The guy makes more than neurosurgeons playing video games.

You can't argue with that - ever.

Kudos to him for building such a massive audience/following!

I remember watching him when he had around 10,000 subs. I really enjoyed his Amnesia/Pneumbra playthroughs, tried watching a video of his a few months ago and I found him unbearable, lol. Guess I got too old for his act.

Good for him. I don't watch his videos anymore, but the dude is definitely doing something right to be able to hit such a huge milestone. He must've definitely struck some sort of gold years ago to be able to gather up such a large fanbase. Again, props to him.

Lol, how? Cartoons didn't exist before the age they were created.
I didn't mean in your example but general terms. Someone from the old generation is always talking about how bad the newer one is. You're doing that now with pewdiepie like people did when they saw looney tunes back in day.

There is more to editing than cutting and combining? Then please enlighten me on what else happens because that is the general definition.

Making effects, adding effects, making sure the audio levels are okay, messing with all the dynamic options in audio to make it not sound like ass like normalization and compression and all that stuff, ducking, converting file types, screwing around with the options of the video editing program because there's a decent chance something will go wrong (ESPECIALLY if you're playing PC games).

A lot of people seem to think that the recording program will do all the work for you (me included before I started). lolnope, everything is a mess when it's done recording and it's your job to make it not a mess.

Hell adding subtitles for a funny montage video is a fucking nightmare and takes forever. Ain't no program that does it for you, you gotta manually add each word and make sure it syncs with the audio.

He seems like a nice guy, so fair play, good hustle etc, but this is one phenomenon that leaves me baffled. I've never seen something so insubstantial get so big. It's bizarre. I understand why bad pop music or Hollywood movies get so popular, but this stuff eludes me, his clips are just... nothing.

The benefit of hindsight isn't necessary to see that there's a lot more artistry and originality going into the creation of a Looney Tunes short than a video of PewDiePie reacting while playing a game.

People thought celebrity gossip magazines were stupid trash when they first emerged. Guess what, we still think that.

No, just no. Not in the slightest is he the hardest working person on Youtube.

Erm, he's a youtuber not a pop/movie star. He's not making THAT much money.

4 million a year for making videos on the Internet? His costs must be almost nothing. That's an incredible amount of money.

I saw this and finally watched a few clips. Meh I get why kids like him. Don´t think I will watch more from him but I have seen worse.

The kids sure do seem to like him. I have absolutely no idea why.

No one in my age group can stand listening to him for longer than five seconds.

Credit where credit's due. Can't hate the playa for doing a successful hustle.

But I'm gonna hate anyway cause I'm a hater, goddamn it.

So on average, every person on earth has watched him more than once.

Once your settings are dialed in, provided no one messes with them before the next recording, things should be pretty effortless from that point onward. You can set up timelines, audio presets, etc. to just drag and drop elements, then render and you're done.

"Who is Pewdiepie?"

His vids aren't for me, but hey he made the dough and entertained people, so good on him I guess.

He is Pee-Wee Herman for today's internet kids. I prefer the talking chair, flashing magic screen and Cowboy Curtis but that has more to do with me being old than any imagined difference in the sophistication of the two. He could really use some puppet friends though, dude seems lonely.

ive not really seen one of his videos fully yet, but i will now after reading this thread just to give him more money and piss most of the people in here off.

Absolutely hilarious.

To me this means absolutely nothing I've seen a couple gaming videos and now YouTube thinks I should watch this pew guy.
It's a flipping scheme of youtube they advertise him so hard themselves.

Not a fan yadayada, but I've seen some early swedish interviews with him a long time ago and he just seems pretty likeable as a person based on those.
I also got this video linked to me yesterday and found it really funny. He's quite charismatic and I enjoy the videos where he's more himself and less the screaming persona.

I absolutely loathe his content but I'm proud of him.

I cannot fathom why people hate this guy, he has such a positive attitude and is a decent role model considering the medium.

Well he is definitely right about us Swedes not being able to get offended. We just generally don't give a shit what people think of us. I think stuff like this for instance is hilarious. If you make a stereotypical joke about us and a Swede tells you it isn't funny, that guy probably votes for The Swedish Democrats and you are free to keep ridiculing him on behalf of the rest of us.

I'm with Jimmy Kimmel but that's because we're both old and out of touch.

So props to a guy who knows his audience!

Congrats to him. :)

He's entertaining millions of people, kids especially, and he's making a lot of money in the process. That's cool.

He seems like a really nice guy to me, and though I'm not a big fan of most of his videos, some of his videos are pretty funny in my humble opinion.
