Halo 3 ODST and Relic map for Halo MCC releasing next month

PAULINK

I microwave steaks.
Hard to believe it's coming out next month, but I will be cautiously optimistic. Then again, it's only the campaign.

One of the biggest problems with this game is that there are too many playlists now for what has to be a dwindling player population. They should forego the niceties of having dedicated games playlists and narrow the lists to the core game types:

Objective - HCE, H2, H2A, H3, H4
Team Slayer - HCE, H2, H2A, H3, H4
FFA - HCE, H2, H2A, H3, H4
BTB - HCE, H2, H2A, H3, H4
Social - HCE, H2, H2A, H3, H4

The above would create a larger player pool in each playlist and also create a playlist (social) that is unranked for all the garbage game types that randoms want to play. Personally I would also like for social to be the only playlist that allows guests. When I play Halo online it infuriates me when I go 27-10 or better while teammates drop 1-20 or worse somehow. I want my competitive multiplayer experiences to be worth my time and guests on my team or the other aren't likely to be helpful toward that goal. I know some people would be pissed, but this is imo the best solution to a serious problem that has plagued every Halo release. Halo 2 started much better, but gradually added more erroneous playlists that weren't needed. 343i, fewer playlists please!

Good thought, for me who like to play social, would be great this way.

This has been a problem since Reach. Too many playlists, not enough players.

Thanks! Every time I get a feedback request from 343i for the Halo feedback I always include this in my conclusion. I also mention that if they wanted to they could also include a 2v2 ranked playlist, because there does seem to be a decent community for that. I just hate that Objective gets shit on constantly by the community while there are 8+ slayer variant playlists. Objective is great fun in Halo and there should be a place to play only that if you want to.

Every time this thread gets bumped in May, the thread title throws people off. Can "next month" be changed to May or should a new thread be started or something?
Maybe the problem will just solve itself in the next few days when the game either releases or a new thread starts around the seemingly probable delay announcement.

An oversight when I posted it :(

Oh well, I was expecting them to perhaps come up with a firm date rather than this thread keeping going (and thus replacing it).

Im still going for this week, it'll just sort of drop

Funny how this becomes a problem whenever 343 touches Halo.

Just an observation.
Different issue for different games, though.

Reach under 343i had some playlists that were more or less redundant, and a massive number of playlists overall. It became incredibly bloated.

By contrast, MCC feels like it could benefit from far more playlists, but the population might not support it.

Stupid question, but how much does ODST cost for late birds? I got my Xbone + MCC like two weeks ago.

It should not cost anything. The game is still broken. People that bought the game on day one or yesterday still bought a broken game. They need to give it to everyone. Its as if they believe the cut off date was the date the game was fixed.

I played it last night for a few hours, wasn't broken for me at all. I think the December date we got was a bit early and obviously it was borked for a long time but its not broken now

Try playing with a group of 3 or more. The game is full of issues.

I'm still really, really jazzed for this. When it happens, it's going to be wonderful.

My Xbox one is set up at my buddies because we go there and play Xbox together with our 4 or 5 person setup. When we do matchmaking together, 1 person almost always gets booted out. :/ it really kills the mood from then on out.

Until they switch off the p2p the game imo is still broken! I don't consider one game here and there on the promised dedicated servers to be acceptable. Plus the way that they have tried everything possible to mask determining on what you are playing speaks volumes.

I'm stoked for an excuse to replay this. It's one of my favorite Halo campaigns, particularly with the hidden chapters of the "radio-play" between the girl and the municipal AI.

Aaaany day now...

Trying to please everybody is impossible - if you did that, you'd end up in the middle with nobody liking you. - John Lennon

Funny how often this seems to be true.

As someone who only wants to play Halo CE, this would cause me to never touch the game again.

"on track"? It was meant to release this month, wasn't it?!

Oh well, I don't mind. Maybe it'll actually be a good port. Halo 3 and 4 left a lot to be wanted. Like improvements to draw-distance in splitscreen and anisotropic filtering.

I'm more looking forward to the patch for the playlists they're adding rankings to. Halo 4 runs pretty well most of the time; without ordnance drops and with the inclusion of (real) rankings, Halo 4 multiplayer could actually be good.

Now hopefully they aren't foolish enough to charge for it.

ODST is a pretty sweet game. Hope everyone gives it some love, Halo needs some variety.
