Wow, classy

I really kind of hope Miyamoto doesn't become CEO? Lots of respect for him, but I can't help but wonder if he has the "business mind" for the job.

I honestly think he does. Miyamoto and Iwata worked very closely for the last 20 years, it really felt more of a team effort than just Iwata pulling all the shots.

I didn't even know he was sick and being treated.

wasn't he very recently speaking in nintendo directs?

This just gets sadder and sadder. I saw it right when the news was being released and I'm getting hit the hardest right now. Gah damn man

Thank you for everything, Iwata

Honestly, I don't want Miyamoto as next CEO, I don't see him with the business mind as well, but I seriously hope that they will maintain Iwata's way of thinking even after his passing, especially in the development department. Seeing his comment, and considering Iwata was not alone in thinking that way, I hope it's such a profound cultural factor inside the company that it won't go away for a long time. Whoever steps in, after Satoru-san. Maybe with his personal interpretation, but without ever lossing the thinking's roots.

You know this situation makes me realise how much love I actually have for Nintendo. Yes they're a little hesitant to change at times, or might make decisions that seem strange. But the games they make are consistently enjoyable and exciting.

What the, I thought this was some stupid troll-thread! I'm having difficulty believing it, it's so sudden. I thought he was getting better.

Rest in peace Iwata, my thoughts go out to his friends, family and co-workers. :-(

Played some Splatoon amiibo challenges this morning, finished up and just as I was about to hit the home menu spotted a graffiti on the wall saying RIP Iwata. I wondered what the joke was, turned my character to face the plaza and saw a whole load of miiverse posts mourning him. Absolutely gutting.

Can I have one too please ?
I think that I am going to wear it for a while...

Yeah...I'd like a ribbonized avatar as well, please. :(

His last online presence was a good one, I loved the muppet concept for the Digital Event....rewatching it makes me feel so sad, now...

There's a rumor saying this Nintendo Direct used muppets to hide Iwata's health problems.
You couldn't hear that he was very ill in his voice, but you could see it physically.

Yikes.

55 is no age to be passing away at in this day and age.

I always liked Iwata and admired his evident passion for the business and his job.

RIP.

I don't know if this has been posted yet, too many pages to check, but Itoi's response broke me:

In any farewells, all you have to say is "See you again".
Friends see each other again.
There's nothing strange about it.
Yes. See you again.

I heard that you are going on a long journey.
It was supposed to be in the far future.
You never said it in words, but wearing your best outfit, you were saying "Sorry for it to be so sudden".

You always looked after somebody instead of yourself.
As such friend, maybe this journey is your first time being selfish.

To be honest, I still don't really believe anything.
I feel like you'll be sending me email to ask for lunch.
Just like always, you can call me and ask "If you have some free time".
Of course, I can always ask you too.

Anyway, "See you again".
You can call me anywhere, anytime, and I'll be calling you too.
There are things I want to discuss, and good ideas I want to tell you.

See you again.
No, we are seeing each other right at this moment.

Deaths happen in this industry all the time, but when they happen in the Nintendo family, they always seem to hit harder.

I was never too thrilled with what he did with Nintendo, but that's just me. He made so many people happy and THAT counts.

RIP, Iwata-san.
