who wasn't impressed with that? can you give me a list of the games you've been playing because i must not be doing it right

Depends on how you define "impressed." Graphically, I'd think anyone would have to be impressed, honestly. As far as how scripted it all is, I can see how people wouldn't be.

Personally, I enjoy the challenge of becoming good enough at the game that I can play through it without dying and make it look like this demo. It's quite exciting to watch, I just think dying and having to replay the same parts over and over becomes stale and ruins the effect.

I'm mostly interested in the dynamic between Nate and Sam. Why have we never heard of him? Why have they been apart? Why didn't we see him when we saw Nate childhood flashbacks? What's his relationship with Sully? Is he gonna betray Nate like a dick at the end only to sacrifice himself to save Nate and redeem himself?

Why I play uc on easy first time . Then redo certain segments on hard etc. Want my first play thru to be a fun dumb action flick romp

Elena look so genuinely hurt...

Drake's gonna die...

and no, I don't mean she's going to kill him. He's going to die. You can't have love/fame/fortune/legacy without sacrificing something. Drake wants everything. And he's not willing to give any of it up.

Fate...

will claim his life.

calling it!

The title is blantant for that very reason, no one will expect him to die because, it's too obvious. But, perhaps, that is what Uncharted justice actually boils down to.

Sully and Sam are both thieves too, and the "end" part of the title could simply mean he stops being a thief. I doubt they'll kill Drake off. Once ND is done with Uncharted, another studio could take over and they'll need Drake to stay alive to do that.

Yup graphically it looked fucking amazing and going straight to that Hard mode :p

I think it looks graphically impressive but this sort of cinematic gameplay doesn't do much for me. The first gameplay we saw looked a bit more promising and open but this just seems as dull as ever from a mechanical standpoint.

I've seen plenty of people say they were unimpressed with the Halo gameplay, too. Different strokes for different folks.

I understand your position is this but then my mind boggles at how you were impressed with the Tomb Raider demo and is looking forward to that game. When that game tries to do set pieces as engaging as this one and fails miserably. And also calling Uncharted everything that is wrong with gaming and liking TR. Just dont understand it, your opinion with these games is quite unique i must say.

Is Emily rose still the voice of Elena? Sounds different.

Yes

Yep, TR2 looked like boring, "Hurt Lara while rapidly pressing buttons" nonsense with a bit of Arkham-style stalking on top, just to be sure. The gunfights in the previous game were solid and I enjoyed it on the whole, but it's attempting to mirror the Uncharted series that it's hard to see how someone could criticize Uncharted while enjoying a game that so poorly apes its game play.

I actually have a hard time believing what I'm seeing. I mean that in a positive way. The sheer quality of the assets that you just blow by, seeing for a fraction of a second, is astounding. So much of the level assets seem to destructable, and with such detail. Those bags of...beans(?) deflating once they are shot, such a cool effect. Amazing technical and artistic wizards at Naughty Dog.

Did you read some of the comments made from the journalists? they went further than a brilliantly done action set piece, they said it was impossible to comprehend and revolutionary.

Yeah, impossible to comprehend and revolutionary... action set-piece. Which it is (hyperbole recognized by the article itself). It's on a whole 'nother level compared to the PS3 Uncharteds' set-pieces. The crumbling building from UC2 might as well be your average gameplay sequence compared to this.

Rewatched it again.

The entire thing is just so great to watch. Covers a bit of everything I wanted, and coupled with the PSX demo, the game seems to be covering all the bases I wanted.

CD should take note, if your gonna do set-pieces, this is how you do it.

I can understand why people aren't as excited about this because it's a cinematic setpiece and is probably not pushing all that hard in revolutionizing games from pure gameplay standpoint, but this is what you should expect out of an Uncharted game. Massive set pieces and coherent, consistent gameplay that looks, feels, and sounds fantastic.

I think we'll see more growth in the gameplay aspect with some of the more open areas like what was shown off at PSX, but remember that these kind of set pieces are Uncharted's bread and butter.

The two demos were a really great way to show off this game. Teases both areas of the game well.

PSX (mechanics) - Platforming, shooting, climbing, roping, stealth

E3 - what you can expect during set pieces

I just hope they don't show off too many more of the set pieces like they did with Uncharted 3.

Sensational! Simply the greatest set piece in VG history. The detail is simply staggering! If this is the quality the whole game will posess then 2016's game of the year is locked down! Huge UC fan and this is just beyond what I was expecting. Was also great to see another route for the jeep including proper dead ends.....The scripting for the whole thing must be nuts! ......extraordinary. ND I salute you.

No way Drake would willingly give any of it up

Unless
he has a kid

Or gets his hands cut off

I don't think they will......I imagine we'll get a story trailer in Paris at the end of the year which will no doubt contain a few scenes of what we're gonna get. I hope ND go on a blackout now until Paris. Head down, get it done, polish the life out of it.

I'll say this as someone who was unimpressed by the footage: people need to define what they mean by impressive. Graphically I think the game looks great but as far as gameplay, it really didn't impress me. You can say a bunch of stuff like "the transitions were seamless," "PHYSEX," or "you can actually drive the car now,"" but all of those do not cover up the fact that it was a slightly more advanced on rails section. I am more interested in gameplay experiences that are created by the player due to interaction with a sandbox, not what someone else thinks looks really cool for one playthrough. And yes, I understand that that may not be what uncharted is, but that doesn't mean that I can't criticize the game for being what it is.

The demo last year showed freedom in the way you as a player combat and explore (despite the linear level design for sake of progression). Just because there are set pieces like this doesn't mean the whole game is "on-rails".

This segment is just fun to play and watch. I never get tired of playing through the set pieces in my ND games.

Oh, I agree.

They are doing a brilliant job on what it actually is, and expanding naturally on what worked for the previous games. I'm not saying at all that these super-setpiece moments should somehow be open.

In fact, you can clearly see what is very much a "funnel" in level design in this video.

It starts with a shootout in the market, with different covers and possibilities. You jump into a car, and it has different paths and possibilities while being chased by the truck. Slowly, you make your way down and the level funnels into a chase to the convoy, again with some different paths. Eventually it funnels further into the rope sequence, then the truck, then the car again, all very linear. It all boils over in a shooting-only sequence with no camera-control to top it all off.

It's a very natural, impressive way to slowly take control away from the player as the stakes go up and the director takes over to show you what's happening.

They've mastered the linear setpiece -- as a PART of a more deep, thorough gameplay experience. I couldn't ask for more.

Well, I can ask for couch multiplayer :p
eloquently said, and very much in agreement.

UC4, Batman:AK, TW3 and MGS5, who could ask for anything else from the adventure/action genre in third person? Amazing time to be gaming.

well I won't say who's guess is any more accurate, but the point I'd challenge is ND not killing Drake simply for the legacy of the franchise. If the story wants Drake dead, I think ND will most certainly follow through with it.

It might be much more interesting to play as Francis anyway and change up the whole setting on us.

Solid to Naked to Big Boss

Drake to Francis to Pirate King

And some people thought there could be a competitor for Naughty Dog in this genre. Sony is REALLY LUCKY to have Naughty Dog in their first party studios.
