divorce imminent sounds like the name of a Halo AI. Perhaps final boss for Halo 6? Topical.
Another terribly titled XB1 thread. Everyone on my friends list is playing it and no one I know in real life buys hard copies of games anymore.
So assuming these numbers are even true

So it's anecdotal that none of the other Halos were available digititally at launch?
So it's anecdotal that none of the other Halos were available digititally at launch?
It's not anecdotal that console digital sales top out at 20% on the higher end, which would still make the title of the thread correct.

So for the digital people, we already have a statement every three months from major third parties that digital on traditional AAA is about 20% on the high end, which would still leave this as the worst selling entry.
Even if we assumed 30% for week one buyers, it would still be the lowest by far.
So you have real non anecdotal evidence that Halo sold no more than 20% digital?
in the UK? that sounds absurd
Only it's not. It's the best Halo game since 3 and maybe the best Multiplayer since 2.
Well it was the better gameWow Reach sold more than Halo 3??
I doubt Microsoft is going to let 343i off the leash to develop their own thing anytime soon. They were assembled to make Halo and Microsoft is probably going to demand the release of a new Halo game every two/three holiday seasons. Ofcourse the consumer interest and quality of such a franchise is going to go down at some point. I could see Gears of War having the exact same problem next year.

Love these. Anecdotal evidence is not proof of anything. You think that might be the case because your friends list is made up of hardcore Halo/shooter fans? There are literally dozens of people on my friends list playing it.

Well I don't really watch it either. Only Football/F1 and a bit of E4 in passing while I eat. So many BLOPS III and Fallout ads and even a few AC: Syndicate a little while ago, but I can't think of a single Halo one I've seen. It's strange because there were so many of them a few months back.

Doesn't Microsoft always mentions something regarding the sales of halo after 24 hrs of release? I wonder what happened this time. Even if the game didn't sell as what people were expecting, I'm pretty sure it still sold very well.

That anyone can look at their friends list and assume it's representative of the entire market is just baffling.
Why? NPD threads only track physical games as well and those numbers are more than valid. We can't start discrediting these things now just because Halo 5 is performing up to par in a certain region.
At least 94% of my friends list is playing it(984ppl) and my circle of friends (all 7 of us) all bought digitally too so there is a real shift.
These sales charts are not even telling half the story any more, it's a new dawn and all you non-digital dinosaurs just don't get it.
Your mad if you think digital isn't drastically outselling physical.
I can name one person out of a friendship group of 10 people who bought Halo 5 physically rather than digital. That's 10/90% split in physical/digital in my friendship group. I'd say it's a similar story in a lot of other peoples.

Cover 20%? Your mad.
Halo 5 best selling game ever, digital sales account for 110%!
So you have real non anecdotal evidence that Halo sold no more than 20% digital?
I thought it was within the first week normally that they announce something. So we have until tomorrow I believe.Doesn't Microsoft always mentions something regarding the sales of halo after 24 hrs of release? I wonder what happened this time. NPD threads are even more inaccurate and meaningless these days as digital seems to be even more popular in the US. These numbers are just not useful and possibly misleading on their own.

Yes, and by all accounts they have all been very well received.
The thing is, Naughty Dog probably gets the leeway to decide things like these. Go in a different direction on a new franchise for a while. They have a proven track record of creating a mindblowing new IP from scratch with TLOU. They'll probably get to do it again.

Mods please change thread title to the much more accurate:
Halo 5; Everyone on my friends list is playing it and no one I know in real life buys hard copies of games anymore
Cause we all know that anecdote is superior to actual hard data.
They made Gears better with Gears 2 and 3. Gears Ultimate proved that and not in the most flattering way.Gears already hit a decline with Gears 2 and 3 in my opinion. They haven't been able to recapture what made Gears 1 great. We'll see what happens with 4. All in all we already heard Phil Spencer say Microsoft will be heavily pursuing new first party IP, didn't we get that thread already? And yet we had people that shat on it as if it was being done because third party games weren't selling high enough on the platform or some shit. There's a theme going on, isn't there?
I think if you were to look at a number of factors with Halo as a franchise: Multiplayer in 4 being disappointing, MCC being broken, not really having a break as a franchise except for 2013... Gears has had Judgment which didn't fare that well but its also had a 2.5 year gap from Judgment to Ultimate Edition (which was well received and worked fine)
I trust Rod in charge of Gears, he has all of the things he looked at for Gears 4 at Epic now with him at The Coalition and Gears Ultimate Edition did well, there may well be a case for Gears 5 to have the same issues Halo 5 did but I think the gap Gears has had will do well for it next year, better than 150k anyway
Please, no. Lets not get started on that. Not the appropriate place for me to tell you that you're crazy. They made Gears better with Gears 2 and 3. Gears Ultimate proved that and not in the most flattering way.
And Halo hasn't been all well received? And actually sold a lot more? This is just another instance of people going fucking bananas prematurely. The franchise has been on a decline since Halo Reach, this has been known. All franchises experience this at some point. But the doom and gloom being spouted is absurd.
Naughty Dog is talented enough to have some type of control but to say they don't have a leash is, well....they just knocked out 4 of the same title in less than 2 whole gens! And TLOU isn't that far of a departure from Uncharted, lets be honest.

Game had to have sold at least 1-2 million copies in the first two days no? World wide?
