The funny part is, in many ways this looks like a generation behind AC:Unity graphically. And boy, were people down on that game.

Seriously this the amount of "shit" that has been lost in this thread over still,compressed images is amazing.
This argument comes up again and again, but compression doesn't eat up shadows, draw distance, foliage or geometric detail.

I sure hope the consoles at least have that. guess we can' t expect much more from this engine.

Take the screenshot from the vault for example, why is it so bright? It reminds me of the Skyrim screenshots back then from BGS themselves, showing a dungeon full of skeletons and it was just overly bright, as if someone was using the wrong black level setting. Hopefully that's the case now as well.

Or maybe voicing dissatisfaction so they notice and make ES6 balls to the wall build for the current gen systems.

How do people every get by in life always agreeing to the status quo? Maybe if people also did not bring in gameplay into a graphics/screenshot thread (like par for the course), this would not such a lengthy debate.

I must say, Batman: Arkham Knight is the best looking open world game on consoles and it runs flawless. Arkham Knight get's overlooked because of it's shitty PC port.
I think AK looked beautiful, but with limited open world activities it's possible to tune the graphics to the max, and for what it's worth, I still think GTA V for NG is probably still the best looking open world game this gen.

Yea the silence here with Bethesda is unnerving. They are either too cocky or too scared. None are good considering the uproar with the visuals.

Looks bad, and it's missing effects that were shown previously. If that's really what the console versions will look like I may just go PC despite wanting it on PS4.

These pics are GREAT examples of what I am talking about

First look at all the LIT areas. Than look in the shadows

Clearly the textures and outdoor objects they set up look amazing in the light at certain angles. Must be blending the colors in a more appealing way to my eyes.

Once the light isnt there though..... gets uglier

Batman Arkham Knight was insanely boring with no meaningful exploration, discovery, or immersion. It was a blank world. You can't really compare the two games. No one else is doing what Bethesda games do, not even Witcher 3 is comparable.
 
MGSV being bad open world while you champion the AC series.

A game that for all it's pretty modeling ran like dog shit on consoles and taxed everything but the best PC's. Yea.

Speak for yourself, please. I played The Witcher 3 at 1080p 60FPS on my Core i5, GTX 970 PC on high to very high settings. It's hardly the "best PC".

Kudos to Bethesda for not glassing their teams after they ship their games, cause I can't think of any other reason the people responsible for their graphics still have a job.

Now these ones look nice. And there is nothing in them that the PS4/One cannot do. I do hope that this just does not have a day one patch, or is the PC version on medium with the DS4 plugged in.

I don't see the issue with nothingness. Trying to turn open worlds into giant checklists is terrible.

Silence? What do you want them to say? Game looks fine and I doubt they're scared. Have you seen there games prior to this, and they all sold like hot cakes. I'm sure they're shaking in their boots at the hyperbole.

I said nothing about details that are impossible to lose in compressed photos. Are you really saying this is a good representation of what the actual game will look like? That still photos are a good representation of the fidelity of the game in motion? Sure.

He isn't far off, it other than the character models, it could pass for a remaster.

Dear god. Go actually look at a video of what Fallout 3 looked like. My god.

Funny enough we had the same sort of thread last year when a french gamer leaked some ps4 screens of that game. Some were saying that "It looks worse than AC4." The bolded is right. Although I wouldn't say they're a good representation of IQ.

I don't see the issue with nothingness. Trying to turn open worlds into giant checklists is terrible.
I agree that there's nothing wrong with using large spaces but when the game has an amazing atmosphere, think Red dead redemption or witcher 3, the large empty spaces work to the game's benefit.

Looking at some of the better shots. The IQ on the plants is a dead giveaway that these are PC captures.

Look that the Metal serving buffet thing on the left

Looks out of place in that messy environment. Lacks detail and the color looks completely flat

You have SO many objects in Fallout games and I totally understand why they dont handcraft every single one to fit..... but its that attention to detail in world building that makes each area unique and brings it to life.

Not something I expect to see in an open world game very often though... its a trade off of scale

Uh...looks fine to me. Big step up from Fallout 3 and Skyrim. Of course with things like describing The Witcher 3 as a "buggy mess" and Bethesda games as "unplayable", this sort of over exaggerated response is expected. Sure some textures leave a bit to be desired but there's a lot of detail overall. It's a highly stylized game.

People are tripping so hard. It'd laughable man. Oh the things I could say but won't.

So that's your personal screenshot? It's a stupid comparison anyway. The better comparison is to show a shot of Skyrim versus Fallout 4 since that's the closest tech that Bethesda has.

no one is suggesting the gameplay is bad.
but every defender jumping on the hipster bandwagon where everything that gets good graphics instantly becomes hollow and boring is as bad as the shitposting in this thread.
when 1 or two person teams make better looking stuff ue4 and unity there is no reason for bethesda to not polish their games with that big fat AAA budget regardless of how satisfied their vocal fans act like they are

their shooting mechanics are garbage
their animations are garbage
their graphics are garbage
their Qand A is a hot fudging mess
most of their own games ship filled with game breaking bugs

and yet everyone needs to shut up because gameplay is above all.
they are not gods
they are the people who made the horse armor dlc for a game that could barely keep its shit together and running on consoles.

The art style seems to be better, but the tech looks about the same. Some of the texture quality and polycount appears to be similar to what you would get on last gen. This type of quality would make more sense if the game was shooting for 60fps/1080p.
 
Ouch, yeah this looks pretty bad on those screenshots, but I will reserve full judgement until I see it on my screen. Either way, I am still pretty hyped for this game.

I assume it is as well, but also it isn't something mind-blowing that the PS4 cannot handle. I wonder if parity had a role, considering both consoles are spec'ed the same 1080p/30.

Once disabled the stupid map markers, Witcher 3 hit perfect happy medium for me. Beautiful expansive detailed areas to explore, huge number of meaningful quests, no checklists and fillers.
