Despite ff7, despite last guardian, despite shenmu, fallout 4, this is the game I keep thinking about.

My mind keeps going back to this game.

I think I will call this game of the show.

everything in it gives me a monster hunter vibe. so, character progression through equipment instead of exp.

And Coop. Really.
You just can't hunting a big, robo-dinosaur monster alone, without any companion.
I can't really believe that I'm asking for a multiplayer mode on a game. I'm always a SP guy, but for this type game I always thought that coop is an absolute must. After all, This is perhaps western studio first take on hunting action genre and I'm really want to see how they pull one of the most important aspect of genre that is the multiplayer component.

Man some of you really dont want more enjoyment out of your games it seems... If this is SP only, i wont care.
Give me some OPTIONAL Coop and i will buy it.
I don't think you realize that game design for co-op necessitates compromises in the vision compared to a purely single player game. Many of us do not want this. Some do. Nobody is right or wrong, but obviously there is a big enough market for purely single player games that it's not exactly unreasonable to hope for.

I didn't say if I wanted co-op or not. I was responding to the other guy saying if it's SP only then Guerrilla "fucked up big time". Which is a laughable statement.

It's Guerilla, i'm sure they will some sort of online functionality. plus those leaked screen shots showed multiple characters working together.

This is my favorite game from the show as well, with 'For Honor' a close 2nd.

With Aloy as the protagonist, I'm kinda guessing that Guerilla will separate the single player and multiplayer mode.
Here I'm hoping that Guerilla Game gives a lot of robo variety. 15 unique, big robo-dinosaur at the very least.

I am curious what led to robot dinosaurs that wander the wilderness like they're real animals.

Story speculation:

Some of the robo's were harvesters right, looked like they were eating grass (harvesting chlorophyll?), so it could be that they're made by some other faction/tribe, with higher technology, and the bigger ones are there to protect the harvesters. So it might not be an internal ecosystem of robo-dinosaurs, with the T-Rex at the top kind of thing.

Why they look like robo-dinosaurs? Maybe the other tribe thought it would look scarier than having mechs running about. Or maybe cause it just looks so fucking cool :)

Does people really think the robot Aloy fought is the T-Rex of robo-dinosaur? It was too small for that and hopefully there will much bigger robot that will be more fitting as "T-Rex" ;)

As i said in the other thread, not a huge fan of Guerrilla games so far

But this? Stole the show, absolutely the best showing, premise is fantastic, the art style is gorgeous, the machines design? superb

I'm all in on the hype train

GG is not a western studio.
Well they are based in Netherlands? Nevertheless, they are the first non-Japanese (or Asia) studio to take on the genre.

Well I play Freedom Wars and loved it very much, but honestly I could't see much semblance besides the more hightech setting. From how the game plays like binding ropes to take down the robot, take their part as weapon and then equipment, that much closer to MH than anything.

And believe me, I would be the last person to overglofying and directly comparing anything that resembled it.

This was the best new IP of E3 imo. Looked amazing.
But I wonder if it is more like MH in terms of mission design or is it a "real" RPG like Witcher or Dragon's Dogma? It doesn't seem 100% clear for me in the gameplay video.

No doubt about it. Something completely new and fresh. Hopefully Robot Monster Hunter AKA Horizon lives up to the hype
Get rid of that horrible subtitle though. The game's setting fascinates me and seems like what Enslaved should have been in the first place, also has elements of Moneleux's B.C.
An alternate title I would have liked would be LIFE AFTER PEOPLE, just for that Discovery Channel street cred!

Think it'll be more Witcher considering GG just hired some guys from CDPR to handle the quest design.
At least for the single player maybe.

Yes, I thought so, but since it was just a fight vs some dinos I wasn't really sure. I like MH and I would still buy Horizon in a heart beat, but I'd prefer a traditional Open World RPG.

Yup.

I had high hopes for the game before we even knew anything, but this succeeded in going beyond my expectations.

Yeah, but many promotional picture shows multiple hunters bringing down one monster. It would be completely a waste to not take advantage of such rarely presented type of multiplayer games for the west.
Plus the Fallout new Vegas writer makes me think it will have a strong story focus
Yeah and that too. I hope that also mean the game will have lighter tone and some humor in it.
Did they mention a release date?

Just 2016.
