When are the splatoon servers going down for maintenance again? I got a weird feeling it's gonna include a patch for good ol' Spike.

What is this? Pretty sure my wife stumbled into it accidentally since she spent 30k to buy ordered gear and somehow got it right back.

When you can get a vibe bonus from Judd, spend all your money at Spike first and then immediately talk to Judd to get the vibe bonus, he'll give you all your money back.

If you're gonna play ranked you seriously need to fucking GROW A PAIR and get in the zone. Fucking horrible teammates

The definition of front-butt.
I can tell you why they are doing the rotation. Matchmaking. They fear with the low userbase of the Wii U that users wouldn't get to get matched quickly enough, so they limited it to two maps per 4 hour slots, and random matchmaking. That way, a user is almost guaranteed a full lobby without much of a wait. If they allowed players to pick their own map, this would be harder to match players together.

As it stands, Splatoon doesn't need this, as it's playerbase is pretty large. So it's possible Nintendo is noticing that and discussing whether or not to let matchmaking be more free-form and user-driven. I think it would be worthwhile for them to go down this path in the future, especially as they add more maps, but I'm just sharing why I think they decided to go about this for launch.

I dunno, I guess I just look at it differently. Forcing the stage choice makes you get good at every stage instead of just isolating yourself to the ones you "like." In doing so, I'd imagine a non-crazy person would grow to like pretty much all the stages. They even have tips telling you to look at the stages for the day and equip yourself appropriately, so the intent here is for you to be able to adapt to the various circumstances, not just always tailor a custom experience that you want to play. If that's all you want, wait for the August update I suppose. It makes sense to me why that's so far off. Same reason they make people get to rank 10 before moving to ranked.
I think these reasons are part of it too, but what I said before can also be part of it. There can be multiple reasons, I was just highlighting one thats not brought up often.

in the Splatoon direct they said you get sea snails if you are on the winning side of a splatfest

#teamcat
You get them for your individual performance in the splat fest. The winning team gets double what they earned. Preyingshark posted a more detailed description the other day.

I think it's pretty obvious which ones can and can't roll. There are a set of abilities that could not possibly stack and those abilities can't be be rolled. They're the last 11 abilities in the ability guide.
Thanks!

I think I might aim for Ninja Squid, Stealth Jump and Ink Resist Up. Not sure what sub abilities I want to stack up yet to make a difference. Stealth jump especially as I'm constantly getting killed by people camping my marker.

Someone disconnected in a Regular Battle and I ended up having to carry my team on Blackbelly. Got a bunch of kills and an 800 score but just wasn't enough.

Hate it when that happens.

Few times I've played I would say the same. It was real frustrating playing with people who would always stay at a pace or so out of the zone. It was like I was the one man army corp defending this little sqaure all by my lonesome.

Yeah, what is this Judd glitch everyone is talking about?
Here you go:
Just read something about a Spyke + Judd glitch (maybe it's not even a glitch) on reddit: Basically you need to win a few matches be on fire (+9) so Judd gives you 1.400 coins. Before you talk to him, pay Spyke for a equipment slot. Then go talk to Judd. He gives you 1.400 coins but also restores the 30k you paid Spyke before.

Can somebody test it? I'll try it later.

lol, this one made me laugh.

I'm not sure, but I might have run into Dan in Ranked today. A level 20 "Grump Dan" wearing the schoolgirl set ended up rolling over me like three times between two matches. I made a point to splat him twice and we won the second round, but it made me nervous because if they just happened to be filming for day 1 of Ranked I didn't want to be caught on camera playing like a scrub :p

Probably not though.

*wins 4 ranked matches in a row*

I like Ranked now lol

changing over to weapons like the 92 gal for it's sprinkler, or the splattershot pro, is a must. Krakens in ranked are so damn cheap though, regardless of winning those matches.

can confirm that Judd gives you all of your money back even for multiple slot upgrades (two for me since I only had 60k at hand)

this is so unbelievably broken lmao

really doubt Nintendo has the measures in place to fix it retroactively tbh

Too many DCs or missing team members. It sucks even when they're an inkling down on the opposing team as its really easy to win.

A quick maintenance is definitely needed, and hopefully there is one before I get back on again.

Dunno if I've bumped into anyone here online, I'll be Xaos of course. =)

I like the random equipment stuff, too. If I could build my perfect loadout right away, what am I gonna do after that? I'd rather piece it together bit by bit as I come across what suits me, getting a little better here and there. There's no point in the splat fests giving out shells as rewards if everyone has already min-maxed their shit before the fest even comes around. There's no way in hell I'm gonna touch that glitch, I really hope they patch it ASAP.

Splatoon is a journey. Put yourself together bit by bit, learn the stages as they're available, and gradually become a Super Fresh Guy. It's a lot more fun for me because they've built in that kind of progression and curation. It feels like a place, an event, not just a video game.
I agree. It looks like the developers put a lot of time into how they wanted players to progress and constantly feel excited by the game, and I think they succeeded. It's certainly VERY different than common Western design philosophies, and that's what makes it so fresh and unique. I simply love it.
