nvidia has TXAA and PCSS in there.
I wonder why it wasn't included.
Maybe it didn't play nice with R* lighting system?
It's nice to dream, I have lost hope 4 years ago. Bought it used and completed on PS3, ran like shit and subhd. That's it! Come on, it's coming pretty hard on best time ever game lists! No way it goes down with prev gen. And when it comes, our PC's will be there, and give it a warm welcome!
No.
Both HBAO and HDAO can run on Nvidia/AMD cards.
See Far Cry 3 or any game using HBAO or HDAO.
HBAO+ in most games I've seen can run on AMD cards and surprisingly the performance hit is not any worse.
I played the it on my brother's xbox 360. Did not beat it though: spent way more time watching him play.Something along those lines most likely, or maybe it was too costly to implement.

Gotcha, thanks. But isn't there also a general opinion that you use HBAO if you have a Nvidia card and HDAO if you have a AMD card? I can recall this being a thing.
Trust me on that you really don't want to "play" console versions of RDR. As good as the game is the experience is not good at all.I played the it on my brother's xbox 360. Did not beat it though: spent way more time watching him play.
No OT's til day of release.A little off topic but do we have a PC OT yet?
Are you sure that's not just some guy making shit up?
MeltedSOX is a former Modder who got hired by R* so it seems to be legit.
But will know on release date for sure.
If an i5 3470 @ 3.2GHz and a GTX 660 2GB can get 60fps @ 1080p on high.
I can definitely go very high (or ultra, whatever you want to call it) with my i7 4770k @ 4.2GHz and a GTX Titan SC @ 1440p.
Suck it Qassim.
I hope :|
keep losing connection download server via r* social club wtf. it's only halfway done and should've been completed by now because of this bs

I still don't feel this is likely.If an i5 3470 @ 3.2GHz and a GTX 660 2GB can get 60fps @ 1080p on high.
I swear I'll be the happiest man alive when this godforsaken game finishes [successfully] downloading.
This was one of the main reasons to why I got it on Steam, I didn't trust that their downloader would work anywhere near as good as Steam.
Doesn't bode well for the online servers at launch.

Don't expect to play online on launch day without problems. Servers are definitely going to get hammered.
How long have you been downloading? I'm at 20.91GB and I've left it on for 1.5 days. Keep getting "Connection to download server lost. Reconnecting..." and I have to pause/unpause rinse repeat
fuck is this
I want to agree but also look at this as a last gen engine with some new gen multi core optimizations. I think people might be surprised how well this runs vs GTA4. That game left a bad taste in terms of optimization but everything that's been shown and done on current gen versions bodes well for the PC release.I still don't feel this is likely.
Seems like this release will be pretty big. Probably the biggest since Skyrim on PC. DL speeds from the SC might not be as good as Steam. How long have you been downloading? That's a great rig so maybe, but I'm talking about getting double the framerate of the PS4/XB1 version with equivalent graphic settings on a 660/7870.I want to agree but also look at this as a last gen engine with some new gen multi core optimizations. I'm pretty confident in being able to run with everything as high as possible on my 5930k/970SLI rig at 1440p/60fps.
My big concern with Rockstar's servers is the inevitable online check. I doubt it'll be an always online game but I'd be surprised if it didn't call home every once in a while, and then everyone's screwed when the servers drop.

They have said it's only a first time online activation and you can play offline forever after that.
Hey, my main problem was your assumption that if you cannot hit a particular baseline experience, then the game was automatically "unoptimised". Little more than that. I felt your stipulations with "max" (e.g. FXAA and without PCSS) were a lot more reasonable than most other similar comments in this thread.
That was a bit of a hyperbole I admit, I wouldn't say it would be unoptimized, just would that I would be disappointed based on all of the preview information we have gotten so far.
When I said max, I mean everything very high, sliders to the right (even the extended ones) with FXAA and lack of PCSS being the lower options. Easier to say and people undestand. I really don't care to argue semantics, you know what I mean and I know what I mean by max. Plus based on research, PCSS makes a minor difference that would only be noticeable in screenshots, it's not like I'll be losing on much. And FXAA would be my first go to option, and depending on the frames I might increase to TXAA, but I know based on Watch Dogs, TXAA is a heavy burden on the GPU.
I mean we are all just speculating and hoping for the best. I'm still, in the back of my mind, wary of all the PR speak. At this point, I'm cautiously optimistic, and hoping for the best.
