Here's my setups. They're not fancy, but they get the job done.

Consoles pictured: Atari 7800, TurboGrafx-16, NES (top loading), SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, Wii U, Genesis with Sega CD and 32X add-ons, Saturn, Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One

Consoles not pictured: Commodore 64, Master System, PlayStation

The Master System is sitting a few feet away. I don't have it hooked up at the moment because I don't have the space for it after I switched TV (my old one had a flatter top that let me place it on top of it), and also because I don't have the cables for it (I use the Genesis ones when I want to play it). The Commodore 64 isn't plugged in because I only have one game (Frogger) on it, and it takes up a lot of space. The PlayStation isn't hooked up because of backwards compatibility on PlayStation 2 and 3.

If you're wondering what that crazy tower thing behind the Genesis is...it's three different video selectors stacked on top of each other.

And if you're wondering what kind of video cables are being used:

-RF: Atari 7800, Commodore 64, NES, TurboGrafx-16
-Composite: Master System, Genesis/Sega CD/32X
-S-video: SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, Saturn, Dreamcast
-Component: PlayStation 2, Xbox
-HDMI: PlayStation 3, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One

The Wii isn't using component due to some issues with the output on mine with it.

Just added a new sign to the media room and, since I have enjoyed seeing the entertainment areas of fellow Gaf members, I thought I would share some of mine as well. Still some work left to do over time, but love how the space came out.

I've finally moved to my new house and the living room is pretty much done outside of some stuff on the wall etc. Gaming Room 2.0 is coming along nicely, so I think I'll be able to post some pics soon-ish. Biggest change is I've chosen to focus more on the actual games and get rid of most of my figures. Not even close to all btw.

I'm planning a new set of shelves to put my collection since the beginning of the year. An architect designed one and yesterday I hired the guy who is going to build it. The shelves will be on a wall that has 4,29 meters (14,07 feet) in length and 3,8 meters (12,46 feet) in height, if I'm not mistaken. I also ordered some other shelves to put on the other wall. Everything should be able to hold approximately around 3000 games.

The end result should be something like this:

Yo, home owners with taste in home decoration!

I'm moving into a new apartment in a month, and we are finally planning to wallmount our TV to get some extra space (our apartment is fairly small, first one of our own). This means we are looking for a desk/bench (don't know the english word) with some height and at least three shelves that will be beneath our TV. It needs to have open shelves (no door) because it's for all of our consoles/recievers/machines and not too wide because it's a small space. Anyone know of anything similar? All the ones we've seen have had glass doors in front, and I'd rather not fry our electronics.

It needs to be easily available in Sweden/Norway, so something like IKEA would be convenient, or if any GAFfer from here knows anything better it would be awesome. Tips appreciated!

I concur with everyone else. That setup is perfect.

Personally I'd have a slightly larger TV sitting at that distance but it looks super cozy.

Those are some cozy digs you have there man. Your couches make me wanna just sink in on a Friday evening and not get up until Monday morning, watching and playing all kinds of entertainment on that sick 70" panel.

I feel like a total buster posting my setup.

Never feel ashamed of your setup. If that's what gets your game on, then it's what works for you. A lot of people in this thread have put a shit ton of time and money to get their setup just right. Seriously, go check out some of the older threads as well.

You'll get there.

Guessing that desk/table is from Ikea?

Great to see how everyone has different styles and setups.
Just to share mine:
For me a good mix between couch gaming on a high end pc and if I want I just game K/M on the second screen. I just switched to a mechanical keyboard which is fantastic!
The ps3 is standing there, but cant remember the last time I used it.

The rest of the setup:
a Panasonic plasma 42""
Marantz receiver 1501
Q acoustics speakers

My Orange box :)

Do you know where you got that map? Always on the look out for historical maps of the Caribbean.

OK doods. I am trying to design my next living room when I move back to my country. I love the idea of living small WITHOUT sacrificing functionality of social capabilities. I don't like the idea of having separate rooms for studying, working and hosting. I like to have ONE place where I can do everything!

I love computers, and I expect to do Netflix, CrunchyRoll or even my dvd's on a bigscreen from my PC. I also love the idea of playing my PC games in a TV when my GF or friends come over without the need of plugging-unplugging anything. Of course this would be moot if I don't have the ability to host people to come over and watch movies comfortably.

And since I am already having such a powerful setup, I don't feel comfortable NOT using it for work. Work means dual monitor setup though (besides the TV). So yeah a lot of things.

So I was thinking about a design that incorporates the following:

1> A PC as both a gaming, Media center and dual screen work station
2> Two consoles in TV
3> Is comfortable enough for people to sit their asses down for hours
4> Is stylish and clean.

So I came up with this setup:

2015-07-17%2020_15_12-Sala.png

Instead of a laptop imagine a dual screen setup. All wiring will be taken and distributed through the wall.

Is there anything else I am missing? Has anybody tried this and succeeded or failed? why?

Thanks for any suggestions you might have
(this desk would have two monitors)

There are some crazy awesome setups in here! (Big and Small. Money spent isn't everything IMHO... Although I wish I had more to spend on mine lol!)
I'm totally keeping an eye on this thread to see what other ideas I can implement into mine.

Just a basic but functional setup.

Calm and relaxing is what I was going for... (sorry about the low quality pics)

(But what about the heat?!?) Don't worry... I have huge unit sized rectangles cut out the back of my entertainment center for my PC, PS4 etc.

And I never game on my pc without having that front door open lol!

Love the look of that apartment, so bright and nice with the big windows.

How do you like the Bitfenix case? I'm thinking of picking it up as a case for my HTPC/LAN computer.

After years of lurking these threads, and years of setting up my stuff, I have finally gotten my setup to the point where I feel it's pretty much how I want it.Sans the eventual PS4. The room is also my living room and kitchen, so there's not much room and I want everything to be as simple and quiet as possible.

s6pwjDL.jpg

The TV is a Bravia KDL-50W705, I wanted something that had no 3D or Smart BS, just a really great picture and minimal design. Great bang for buck that model. It also comes witha a wall mount, and is light enough to hang on dry wall with no problems. The reciever is an Onkyo 636, which is also a great model, and does everything I want and has a whopping 7 HDMI ports! The box on the right is my PC, in a Fractal Node 605 case, and runs super silent even though it has a 970 and i5 4670 and a few drives.

aIrNjPp.jpg

The shelf is an Ikea Hemnes, but I modified it with a black wood plate, on which I could m ount all my routers and wires. It looks way worse than it actually is back there, it used to be a huge mess, now at least everything is mounted on the shelf, and moves as a unit.

oeMG0t2.jpg

My wifes' iMac, and my Dell U2414H monitor, which is connected to the PC with 10m long USB and HDMI cables, and also a split cable from the XBOne.

And the opposite wall has all my old games and handhelds and such.

I really like the bitfenix prodigy. I have the ITX version and i can put a long gpu in there with some good cpu cooling, so overall a nice case. Especially if you plan to take it to LAN's. Just make sure the PSU you buy fits in there and is modular.

One day when I get over my agoraphobia and panic attacks I'll be able to move out and get myself setup properly with room to put some proper furniture and space out my sound system more appropriately but this does considering my situation.

Much the same as last yet but I did a recent PC and monitor upgrade so might as well show it;

Added new monitor and video card, so I took the opportunity to strip the case and hit it with the air compressor and use a cloth to clean all the fan blades + add another 200mm fan + another 140mm fan. So plenty of fans now.

Thanks man! I'll go for the Micro ATX version though as I already have an old crappy motherboard i'm planning to use.

I think I have mine mostly organized finally, just need to put up some gaming posters when I'm not lazy. Don't have enough space to keep my whole collection out on display at once, but this is definitely most of it. I'll hopefully be adding a Wii U to it relatively soon.

Notable omissions: SNES, Wii, Virtualboy, Gameboy, Wonderswan, all my physical Mac/PC games.

And before anyone asks: yes that fan is extremely old. It's about as old as I am, actually. But it's also extremely reliable. It's pretty much a family heirloom now.
