Because they claimed they were dedicated towards continuing the series, and MGR2 could easily have been made without Kojima's input.

No surprise after killing the most promising Silent Hills in a while, especially after the positive response to P.T. Konami franchises are all dead as AAA games. Get your Kickstarter money ready to fund more japanese devs.

God, I didn't personally care for the game but the amount of heartbreak in this thread is tearing me apart nevertheless.

I said it already but I'll say it one more time: I feel awful for y'all. This was a game so many people needed.

The first was one of the best games of last gen and a sequel could polish it into one of the best games of all time.

I'm sure they are dedicated to continuing the series. Just on smartphones. With a vastly reduced budget. Konami does not want to spend money developing console games anymore.

Because there have been a bunch of teases in the last few months, and because it was entirely possible that the game was already far into development with a bunch of money put into its development - enough for Konami to at least let Platinum finish it so they could make some money from it. I guess that either wasn't the case, or Konami is run by a bunch of bridge-burning egotistical shits.
