GTA V PC Performance Thread

Quick question. After downloading GTAv, is there a DRM online check while playing or can I play this game offline forever without any online checking?

Intel Haswell-E 5820k OC'd to 4.3GHz
16GB DDR4 3000
2x GTX 970's in SLI

Every single game option max'd except FXAA is on instead of MSAA. Running at 1080p.

Rock solid 60fps in the city, no issues whatsoever.

I drove around the countryside, however, and I'm getting dips into the low 40's.

4k, everything (but AA, cause 4k) on very high.

And still get decent framerate, not nearly 60fps, but playable.

On a 970; i5 2500k stock; 8gb RAM.

Pretty damn impressive.

Also, director mode is the shit, but where does it saves the snapmatic screenshots?.

Here is the video I uploaded of the benchmark on my machine. I recorded it using ShadowPlay, which seems to have a 5-15 frame hit on my framerate during the benchmark.

System Configuration:
i7 5820K @4.3Ghz
SLI GTX 970s
16 GB DDR4 Ram

Game is installed on a Crucial MX100 512 GB SSD

Im just using the NVIDIA optimized settings, only thing i changed was I added x2 MSAA.

FPS is usually in the high 50's but when driving its anywhere from 40-59. Advanced options everything was on and bars maxed.

doesnt ever go below that though.

GTX 980 4GB SC'ed
i7 3770k OC'ed
Win. 7 Ultimate
8GB RAM

Everything maxed, 1080p, framerate bounces from 48-60fps with V-Sync on

Without V-Sync I hit 70 at the max.

Overall, pretty well done port, especially for Rockstar.

I have a BEX64 error in a "GTAVLauncher has stopped Working" box. Seems quite a few people have that error.

Tried installing all vcredists for x64 and x86 and tried a bunch of other data access stuff. No luck

Well this seems strange... Try lower shadow quality ( PCSS are pretty demading )

So, I think reflection MSAA was causing the drops. Didn't realize I had that set to 8X. Dropped to 4X and it's running much, much better. Staying at a locked 60 99% of the time now although I'll have to see if the frame rate holds up at different times of day.

My settings now are 4XMSAA (regular and reflection), Nvidia PCSS shadows, and everything else is maxed.

Specs - GTX980, i7 5930K stock, and 32GB RAM

I am.

Every thing maxed 4K DSR I'm getting over 40fps constantly.

Two Titan X's @ 1475/8200

It's a bit surprising you didn't get a solid 60 even with 2x Titan X.

Although if you're DSR-ing to 1080p you probably don't need supersampling.

Anyone have a similar build?

4690k
GTX 970
8 GB RAM

If so, how's it goin?

Got a similar rig, swap out the 4690k for a 4670k and you're there. It's locked at 59fps with occasional dips down to 50, a bit of stuttering, but I've also damn-near maxed it out. Could definitely drop some options a bit.

Holy FUCK. The difference from IV to V on PC is ridiculous.

This thing is optimized. I have one of those fabled 970's that have "4GB" of GDDR5. I still can't play Lords of the Fallen without it crashing. Modern console ports drop below 60 when I run 1080p/60 on highest settings, but this game is a fucking dream right now.

I should mention I am running the Rockstar launcher version with the nVidia drivers just before the new ones. Installing the new one and hoping to crank everything to max.

Also, when I exited GTAV, my GPU temp was 67C. Normally it spikes to 78C with modern AAA games.

EDIT: 16GB RAM, i5 3.4GHz, Win 7

Holy fuck. It looks like I will be able to max this out at 1080p/30fps locked. Granted as long as 30fps on the PC version is as smooth as it is on the consoles.

Well shit. Game crashed because I turned the graphics up too much and now the launcher is just loading a blank page with a loading icon. Anyone else get this?

The optimization on this game is INCREDIBLE. 660ti 2 GB and i5 2500, 8 GB RAM, I'm getting 55-60 FPS at 1080p with high textures, high shader, high shadow, no MSAA reflections, very high water, high parcticles, ultra grass, smooth shadows, very high post, very high tesselation, ambient occlusion on, FXAA, no MSAA, vsync, poblation density maxed out, poblation variety sigthly turned down, scaling distance maxed out. And I still have to play more with the settings, maybe I can get it even higher. I get 2286 / 2047 VRAM MB used but it doesn't have any problems with it.

I consider this to be absolutely amazing and worth the wait.

Well I found my crashes. When I got my SSD I disabled page file completely. Not good enough for gtaV and 8gigs of ram. This is the first game that forces me to use a page file. Put t on my mechanical and I see the committed RAM go to 8.7gigs with nothing else running. Just the game and windows. Sigh.

Good enough I guess. Now I just have to deal with a floaty mouse and massive stuttering in the menus. It didn't do this before I used the geforce experience. It really hosed up my settings. Going to have to mess with this tomorrow.

So far a little rough for me.

Finally bought a new PSP, but then pushed the demon onto someone else. Jesus.
I'm streaming this to an 8" tablet with an XB1 controller and I'm floored! The shadows!

Rad, I'm glad to hear that. Have you ventured to the countryside, yet? I have been hearing about some slowdown out there. Thx for the reply btw!

1080p, everything maxed except no MSAA, all detail scales at full and I'm getting a mostly locked 60fps experience. Dips down to low 50's while driving. Lowest I've seen was like 45fps standing near a tall building under construction with all sorts of detail.

The FXAA in this game is very light, still some noticeable jaggies, but I dont want to turn MSAA on. Also if I drop shadows from Nvidia PCSS to "Softest" it lessens the FPS dips, stays much closer to 60fps.

Without vsync I'm seeing up to 80-90 FPS depending on the area.

Seems optimized pretty well. However the keyboard controls are AWFUL. I really wanted to play with mouse and KB for 1st person but it just plays better with a controller.

30 FPS with a 970? You are doing it wrong...turn down the MSAA and enjoy that sweet 60fps.

Yeah fxaa is more than sufficient when you downsample from 4k. There's no way even 2 of those can run 4k60 with heavy aa for a game like this

So upon reinstalling I noticed something....

The installer defaulted to my C: drive, which is not where I have my games. Something like C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto V. I took a look at that path and a Social Club folder was included in Rockstar Games complete with a bunch of items.

On the previous install I chose a different drive, and placed it under my generic directory. I didn't have a folder named Grand Theft Auto V. It looked something like x:\games\grand theft auto v files.

I don't think I had any of the Social Club stuff either. So this time I copied what was in that C:\ path over to the other drive. I created a blank Grand Theft Auto V folder. Game is in process of re downloading now. I clicked the shortcut on my desktop and it to shows the correct path on the new drive.

Lawd pls...let this be what the issue was. 50+ more GB to go ;___;

I have a 3570k @ 4.4GHz with a 970 G1 and 8GB ram

Everything to Very High except shadows set to High and Softer and MSAA to 2X, getting 60FPS 99.9% of the time

maybe tomorrow it rains
I'm not done playing around with settings, but this is what I've currently sacrificed to get a smooth 60 fps.
I'm using:

i5-3570k @ 3.4GHz
GTX 670 4GB
8GB RAM

I'm not sure if everything is ideal yet. I kinda want to have tessellation set to high, but it hovers in the 50s while driving when I turn it up from normal.
