After seeing Scalebound i fear for Nier 2.

Why? Nier was barely an rpg. It was ostensibly a semi-open world action game with weapon upgrading and items. If you've watched Yoko Taro speak before you would KNOW that he doesn't care AT ALL about gameplay (he said this specifically himself). Handing it to a team who actually cares to make a mechanically sound game (despite if the feel of it isn't what you "expect") is perfectly fine.

I think Scalebound is different not because it's just P* but because it's Kamiya.

Wait, what the FUCK? I don't want to overreact, but I had no idea the main character was one of those people. How can I relate to him now?

I'm not a judgmental person but when I read your post I literally gagged. It tasted like a lizard farted in my mouth.

You had a real shot to make a cool action RPG, Kamiya, and you blew it. Screw this, pre-order canceled.

This game looks really cool. I hope it turns out to be awesome because we need more dragon games. Lair 2 should come out improving on Lair in every way. It's time for the dragon renascence.

Saw the gameplay demo played live at gamescom today. The presentation during the conference didn't do it justice. It looked smooth and awesome. Dragon customisation seems very deep and levelling your dragon seems fun! When drew uses the lance/spear his attacks are much faster than with the sword and it seems you can rack up some nice combos. Seems kamiya to use a slower weapon (hammer was his favourite combo weapon from w101 iirc), but faster weapons seem more fun.

Went to see the horizon demo after the scalebound one. Scalebound kicked it's butt in epic huge monster fighting and fun and intense gameplay.

Will buy xbone just for this game.
 
Huh, didn't realise Dante was a fan of The Prodigy.

edit: Goddamnit, the main characters a lefty? Fuck. I wasn't going to buy an Xbox One, and the game play trailer didn't wow me that much, but if this is where I have to go to get some goddamn representation then I guess I'll have to get it.

Gamespot is saying it was smooth behind closed doors as well. I wonder what happened. Maybe an older but more stable build was played onstage?

Probably. Behind closed doors, having a demo crash while shitty, isn't as bad as having your gameplay premiere during a conference crash.

Anyways, all the details from Gamescom coming out sound great. Can't wait to see more of it.

I think this game looks really interesting. The protagonist still isn't doing much for me, but hopefully they'll make him less obnoxious by the time the game is out. The world/environments look great, and I like the dragon combat. Tbh I've never been into Platinum's games before either but this one is pretty cool looking.

I totally agree. Horizon looks cool and very promising, but Scalebound looked cooler.

Nothing at Gamescom topped it for me.

Looks pretty good though. Definitely interested in this, but some things don't really work for me. The music was platinum meh, and the damage? points looks so out of place. As do things like those red gems he collected, they look like something you'd see in PS1 Spyro, not something like this. I love the aesthetic, graphics look great, but some things just don't seem to work together. Overall, it needs a bit of polish (which I'm sure it'll get by release). Gonna follow this pretty closely!

Also those voices...eh...

Guessing there is a high chance of a rival character with his/her own dragon arm and dragon.

Some sort of rival character is more or less inevitable. What's less likely is said character being playable like Alastor and Jeanne, especially since it's an open-world RPG and not a linear action game - though perhaps something like Okami's alternate character costumes available on New Game+ could be implemented.

Not really feeling this. Seems to be having an identity crisis. Hopefully it comes together but right now some of the elements and design choices are a turnoff for me. Downgraded to, "Need to see more".

Yeah I'm looking forward to seeing those things as well(and some of the other weapons). Hopefully, we get some more info from IGN First soon.
