HOLY **** I just realize that I misspelled my username. Ok so who are the mods around these parts? Just direct me to them so I can message sorry for the derail lol.

Dang...

I thought it was a troll this entire time.

How the fuck did you not know you spelt it wrong.

You know your avatar is wrong as well...

A troll for what though? lol.

I know the avatar isn't right, I just didn't know I misspelled the name.

Man, no more corn flakes before bed.

Ok So I messaged a couple mods, hopefully everything will be fixed.
This explains why sometimes I wonder why I can't log on.

Anyway on topic, I guess the predictions are all locked in now. I really want to know how well MK did. I do think they made a mistake realesing the last gen versions later though.

Just went to the archives and found.

X360 130k

Wii U 37k

Holy... Well never mind then, wow.

The first time the Wii U outsold the 360 was in January 2014, and by only 1k.

The next time it would outsell it would be in May 2014, by 4k. May did start a 6 month period where the Wii U outsold the 360, but was stopped in November.

Wii U is a failure.

and your pic is Dr Ben Carson whom I have a great deal of respect for

I know, I'm going to be one of those people spending $10000 on the internet getting his name out if he ever confirms.

How much did the Wii u sell the entirety of 2014?

It's amazing it's worse than I expected it to. That's amazing how it just died after launch from what you're telling me.

LTD at the end of 2014 was 3.66m (rounded down)

LTD as of March 2015 is 3.9m (rounded down)

That's just amazing, not even 2 million in 2014 even with the holidays. (I'm assuming the 2015 LTD is U,.S,. only?)

That's a pretty big drop off, I know people say it's failing for multiple reasons but a drop off that big from 2012/first half of 2013, I am not sure we can put a reason on it.

My post was US only.

As of March 2015 worldwide shipments for the Wii U are at 9.54m units.

Watch out, some guy with the same avatar as you keeps posting directly after your posts, must have done it 5 or 6 times in this thread alone.

Stay vigilant.

Sometimes the same message posts twice and it won't let me delete it, I often get a message saying I already posted a post already when I hit submit once, but I think it was just my browser, it seems to be working better recently. Good ol' chrome.

Do we have sold-through number for Wii U?

Do we have sold-through number for Wii U?

As of April 4 (end of March NPD) LTD in the US is 3.9m

As of May 10 Japan LTD is at 2,323,838

So those 2 countries equal 6.22m units as of May 10 (missing April NPD and there is one week of May in Japan)

I don't follow Wii U sales outside of those two countries, so if there are other numbers, just add to that.

Just to give those numbers some context. (3.9m in USA for Wii U)

The Dreamcast at this point had been discontinued with more than 4 million consoles sold through in the US.

The Gamecube had sold 7.2m in the USA at this point and the PS2 had sold 16.6m in the USA.

The Nintendo 64 had sold around 6.7m, PS1 around 7.8m

(aligned launches)

Hermain Cain......

You should leave it the way it is. It rhymes and rolls off the tongue nicely.

( I had no clue who that guy was until just now using google)

I didn't know you could change your user name. Might ask to change mine. Don't know why i chose this one.

I imagine some of you have read this before, but since the NPD thread always argues about the effects of exclusive games on hardware, here's an academic analysis I found on it:

The Effect of Superstar Software on Hardware Sales in System Markets [PDF]

Selected grafs:
Using these parameters, we estimate both the monthly effects and the cumulative effect of superstar introductions on hardware unit sales, from their introduction at t until five months after their introduction (t + 5).. The monthly effect peaks during one to two months after introduction and then decays. Remember that software unit sales flatten around the same time. A superstar software title increases hardware unit sales by 14%(167,000 units) on average during these first six months
A superstar achieves software sales of 835,000 units on average during these first six months, meaning that during these first six months, on average, one in every five buyers of a superstar software title also purchases the hardware required to use the superstar software title.
Exclusive superstars increase hardware unit sales by 16% (196,000 units), while nonexclusive superstars increase hardware unit sales by only 9% (117,000 units).
First-person shooter (25%; 280,000 units) and racing (26%; 286,000 units) superstars have the largest (i.e.,above average) impact on hardware unit sales. Superstars from the genres RPG (14%; 170,000 units) and sports (16%; 190,000 units) have a moderate effect on hardware unit sales.

I don't get it.

I asked in a PM for cosmic to "nod" if x was correct.

2 minutes later and the post in this thread was "nod" in reply to me.

So maybe I'm reading too much into it, or cosmic just confirmed something to me in a subtle way haha.

lol alright. Just seemed weird to infer something from a nod, but if you asked for it, it make sense.

Wouldn't it be easier to ask him to confirm via PM?
