You can join in with your friends by jumping into their current game. That said you won't be able to actually specifically group with your friends until the major August update.

So basically if you have a group of four or so people who want to play together they have to join into whatever game you (or any other friend) are currently playing. In Turf War the teams are randomized after every round. In the August update one matchmaking mode will allow you to band a team of four friends to play against another team of four friends, as well as a mode that allows you to just play 8 friends together with custom rules.

You're taking his 1) way too seriously. Also, honestly, what does it matter if they're on your team or not? You can play together and have fun together, it's all pure madness anyway. If you were planning on doing clan wars, it sucks of course so you're gonna have to wait for the update.

By this logic Nintendo already lost this mantle when the released Smash 4 without share mode. I'm pretty sure they've released games with promised mode updates before that, but I'm blanking on examples.

Yes exactly. Again I ask: what does it matter? You gain nothing from being on their team unless you explicitly want to play clan matches or something of that nature.

If you go into a lobby in Regular Battles, the teams shuffle at the end of each round. The first round you might be with your friend but the second round you might be against them. The third you might be back on the same team again.

For the sake of Regular Battles it's to level the playing field. TF2 scrambles it's teams as well, only during more extended intervals. Other than that, playing with friends can be just as much fun as it is playing against them.

The game allows you to play with or against your friends. It doesn't let you choose when you do what, though, and that is so by design (at this stage in time, anyway). Yeah, I know it can boggle some people's minds.

So we know we get a lot of post- launch content. Rewatching the Direct got me thinking... what about a Moba stage? Yep, a Moba stage. Think Dota x Splatoon.

3 major lanes, each one progressed by little jellos or whatever. You start every match with basic gear and lvl 1 and you earn eggs by creeps or kills. Shop is always accesible via the gamepad. Goal is to capture the enemy zapfish, but you need a high level and special gear to take down their defending sprinklers. Slightly bigger map than the rig, Or screw the creeps and mix it with the already announced and awesome tower mode. Just make it 3 towers and add level progression within each match. It's... not really about being amusing but not allowing the boy to wear that kind of outfit kind of is a gender statement by itself.

Not that I'm that bothered by it because it's clear that the outfits are supposed to mirror Japanese school outfits. That said it is a bit of a bummer it doesnt work, nothing would have been lost from it and it would be neat.

Kind of a "darn, that's a shame" situation.

Male 'school girl' outfit looks great. He even wears the hair clip as a hair tie. He doesn't need to wear the skirt for it to look good.

Also, I find it interesting that the male version of the Octoling suit sports a longer undershirt.

Doesn't keep it from looking feminine... lol.

I wonder, what would the reaction have been like if the first version of the clothing set shown off had been the male inkling in the male school uniform, and the girl wearing the skirt was only shown later? Would there be a bunch of "why can't the girl wear the boy's uniform?"

Or what if the girl was shown wearing the male uniform right off the bat? While I get where the reaction to this is coming from, it also puzzles me slightly given the outfit's origins. Literally every other piece of gear in the game being unisex isn't enough of a progressive statement? That's already leagues ahead of most character customizations.

you know what I'm black so I guess I would have issue if I could not change skin color for inklings
so if I were gay or whatever the gender issue is a boy in a skirt is just the normal reality that a developer should also consider as well as skin tone

I still don't see how it sucks most to the time I'm going to play as the girl anyway so she wears the skirt
but this whole progressive agenda we all have towards games might just get in the way of just having fun which is the point

I'm happy my skin color is in so fair enough your boy in a skirt thing, I don't have the same emotional drives to understand the issue

but if a game is going to play dress up developers should also hear the voices of those who want Boy in Skirt
there comes a point where every agenda is forced into a game it is no longer a creative project

this is not a racing game but why not allow tanks as weapons and war planes
why not add skateboards and rollerskates to go faster on foot?

No you didn't, you just stated that you couldn't empathize.

It sucks because so few games actually allow you to deviate from gender norms when it comes to clothing and the majority of ones that let you do play it off as a joke.
