is your goal in this thread just to bash everything that isnt the Wii U version? All of your posts seem to have a common theme so far

Dude. Every single thing I mentioned in this thread is based on factual evidence. I was also excited for a PC version. However, I am not going to defend this piece of crap port for obvious reasons posted before. To save you trouble, here they are again:

I will confirm it once more.

- Not able to loot dead Friends.
- Not able to leave messages to Friends.
- Unable to see your own shadow (lol).
- Unable to be truly immersed (no Gamepad, way too much brightness)
- Terrible UI
- Missing visual effects (Texture Filtering, Filters, shadows and detail on various objects and Zombis.

Even though it's a flawed port, it's still fun. If you don't own the Wii U version, it's still worth checking out. Hopefully they can patch things.

I've read the whole post. My point is that much higher resolution and 60 fps is not minor. In fact, I could very much argue that the missing gameplay elements are minor, but you can subjectively say they have more impact on the gameplay than 60 fps, I guess.

That the game looks better and runs better (and, consequently, plays better) on PC is pretty much an objective statement.

That doesn't sound rational to me at all. Considering that the port is missing a visual effect (the camera lens stuff) which some might prefer, you can't really say it looks objectively better. It has higher image quality for sure due to the resolution. That is objectively the case. Despite you saying you read the whole post, I think you didn't get my point at all with the whole objective/subjective preference thing.

I'll just drop this here.

It's a little stuttery (very slightly)and it's not a pretty game but the PC version is a good port. Any particular reason why you can't drop the Cricket bat once you find a new melee weapon?

All right, what is the gameplay? Is this open world? Is it just a first person shooter/combat focused? Is there crafting or survival type gameplay? Is it pretty story based or quest based?

I'm just curious cause all I know about it is I heard it was good and people bemoaning that since it was on Wii U only at the time it was going to fail even though it was good. But I don't know what at all to expect or if this is something I might like.
It's linear in that there are zones you are sent to, and open in the sense that there is a certain amount of backtracking and revisiting areas, traversing one to get to another, etc.

It's not shooter focused, there's a lot of melee. It's a true survival game, so resources are limited and avoiding to attract attention is often your best bet. If you have to fight, singling out enemies is key, as even a handful of zombies attacking at the same time can overwhelm you. You do get some firearms later in the game, but it never turns into an action game/shooter like the Dead Space sequels. There is an overarching story (you're a survivor in the aftermath of a Zombie apocalypse in London who is trying to escape the city and while doing so is being enlisted by an organisation as one of the few surviving humans left to secure a certain macguffin.

Structurally, it's mainly quest-based, with you getting new tasks from 1-2 operators over comms, leading you to new areas.

It's very good.

Meh, the only redeeming feature of this game was the multiplayer. Without that it's just generic zombie game #9729

I wouldn't really say it's generic really, it's got a few unique mechanics to it.

In fact the MP wasn't even really a big feature of the Wii U version if I remember right it was just there.

Game has great atmosphere and for the most part actually makes you feel like a survivor.

Eh, it's not the prettiest looking game. And for sure it has flaws.

But I can finally play it. I am not buying a Wii U for this when I can pick it up for the systems I own. So what if it's a little worse looking? Rather spend 20 bucks then 300.

The games pretty damn fun. I like that it's slower and more about survival, then Dead Rising/Dead Island style.

If it's a poor port then it shouldn't have legs. The quality of the port should determine its life. Especially if people know what is in the original and what is missing. It's not wrong to point out the negatives a port is missing. Poorly developed or ported games shouldn't find success.

Outside of technial issues and online friends number of folks are saying that its a good game and still decent experience.

Problem is not pointing out what is wrong with the port....problem is to point it out...then proceed to do it again and again...and again....I been watching this guy post for quite some time drilling in to our hands how much of a shit port this is and how much WiiU is better. It's like beating a dead horse.

Criticism is fine as long as it's done with moderation.

What is aggravating people is that many of us DO NOT OWN WiiU, and this port, no matter how poor is our only way to play this gem of a game. While it by no means a defense for the port and for us to say that this is great port, because it's not, but for TWENTY DOLLARS I will take limited version and play it for what it is. Ubi could have shoved this down our throat with $60 release instead.

All this extra negative bullshit slinging efforts will only undermine this game longevity and potential for proper sequel in near future, because if numbers show it they will make it.

Its already 5th rank on Top Sellers on Steam.

Only on WiiU the true vision can be realized and experienced. I don't want people to throw away 20$ on a bad port that doesn't stay true to the original vision.

Provided its a technically sound port, the game is just the same as it was on the Wii U, minus the (expendable) gamepad stuff (which is often used to justify the console's purchase by close-minded gamers).

The only real loss is the multiplayer, which was great. Rest was gimmicky at best.

Reviews on Steam look goods, and it looks like it's selling.

Which is a good thing.

but I would much rather pay 20 dollars and experience this than go buy a console that I dont have, then the wii u version. Its a nice option, for a fun game

and I have wanted to play this game since it came out. almost considered buying a wii u just for this game when it came out

No, it varies between 10 - 60 fps.

Texture filtering was ass on Wii U.

Aside from the filters the other points are debatable too.

Lol this is still just Zombi U bro. This port is worth the money if you didn't play it on Wii U yet imo.

Bought and almost downloaded. I'm looking forward to playing this again.

Since I only died once when I played the Wii U version (sloppy mistake in Buckingham Palace), I'm tempted to start right away on survival mode. Knowing my luck, I'll probably die 5 minutes from the end of the game, though.

The only thing that's stopping me from buying it on PC is that god-awful Uplay. I don't want another DRM to pop up obnoxiously whenever I launch the game.

This thread is a gold mine for sour grapes phenomenon (whether that be with regards to the gamepad, superior graphical fidelity of the PC, or the multiplayer) and cognitive dissonance.

I wonder if you could even just take this thread and the original ZombiU thread, and effectively do a case study on this.

I was gonna double dip for the PS4 version, but I decided to stick with the Wii U version. It's good that people who don't own a Wii U will get to play it though.

"unable to be truly immersed" is possibly the most hilariously stupid negative ive ever heard levelled at a port lol.
Next up, "unable to experience true joy as developers intended", "original euphoria quotient diminished by approximately 5".

You are not some arbiter of what "true vision" for this game is. For me, 60fps with zero drops is way more important than multiplayer or some gamepad gimmick (whose gameplay effect is very well translated in PC version anyway). It is not a bad port by any stretch of imagination, so stop painting it as such.

this looks really bad port.

Actually, no.

The only thing that's stopping me from buying it on PC is that god-awful Uplay. I don't want another DRM to pop up obnoxiously whenever I launch the game.

Uplay prolongs the load of the game by about 3 seconds. If you already have an account, it is complete non-issue.

I really wanted to play something till the release of Dishonered and Until Dawn next week because I'm bored as hell.......

So I think I better off waiting till next week and skip this?

I love it when people cry about games that are no longer exclusives. They want to feel special and entitled. They need to justify their purchase by involving themselves in fake console wars.

So here's a comparison by Eurogamer between the PS4 version and Wii U version:
Zombi vs ZombiU

Looks great. I'm headed to the web store to buy it and have my PS4 download while I'm at work. Honestly, I won't miss the dirty lens. Looks noticeably brighter too which is a huge plus for me. The Wii U version is too damn dark.

Lots of salty console warrior shit in this thread and the other one. I think that video speaks louder than any "my friend said" stuff.

Yes, I'm sure before WiiU developers were thinking "oh man, if only there was a tablet controller so we could finally make our true vision of a zombie game happen".

If you mean the zombies of friends thing.. it's a cool little touch, but in no way affects what the game is all about.

I think you guys are overreacting to an extent. This is a flawed port, yes, but it's not unplayable by any means. In several hours, I've only experienced a small amount of glitches.

It's still worth playing if you want to, but if you own the Wii U version it's unnecessary.

yes, that true vision of ZombiU where it originally started as a game about alien invasions and shifted to zombies mid-development.

that true vision

Your friend can't say anything in the new versions, they removed the message-feature.

If only it had sold more than 4 copies, the developers vision could have remained pure on the glorious Wii U and not been hampered by the limitations of the lesser consoles and "Personal Computer" (but can you really call it that with all the viruses and hackers?). I, for one, am boycotting Ubisoft titles on Wii U going forward. They obviously don't respect the true vision of this title.

The game is great. And the mechanics without the game pad work fine. It sucks they took the Dark Souls elements out which is lazy but the rest is preference based. I like the game-pad implementation but I prefer using a controller over it any day of the week.

If you have a Wii U go buy zombi u for cheap and its amazing. If you don't buy this version as although it is somewhat lazy the game is still excellent and worth playing.

I see you guys are making fun of the "True Vision©" of the original game. Wow. I would have also liked a good PC port. However, too many things are missing or altered. I completed the original more then 5 times and for me to dip back it should be an improved experience. This is clearly not the case.

so far the most disgusting thing to me is that you have to hold L3 to run.
Hated it in Bad Company, I'll hate it here.

I wonder if you can toggle in the options to press L3 to start running, but dont have to hold it down. I know some games you can do that in the options, just press it to start, then just keep holding forward and he keeps running, without having to keep the button held down.

No, it varies between 10 - 60 fps.

You can change the brightness on the PC version

Stable 60 fps at 4k res downscaled to 1080p with ultra smaa (GeDoSaTo)
