NPD Sales Results for October 2015 [Up1: Xbox #1]

Someone at SCEA better be sweating right now that November turns spectacular. Otherwise they need some explaining to do.

Now this is also true. If the PS4 isnt somehow up significantly YoY at a much cheaper price, with better games, and with custom hardware bundles then we really need to ask some serious questions about the state of things.

That said it has to do a million right?

Not really. As long as Sony hits their margins I'm sure they are fine. Not to mention I'm sure they know better than any of us how many preorders they have for the cod and BF bundles

Not sure touching this is a good idea but Zhuge is incredibly smart, does great analytics, and has constructed all his numbers from publicly available info like some kind of data ninja.

Doubt the results if you want, but I would not recommend doubting the guy.
I don't need more confirmation :D

Lol, there's no way ~276k is a win for Sony, no matter how close it is to MS.

While the impending November sales are probably a very likely explanation, you only have to look at the aggregate predictions to remind yourself how poor this month is for sales. I still can't get over it. I expected so much from this price cut. And the PS4 is down from last year. It's crazy.

Perhaps November siphoned off a fair bit of sales from October.

Still, I personally had PS4 at 400K+ for October due to the perceived impact of the price-cut lol

Ps4 didn't have any big games coming out in October, the price drop shouldn't be that big of a difference when everyone is waiting for all the big games in Novemver.

I think we will definitely see the effects of that priced drop this month and the next.

However for Microsoft to only move 300k or so units is disappointing considering Halo is the flagship Xbox title and a big system seller.

If the PS4 is really the market leader in the US, it needs to around what the Xbox One did last November. Better games/bundles, same price and $299 during BF, it needs to do at least that.

Shh... I'm medita... OH FUCK I CANT KEEP IT IN! HALO 5 SUB 1 MILLION?!!!! HOLY SH!T.... I'm getting off neogaf now, this is going too far.

Same, I had it even higher actually. I mean, I expected some siphoning to occur but certainly not anything this drastic.

The PS4 needs to sell like crazy in November.

Agreed on all fronts. Otherwise, there's a problem.

Agreed anything less than 1 million November NPD for the PS4 would be a pretty bad performance imo given the context.

So given MS's statement that Halo 5 brought in $400 million in revenue and we are looking at 1 million at retail, maybe 200,000 digital assuming the average 20%. Maybe 200,000 rest of world since UK only did around 125,000. So we are looking at around $100 million for the actual game and $300 million made from everything else from bundles, controllers, req packs, and special editions. That is pretty crazy.

Too much speculation. He never said what that number was for. If he was banned from here why is he getting so much attention?
Because without creamsugar's real numbers, people will cling to anything that's presented. They're willing to ignore that his excuse for retracting a number he tweeted earlier was because he "misread PR". Which indicates he was doing estimated calculations, not using inside info.

Well, during the nintendo direct, there was a super smash bros FFVII something, I forget. I thought they announced FFVII for nintendo platforms, so I went onto neogaf and instantely showed my excitment. I was wrong... sadly, and I temporarly crashed the site and ignited a few twitter feeds. Long story short, I better start making my speech to beg the mods for my position back in 6 months.

You can be sure the $400m MS told us were shipped (sell in) data.

When you look at it all of Sony cards are in Nov but the $50 price drop ( which rather small after 2 years )
They have been taking pre orders of COD and BF for months and they hitting 299 also .

Yet we have two people in this thread in the know giving us at least hints.

Remember they probably gave sell in numbers not sell through. So software would be a larger chunk than that.

But yeah they must be raking in on cash spent on average per consumer

Wasn't the $400 million for first week sales for Halo 5? NPD wouldn't track the entire first week btw it bled into November.

Just an FYI about that number.

Destiny move more PS4 then Halo move Xbox one, don't know how to process this.

The whole week for Halo 5 is 5 days ending on Oct 31st lol

A whole week would be the next Tuesday, MS would count the first 7 days on sale not the first 5 with that reporting.

Though it honestly doesn't matter, just saying the $400 million was spread further out is all.
