Meh, my delivery got postponed to Monday because I worked from home today and the delivery address was my office one. If only I had known they'll send it so soon. I was so excited to play it over the weekend too. :(

I got this today! I also got a shirt.

Been playing for about five hours now. Embargo is on me, but let me say that this is the most innovative, in-depth, awesome and scary cinematic survival horror experiece yet. Stupidly great writing and acting. Just wow. Part cheesy, part serious and always cliche in a brilliant way.

I'm betting this a GOTY for many.

I got my two first trophies just like an hour ago. They didn't show up in the trophy list, I guess they've disabled it until launch.

I'm going to mirror these thoughts. Granted I need to finish my first playthrough in order to see how different things can be. That said... they nailed the horror movie vibe. Is it part slasher flick? Part spiritual? Part Saw? Holy shit I don't know. I just know I'm dying to play more and I'm still left wondering, how the fuck am I going to change THAT outcome. Also my wife and I had the biggest fucking jump scare in a long time. You folks with headphones are gonna shit your pants, have an extra pair ready lol

Nope. No steelbook for NA that I can find. Looks like you can get the bonus chapter everywhere by preordering, but that's it.

Shame. I was looking forward to it... I would have loved to put it along sides my Bloodborne and The Order 1886 steelbooks. :/

if this game is as good as some people including that reviewer here is hyping it out to be then good for ps4. Aside from bloodborne most if not almost all their AAA exclusive has been a failure so far meaning subpar to bad games. Sony can use a AAA hit on the exclusive front.

Not sure about that. It's a niche game, it's a horror game and basically it's a "cinematic experience" type of game, but it kinda isn't that. It's one of its kind. I'm expecting loads of love/hate.

Until Dawn's gameplay and story is just way over what we've been used to. It's innovative and clever. I hope people find it as awesome as I do. Loving it.

It's clever, but most people who watched enough horror/suspense films will figure out what is going on half way through the game if they pay very close attention and are well versed with genre tropes.

A "cinematic experience"? Sure. Niche? Not as much as it used to be... when you look at stuff like Life is Strange, Telltale's The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among, Games of Thrones, Tales from Borderlands, upcoming Minecraft Story, an upcoming "Marvel-related" title... games like those are already getting mainstream appeal.

Let's not go down to that spoilery slope. :) I know what you're talking about, but I have to see the end first. Also when the game has lots of endings, I'm sure Supermassive guys and gals fit few unorthodox ones in the mix as well. We'll have to see.

I really hope so! Life is Strange might be my GOTY, need to see that fift episode first. EDIT: Dontnod showed Telltale how these games are done, now Supermassive is cleaning the table and just raising the bar to the sky.

Unless you have been following the game thoroughly... these people won't have the same expectations since the game's Butterfly Effect system can easily alter the way the player's story can branch out. Based of the several interviews, it's highly likely that a lot of people won't have the same ending... due to all those permutations within the game's storyline(s).

EDIT: Have you started playing the game already? Were you part of the press preparing their reviews for Monday's embargo or were you part of the lucky customer to get your hands on an early copy?

Hope they gonna fix the BS they did in the Episode 4's ending. I hate that kind of stuff to happen... :/

I dunno. Bloodborne was great, but 2 of my favorite games ever made have been exclusive on PS4. Res0gun and Driveclub. Maybe Until Dawn will be great, but it seems like you're basing what you typed, on metacritic or something.

I'm well versed and have many thoughts on what "could" be happening but I wouldn't say I'm definitely on top of it. It's got me thinking hardcore.

Talk about stretching.

I've been watching people stream the game and make different decisions. I have also talked to people who already beat it. PSN is becoming very diligent in taking down Twitch Streams.

EDIT: Some people were going for no death runs which was damn interesting to say the least before they got banned.

So...? It's not like Until Dawn had a canon story. So people who used/loved to watch those kind of horror movies (the slasher type)... could still be surprised by the writing of the game's story. But yeah... people should also expect similar/familiar events that's characteristic to the Horror-Slasher genre.

Don't think too hard

You do realize that the killer... could turn out to be anyone among 8 or 9 main characters/friends? (based on the last few interviews)

omg. I hope this is a common sentiment. When is the embargo up? Damn I'm excited for this.

Edit: I love that Life Is Strange is a GOTY contender for you (AmaterasuOni) as well. Means you've got good taste so hopefully I can trust what you're saying.

It's hard to explain without getting into spoiler category.

Don't buy into the marketing please. It's misdirection.
There is set killer/killers

If the writing is clever... it doesnt' stop it from being a good or a great one at it, even though if the genre it pays tribute to is usually predictable to its similar/familiar tropes/events. Are you saying that people are not gonna like the story because of the horror-slasher genre they were aiming for?

Yo what's up with all the fucking spoilers. Apparently you don't want to play the game and just watch streams, but don't ruin it for the people who do want to play the game. Jesus.

The key thing is that it's not just
slasher-genre

Sure... the game needed, to some capacity,
a set of killer(s)
in order to rely the multilple choices on similar grounds.

Are we talking about "The Order: 1886" bad/bland level of writing here? From what we've seen in the interviews and impressions, I would doubt it.

EDIT: I knew TO would have bland writing, whether it was the storyline or the characters... but Until Dawn has actual chances to prove people wrong. Don't you think?

I can.t wait to play this game (well, have my friends play this game to be more precise). I love watching horror games and I love the concept of the game.

Can the motherfuckers who are watching streams and dropping increasingly transparent posts please shut the fuck up?

With all due respect, of course.

But seriously, please STFU

The writing is very good and very clever.

In that case... we shouldn't have to worry. Personally, I am not expecting huge surprises in any way... especially due to the genre the game has. I just want the story and the characters to be interesting and believable (to some capacity). :p

EDIT: Can't wait to play the game!! :D

Dude. Dude.... Dude

I don't know if you know what you're saying there, but fuck man, you'd better pray that's accurate, cause LiS is rocking my world right now, and if this game is even 3/4 of what that brought to the table...

TGO

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Whoes doing the OT? Games out in like 3 days and most will have it before then.

This is true. Until Dawn's interactive movie-style of gameplay could've been considered niche five years ago, but Heavy Rain has come out since then and defied commercial expectations by becoming a massive success. Telltale attempted to replicate that same recipe with Jurassic Park and fell flat on their face, tried it again with The Walking Dead and fared far better, and now Dontnod are currently enjoying some acclaim by aping Telltale's episodic structure and multi-choice combo. What Until Dawn is doing isn't really beyond mainstream appreciation anymore. It's the kind of game a lot of people were clamouring for after playing Heavy Rain - that same branching narrative and perma-death formula, but transported to the realm of the horror genre. After all, how do you take Quantic Dream's breakout hit and make it even more intense? You add a scare factor!

Honestly, I'm surprised it's taken this long to happen. David Cage should've been on that shit the moment development on Heavy Rain wrapped up. Instead, he settled on the tepid Beyond.

Is this game getting a custom audio profile for the headset app? Because I am definitely playing this with my Pulse Elite on.

I hope this game gets good reviews. I need another game with choices like this that also has good production values. Most of the stuff in the genre is lacking in the visual department. A horor Heavy Rain would be great.

Just finished it and... wow.

It's something quite extraordinary. It's like reinventing the wheel and putting it on fire. I'm actually quite speechles. Need to revisit some of the things tomorrow.

LiS and UD are completely different beasts even though both are "cinematic experiences". UD wiped everything clean, this is how you make these games. And I still love LiS.

Sorry for the tease guys. I'm eagerly waiting for Monday to see what other people have to say about it. I can't wait to clear my head on this one.
