Batman AK PC Perf Thread of DARKNESS, NO SETTINGS [30fps cap / intro removal in OP]

Its unreal how no one is addressing this in any official capacity besides , we contacted our 'external PC development team' waiting on their response.

The power of the AMD GPU less than GTX 660 Equivalent on the PS4 doing Console Magic. Based Cerny.

Basically a R9 270 OC is kicking every new cards ass.

Is this not a time of day / different weather situation? If not, that's yet another thing that doesn't work properly. What a mess.

That's just terrible compression. Water does not look like that on the PC version.

Edit: Oh wait, the comment is about rain density. Yeah I'm not sure that's any different either. It's dynamic and varies quite a bit in intensity.

That entire post (the linked one) reads to me like they've given us temporary recommended settings so we can at least run it close to the console experience until they implement fixes.

It doesn't read at all like they're saying they want the game to be his way.

WB doesn't really have a good track record with PC ports. MK X was (is still?) a disaster, that had 16-17gb patches on PC while the Console versions weren't even a gig. This is the publisher that said they're prioritizing paid content than fixing the game they already are charging for.

WB can say all they want, but they have nothing to back them up on this.

I think a mod needs to do a find/replace on the phrase "I think I'm one of the lucky ones" subbing out "lucky" for "blind".

There is only 1 build of the game available to everyone. Many of the thousands of replies detailing where the performance issues are are from people with the same hardware. Luck is not a factor here, it doesn't matter which way you're facing when you launch the game, adding a few GB to a page file doesn't do anything, you're just blind.

What rot. Comparing specs is not the only thing to take into account. No two systems will ever be the same, when you take into account driver installs, anti-virus software, installed add-ons etc etc.

I *know* what 30 fps looks like, as does my frame-rate measuring software.

So pc version looks the least impressive and has terrible frame rate and pacing issues, obviously. But going by this video the console versions aren't running at 30fps solid either. Would seem that the game itself is poorly optimised which was exacerbated in the porting process.

Clearly a rushed release?!

30 FPS Default lock, missing effects , 5 graphical options , crashes , hitching , framedrops.

You think?

I won't bother to search it again, but there was someone on page 30 or 40 making excuses for the developers because hey, it's really really solid 30fps that plays very well. The poster had... two TitanX (one dedicated to doing physics).

Yeah.

I think I'm just gonna play through Arkham City with all bells and whistles on again. I only ever finished that game on 360 and I think it will take a long time till AK is decent on PC, if ever.

Actually, they have some great PC ports under their belt.

Origins and Mordor were very well done.

Asylum was excellent.

City, aside from dx11 woes at launch, was pretty good too.

So yeh, they do have a track record with great ports too. We'll see how this one pans out, but for now that statement looks like they're taking it seriously.

Still no acknowledgement that there are graphical features missing? Seems all they've acknowledged is that there are streaming issues on HDD drives.

Can't wait for the shitstorm if people are actually refunding their games en masse.

However I feel like it's just going to ultimately push publishers away from the platform rather than devote more resources into it.

That being said I'm running i5 4670k + 970 sli + gsync and it does run like shit (fps drops below 30, which gsync can't cover up)

I used an nvidia code so I can't refund.

I like City, but the game had major issues at launch, even when running DX9. For example, auto-save functionality was severely compromised due to some bug related to Windows live. A lot of people got their progress deleted in a massive open world game taking tens of hours to complete, which is not really acceptable.

I'm seriously not experiencing the issues posted on here, the only thing I notice is that the PC takes forever to recover once I've exited the game.

Water looks good.
Textures load in.
The only stuttering I've encountered is when I summon the Batmobile.

I didn't tweak any settings, just played with how it came.

I'd also like to say that nvidia still hasn't fixed this line of drivers 350.xx stemming from gta I think. Still getting driver crashes/system resets every couple of hours.

I need a new hobby

Not everyone has the same system. Some peoples games may run better than others.

They are opening a kickstarter to #SaveBatmanPC

Oh wow. It's in your hands now guys.

I recommend one of these when you find Dave Lang

I wasn't aware of that one.

Still, Origins, Mordor, Asylum. They /can/ get it right.

The latest statement reads like they're looking into it. I'm not too worried just yet.

The uncapped benchmark and the nvidia 60fps trailer prove the game was originally meant to run at 60fps. It's like they couldn't make it work properly and just gave up right before the game shipped. Think about it, why would nvidia want their brand to be associated with a 30fps game? It doesn't make any sense.

So you didn't tweak any of the settings , are you happy with the game looking worse than PS4 which is also running at 30FPS?

Not everyone has the same system. Some peoples games may run better than others.

Fact: Doesn't matter what system you have , as long as its PC it looks worse than Console thanks to missing Effects.

You're currently capped to 30fps then. That itself is an issue. A PC game shouldn't ship with an fps cap, not unless it's trying to hide the fact it needs to lock there to hide unstable framerates.

You're also missing graphical features like everyone else.

Yes, you can lock leave the 30fps lock and get stab;e performance if you're "lucky," I can do that thankfully so I can at least play, but that doesn't mean we're not experiencing the issues.

But from what I've played, it doesn't. At least not anything I've noticed.

No, it objectively does. PC is missing rain texture and AO.

So my bank randomly gave me $150 for a promotion. Makes me feel a little better getting the PS4 version. Still crying over wasted money on this. Since a refund is out the window, possible chance Steam might give at least some store credit? If not i guess its lessoned learned.

As it stands now, they expect us to accept that a PS4 can push out better graphical effects and a more solid framerate than a Intel Core i7 and a 970.

Um, what.

No, they don't...

They said they're taking it seriously and looking into it, in the meantime here are some settings that will allow you to play the game at levels comparable to consoles.

Redeem yourself and Never buy a Warner PC game again.

Thats what I am going to do.

They don't even have anyone outright saying they are WORKING ON A PATCH , even after press coverage and Steam reviews being very negative. I am very certain they don't give a fuck.

But I haven't noticed that, but then I've never been one to look into details about graphics. Also 30fps has rarely, if ever, bothered me. This might change when I play the PS4 version, I guess, but I'm enjoying the game (stuttering when Batmobile summoned aside).

This is a screenshot (via Steam) I took this morning, while it might not be to some people's standards, I was still happy.

I wish I had such low standards , but honestly I cannot for the life of me justify my SLI-980 System looking inferior to console.

Well, we'll see soon enough.

That's all besides the point, you should not accept a game that ships win this state just because "I'm ok with 30fps" or "I don't really notice these things".

Still no update? Not good...

Indeed, they haven't even given one proper update. All we've had is 'yeah it's a mess we'll work on it'. I'd like something a bit more than that, at least today.

I don't expect this to be playable for a few weeks at a minimum.

So tell me why I should hate the above the screenshot? I guess my ignorance is bliss right now.

Forget that.

The game launched with a 30fps cap to hide the fact that higher framerates are unstable.

It's literally missing graphical effects consoles have.

Many users are experiencing horrific stuttering, crashes, and game breaking errors.

This is not something you should accept, even if you're lucky enough to not notice.

Is there really an evidential connection between the driverversion and the malfunctioning?
I had a massive problem with this a couple weeks ago but it seemed like it's hard to know for sure what causes this as this can have many many reasons?

I do wonder why this game is purposely locked at 30FPS as default , unlocking it , indoors in the same scene it can fluctuate about 20frames. What kind of crappy programming was implemented remains a big mystery.
