Forza Motorsport 6 has "wet weather, 3D puddles and night races" + more

So is this game way more sim for me to have fun with it? I'm a casual racer fan, am I better off sticking to fh2 or can I still play casually with fm6 without having to spend hours tuning cars?

The game has a lot of assists just like in FH2 and the drivatar dificulty is highly adjustable, so yes you can play it casually no problems

It offers a good amount of range for the sim and the casual audience

Turn on some assists and buy some of the higher cost mod packs and hope you get lucky with some rare + grip +brake mod card (I have +15% on both) and this basically plays like Horizon.

When you say buy, is that an in store game or real money?

Store in-game (game money), you can buy some "cards" that apply modification to your car, things like 15% more grip or 5% more traction on a certain track (its random)

But it really is not necessary, just turning traction control, abs and stability control its not that far from horizon, you'll just won't be able to race on the middle of the grass like you would in FH2

I'm on holiday and my GF is currently ill so I'm in the hotel room. I want to play this so bad, scrolling through this and the photo thread. If only I had a W10 device so I could stream my box. Wouldn't work well halfway across the world like.

Is career mode accessible for casual players too? In fh2 I know it was just go event to event.

Also, do you have to grind in hour long races?

haven't played that much of career but its mostly 2-3 lap races on series of events (similar to horizon, you pick a car type - hot hatches for example and run 4 races on it, to advance you need to be at least 3rd infinite retries, all the assists and Ai difficulty are adjustable to your skill

About the hour long, I think (not sure) that they put the option to do some races like that but they are not mandatory for advancement (sure it wont be forced on you)

Gotcha thanks. That's what I liked about fh2 is that you can just play a few races quickly and stuff. I'm not interested in endurance stuff.

Anyone else having issues installing the Forza MX5 DLC. Every time I try and install it I get the installation stopped error. Anyone have any suggestions how to fix this?

Can't say the career is great tough, its just pick a series of races and do it, there are no championships, qualifies or anything like that
It had not changed much from Forza 5 or 4.

The best part of the game for me is do some custom races for how many laps i want on the conditions i want, career is not really that good (worse than horizon imo)

Do you want my Minecraft dirt vinyl?

For some reason game won't sync my files from FM5. I tried old save from the hard drive and nothing, then newer from cloud and still nothing it goes on forever and nothing happens. It syncs Horizon 2 just fine, it has problem with FM5 only.

Worse than Horizon 1 for sure but better than the shit show that 2 was. Good god the amount of silly races in that game plus the whole road trip shit that had already outstayed its welcome by the second time you had to do it.

I should know the answer to this but are home spaces back ala fm4? I loved just throwing on some tunes and having the top gear track or alps as a screen saver.

I've kind of enjoyed the road trips, I hate the off-road races and the scripted "race against a baloon that its almost impossible to lose"

I did all 168 championships in Horizon 2. The road trips were not fun. That shit didn't add anything to the game.

I think the road trips were there to be a way to explore the world. But like you I wasn't a fan. I got tired of them real quick and just fast traveled.

Didn't like the mod system at first, thought it was out of place but I am beginning to like it. From the looks of it you can have one permanent booster and two temporary at any time, correct?

The idea of the challenge ones seem cool, although I would still probably prefer it if the mod system wasn't there and you could just choose from a list of challenges that would grant +%XP/Affinity/Credits.

Has anyone tested whether mods can be used in multi, I would assume and hope not?

I thought having a "cruise time" without the gravitas of normal championship races was a nice pace-changer between more structured race events. It was also supposed to be a warm-up for new vehicle choices. I thought one of the strengths of Horizon 2 was the deliberate pace of the different types of events. Special events, road trips, offroad point-to-point, and road races in a rotation that let you choose the vehicles and regions you would work through is one of the better setups I've seen in a racing game.

Ive gone through the first 8 races or so. The two that stick out are the first one in the rain and the first special indy car race.

Rain: holy crap its impressive. It was a ton of fun driving in it. Will be interesting when Im driving a more powerful car.

Indy: my god the feeling of acceleration and speed. My first reaction was: 7 laps? wow thats a lot. And after multiple 30 second laps it was over quick.

So far Im impressed with the new stuff. Enjoying it!

Just tried a few races with the pad and it's so much easier than using the wheel, repaired some of the damage done to my self-esteem in those online races earlier. Might have to give normal steering a go with the wheel and see if that makes it easier to regain control when the back end starts to go.

Loving the game despite my incompetence though, so satisfied that even the music is starting to sound pretty good.

What racing wheel is everyone using for this?

Thrustmaster TX.

Man I love this game. I have to say that the Fast and Furious car pack is really nice and very well done. I'm so glad that they didn't take the easy route and use the same pack from FH2. There are some really great cars in that pack, just disappointed that I can't use any of them yet in career. Not too happy about the career being gated like this. That's why I loved the grid from 4 because I could play whatever I felt like.

Oh God so the demo is actually the beginning of the full game? Gah. Unskippable kindergarten teacher voice disabling my controller while I listen to her tell me what XP is again...

Just let me playyyyy

I want to believe they told the composer he was working on the next Marvel movie. And then when he was done they were all like just kidding, it's a car racing game, thanks.

lol I love the music in this. Adds some much needed flavor. The choir in Forza 5 annoyed me to no end.

Well it also was an opportunity to try out new cars, every championship was an opportunity for discovery. But if you stick to only a handful of cars I could see it becoming monotonous.

Welp. Thats disconcerting.

But I went and did a full hard reset, and saw that the controller could use an update, got that 1.1.2182.0 firmware installed, and now I'm hoping for the best.

Between the disconnects and the narrator lady taking my control away to tell me about assists for the third time I was on the verge of losing it ;p

I get it, the game has assists. It starts you with all of them enabled. Why won't she stop bringing it up?

The few times I got the disconnects was solved when I bought new Eneloops.

And yes handholding is a little silly for veterans.
