A lot of publishers were getting pissed that they'd put all their eggs in one basket for E3 and a few games would dominate the news cycle and overshadow everyone else's products. That's mostly not an issue anymore as publishers can just put new trailers on YouTube and hype those up a few days prior on Twitter.
Nintendo waaaaay ahead of the curve on this stuff, despite being horribly behind in so many other ways.

jab jab walk up grab. Trademark of an online SF4 player...

EDIT: seriously, why does everyone online does this?
People do jab jab throw all the time in real life/pro matches. It's part of the game and you'll see a lot of players know the timing and tech the throw.

edit: sorry for the double post, thought I was in two different threads.

Basic tick setup in SFIV. These things have been working for almost two decades now.

I can understand this working in the competitive scene since there are so many other options you have to look out for but when every single player runs the same set up and only that setup... jesus....

Just something I'm noticing now since I am now actively playing online (better now than never).

tick throws are considered setups now?

no wonder why you losing to justin wong...

Going for throw after being + on jabs is just a really good option. Is that considered "online tactics" now?

*sigh*

no... but as I said before, I can understand this working in the competitive scene since there are so many other options you have to look out for but when they do it every-time they show that it's their only option. they wont even try to frame trap. I'll tech them, and even beat it out with a short but they will go for it over and over.

They can't combo and they found a trick that compensates for that.

Well if it stops working enough times, they'll try to find something else. The circle of life Street Fighter. Can't expect people online to be amazing.

you know, I don't think that's the case, I just believe they have no idea how to open people up if it's not a Oki from a hard knock down. Well, I did meet one Sakura that frame trapped me (god damn 3 frame fierce...)

I guess because my PP is low they expect it to work all the time on me or something but so far everyone does it and refuses to acknowledge I am looking out for it.

hm?

Where is Bonchan's anti Rose tech?

My god Bonchan is getting lit up... I expected him to lab this match out after what happened at evo...

Louffy has too much of an advantage against Bonchan.

Strong character matchup + Strong competition from Europe

Yeah, but I think that's most of them lol

Unless they're blanka, then they've got tricks most of the time

As far as online sins go this isn't even that bad, since i expect it works swell against weaker players. There's people online who don't even stop jumping after you anti air them 15 times in a row.

Even better than E3 is the classic "Wait for the TGS!". The fuck have people been for the past ten years?
Well in recent years we have had Gamescom emerge as an interim to release some pent up vidya-sexual energy. Also helps when Japanese developers have uh.. gone the direction they have.

Are the dev cycles really longer? Two to three years still seems to be more or less how things always were. Things are more rough right now because of the business demands of creating AAA games and studios actually struggling with developing for new platforms and shipping games in proper working order.

That and the game marketing cycles have gotten far more aggressive.

Mainly yeah E3 is less important because the larger publishers don't really need it and the smaller publishers are kind of not existing or it's also not worth it for them. But there will still be fun announcements and bad ones. I mean lets remember how Nintendo announcing a new console went over the last time, a lot of people didn't even realize it happened.
Well, about 5+ years ago you could still get licensed property games built with super small budgets and a development time of a year. Look at the shit KI got for pushing out a product in under a year of development time. Now those games exist on mobile, and of course the B game is sorta dead or dying because of higher development costs. 2 or 3 years is still probably the median and maybe I'm looking into high profile delays a bit but I'm also taking into account post-launch support becoming more and more extensive, multiple studios juggling big IPs, etc.

lol! I love those!

Or the classic, throw a fireball then jump forward because "fuck this zoning crap!"

What do you think he's been doing? Louffy just owns his soul right now in this match up. Even top players seem to have their own demons that they can't seem to overcome. At least for the time being.
