iOS Gaming June 2015 | The future is now

The game has 3 large worlds and 1 village to explore for side-quests and mini games. The total length of the game I'd say is around 10+ hours if you complete everything.

There are 3 control schemes in the game:
1. Push - See you finger as the wind as you're pushing Heroki forward with one or multiple fingers. We actually began building the game around the push controls, but we disovered that it has a small learning curve. Once you 'got' it, it works so so well.
2. Pull - As seen in the trailer. Just tap and hold your finger where you want to go. Multitouch supported as well.
3. Pad - A floating joystick as seen in so many other iOS titles. Works pretty neat :)

SEGA got in touch with us after we posted a (very old) teaser trailer online back in 2011. We went back and forth for a good year and so we got on board.

Brilliant!

metroidvania-esque set up,

Did someone say Metroidvania?!?!

Okay so until yesterday I hadn't really put any time into Space Marshalls, but I put about 6 hours into it yesterday alone and all I have to say is "Holy shit."

This is one of the absolute best games I've ever played, regardless of platform. It has me playing missions over and over again to perfect them and get all the loot rewards (which are always really cool.)

I'm a few levels in to Chapter 2 now (I loved the first stealth mission) and it just keeps getting better and better. Can't wait to see what cool weapons in gonna pick up next.

And just think, it's getting a third chapter and a sequel

Curious, if TA doesn't make their goal, what "drastic things to keep the lights on" on are they referring too? Sponsorships maybe? Ads everywhere?

Patreons don't work like that. It's not like a Kickstarter, all or nothing with a funding goal. You simply get x amount a month

Not sure what you mean. They still get the money if they fail to meet the per-month goal, but that doesn't mean they have enough money to run the site.

According to them, they have to do something "crazy" to make up the shortfall.

I started playing Hero Emblems last week and, despite a rough start, I'm really loving it.
The start was tough because I feel the mechanics are not very well explained. Skill attacks, buffs, Super skill attacks... The game is seriously lacking a written tutorial.

Apart from that, I guess I benefited from playing the game a few months after it launched, as probably there's been plenty of stuff polished, tweaked and fixed.
Getting killed in a dungeon and still receiving xp at the end I think, for instance.
Or difficulty adjustments. So far, I've been killed in many stages, but none of them felt unbeatable without a bit of grinding, or an equipment readjustment.

The game is a blast to play. It's fun, visually charming, has interesting mechanics and requires strategy while playing it. The sense of progression is very well achieved, and the fact that the game is not F2P allows the difficulty curve to be smoother.
I really recommend it, more so now that it's on sale for 1.99€.

Minor grips: I'd like that the pieces matched (ie, the movements that the heroes will do) were added to a visible stack, so that it's clearer what happens in a turn (such as Fat Princess does). Also, the sound effects are terrible.

All in all, one of the most addictive games I've played lately, and one of the best implementations of a match-3 game.

Recommendation for anyone that liked it: play Fat Princess: Piece of Cake. It's similar in the sense that there's also 4 different heroes that relate to different types of board pieces, and there's quite a bit of strategy involved when playing.
I'd say, together with Hero Emblems, it's the best match-3 game I've played.
The only problem is that, since it's F2P, it has rough difficulty spikes, and I stopped playing when I couldn't get over one. But I still got lots of hours of enjoyment out of it.

The MMORPG "Lego Minifigures Online" by Funcom is out now on iOS for 4.99$:

This is a "Premium-ish" MMO with iAPs only used to unlock new worlds. The game requires an iPhone 5s+ or iPad Air+ though. Pretty steep requirements for a game (mainly) played by children.

Not all that interested but since a lot of us here have Minis, thought I'd note that it also can be played on a Mini 2+.

How's Civ Rev 2? I see that it's on sale and remember it having some pretty terrible user ratings at its outset but it seems to have evened out a bit.

It's fine. The issue everybody has with it is that the second one is only a graphical update. It plays pretty much exactly the same as the first one. I have it though and it's fine. Definitely Civ Lite but fine.

Can’t stump the diablos
I picked up a 6+. Is there any way to bypass the 100mb app store limit?

Pretty ridiculous to have a limit like this in 2015.

Chaos Rings III is so damn good... Anyone else playing this? Couldn't find an OT.

Anyway, should I just be spending my coins on gene boxes, or should I keep them for some other reason? Thanks!

All the new events and the new art in Out There Omega makes the game feel so much more vibrant and interesting.

Anyone play the Forgotten Shores expansion for Monument Valley? How's the length, difficulty?
About 1.5+ hours and about the same difficulty of the main game, some a bit more tricky (relatively)

jon bones

hot hot hanuman-on-man action

thinking about getting this, but i heard it's pretty tough.

is dying/restarting tedious or repetitive at all? i enjoy roguelike gameplay if it feels fresh and quick to get back into it when i die

I can't spend the time the game deserves right now (after having played it for surely at least 50, probably 100 hours)...but yeah.
Particularly loving the new events and ships and the new mechanics (like when you have to repair the parts of the ship).
The new ending seems really nice (and super hard....so distant!!!).

A mention about the new revamped music.
So beautiful, so long now!!!!

Halo: Spartan Strike is on sale for $2.99. I know not everyone agrees on the controls, which I found are good once you get used to them, but as a package, I still think it's one of the best dual-stick shooters on iOS. Lengthy campaign with a nice variety to the missions, outstanding graphics and lots of replayability with different load outs, including playing with less to get higher scores.

And while Spartan Assault is good, Strike is definately a big improvement. Well worth $3.
