Uh? I love MGS2 and Raiden's MGS2. But yes, I don't accept that everyone can become like Snake, no way. Again, Raiden had a purpose and they achieved the result, but it's one case and one only.
I really want to see how a random medic can live up to the great Big Boss and even feed his myth. Hopefully it's not like
"ehi dude, you're Big Boss"
"who?"
"the greatest soldier ever lived"
"oh ok. Yeah I kinda feel like that now that you mention it"

But Raiden could have been anyone. Raiden just had similar conditions as Solid Snakes story.

For all intent and purposes Raiden had repressed all his memories as a child soldier. He mostly went through VR.

and while the Medic is a medic he still would have had to gone through military training.

I get your overall point and why you find fault in it but I have to believe this is literally a precursor to the S3.

Taboo could refer to torture or the child soldiers. Both are featured.

Phantom Pain has dual meanings. The first is literal. The pain from lost limbs.

The second is even more literal. It's about Big Boss' phantom and his pain.

Basically the same boat I'm in. And unless the coma thing is all a ruse as well (which it doesn't appear to be based on the hospital gameplay where the character is weak with atrophied muscles), I'm not sure exactly how he would be been trained sufficiently to take over for Big Boss in the first place. The Boss, Big Boss, his clones, and MGS2 Raiden (due to extensive reenactment training made possible through top of the line futuristic VR decades later) are part of a legacy of top tier "supersoldiers" throughout the series.

And now we're learning that a comatose buddy, who isn't even a career fighter, is able to completely and flawlessly take over for Big Boss, not only for morale purposes around the base, but also as someone capable of soloing field ops just like the legend?

It would have been more believable if it were Ocelot, who was at least The Boss's own son and a warrior with years of experience both on his own and with Big Boss. Obviously more plot holes would be created, but it's not like the series isn't wacky enough already.

The stream I'm watching is awful. He took forever to make a stupid ass looking character and he keeps pausing the game. This is my first time seeing the full intro.
