Nope, we knew when the teaser will end two months ago, where the panel will take place a month in advance and about Uchikoshi's involvement long before it was revealed. It was a lot of work, but some us just couldn't ignore the teaser and knowing those things and making sense of the chaos helped a lot. We also systematically eliminated things that the teaser isn't teasing, so it's been worth the time imo.

That series is very, very, very niche compared to ZE. Unlikely they'd make a 4 month long teaser for that for a Western audience.

I don't think so, IIRC VLR's budget (don't quote me on this) was between $1M and $5M or something, and TBF I am not sure a Kickstarter would be able to prepare that amount.

But that's stuff we all knew 2-3 weeks in, when the end point of the countdown was made obvious. Uchikoshi's involvement came from stuff like tweets and not the hints on the website, right?

if there is a KS involved, it's likely because it requires one. It's been known for a while that it's a lack of funding in the project that put it on hold in the first place. Great excuse to use KS to allow the fans to help it become reality.
