PlayStation Experience 2015 Thread: The Year of Dreams

During the fighting game panel, Ono just said Street Fighter V had a planned lifespan of "five, six, seven years." Was that something they'd previously talked about?

Seems like something that will make the community breathe a sigh of relief, since many were thinking IV might be ending earlier than necessary.

After sleeping on it, I have to say I found the show pretty disappointing. It peaked at the beginning with FFVII then it was just downhill.

as a home viewer i pretty much enjoyed most of it except the disappointing ending. I went into this with very low expectations cause GAF said they wouldnt show shit and save it for E3 but was pleasantly surprised at the reveals.

I'm actually the opposite. I find the conference to be much better now. So many announcements that I'm excited for.

Shit ending though.

The Fighting Game panel was great. They all had interesting things to say, and the bromance between Harada and Ono is the best.

I fully expect Ono to be an unlockable student in Summer Lessons.

I assume we'll get another press conference in February or March. With the launch of PS VR coming up and Sony saying they treat PS VR as the launch of a new hardware platform, it'd definitely make sense to have a dedicated event for it.

Show off the final hardware, announce release date and price and give a rundown on which games will be available at launch.

E3 is probably too late given the first half 2016 release window and they'd probably get some proper flack if they were to dedicate too much time to PS VR at E3. Similarly, just announcing price, date and launch games on the PS Blog feels way too low-key.

I agree; if VR is Sony's new console more or less, they have to treat it like one with a big press conference to announced the following:
-Launch Line-Up
-Pricing
-Support for existing PS4 titles
-New games
-Some heavy hitter titles (maybe Sony Bends games supports it?)
-Release Date

I could also see the event closing with something like this too; "Thank you for coming to our event and I hope you look forward to PS VR :D! But we have some big titles coming to PS4 that support PS VR but do not need PS VR to run. Hope you look forward to them" and then cut to teasers for Crash Bandicoot Reborn and God of War IV.

Overall I loved the conference

Not the biggest action rpg guy but FFVII looked like a perfect blend from the brief glimpse, and just overall is gonna be sweet.

The mentions of vita were nice, at least they acknowledge it I guess lol

Yakuza 5 was hype as I believed it'd either be dropping today or Tuesday.

Then they blew our expectations out of the water with Yakuza Zero. It'll be my GOTY based on what I've heard. Might even beat out Persona 5 (?!)

And Ni No Kuni 2 is a big deal I know, makes me plan on picking up the ps3 original over the holiday.

Odd way to end it but I am really loving Sony's conferences and their Japanese support. 8th gen consoles are working towards getting 7th gen handheld level of support!

I'm surprised that a lot of people expected God of War here.

God of War, along with Uncharted and The Last of Us, is probably one of Sony's three biggest and most anticipated franchises. The new one is therefore probably left of E3 for maximum exposure and hype building.

Also, Crash is inevitable at this point for everyone who is whining about it - once again, though not as big as God of War, it is probably being saved for E3. Revealing both Crash and GoW in the same conference in the future, if they decide to go that route, will please a lot of people.

Ok, this has probably already been stated, but I didn't see it.

The new Free to Play game Guns Up released today, and on the PS Blog post, they posted a code to get 100 Gold in game currency to buy items with. I haven't played the game yet, but I went ahead and downloaded the code.

The code expires TODAY! So if you have any interest, you should redeem it now!

Yep I'm more than satisfied with FF7 footage and the surprise reveal of Yakuza 0 and Ninokuni 2.

I still can't believe no new first-party games were announced. That's fucked up.

Watched it this evening and avoided gaf all day for spoilers. I can not believe no new AAA 1st party games were announced, I am shocked. Its what made the conference so disappointing for me.

Should have renamed the show the Multiplatform Experience.

When people get hyped about paying for backwards compatability on a per game basis and a final fantasy game despite every ff game released in the last decade Sony might as well announce Boyes will shit directly in your mouth for 50 bucks and people would act like it was the golden age of gaming.

Here is the thing. When game developer announce their game early, ppl complain why reveal so early with no gameplay. When they don't reveal anything, ppl still complain. Cant please everyone.

Pretty much every first party dev or partner announced a game.

Everyone but SSM Sony Bend and Sucker Punch.

SCE San Diego:
Guns Up!
Kill Strain
Drawn to Death
MLB 16: The Show

SCE Santa Monica Studio:
Bound
The Modern Zombie Taxi Co.
What Remains of Edith Finch
*New game to be announced*

SCE Japan:
The Tomorrow Children
The Last Guardian
Gravity Rush Remastered
Gravity Rush 2
Everybodys Golf 7

Polyphony Digital:
Gran Turismo Sport

Guerrilla Games:
Horizon: Zero Dawn
RIGS

Quantic Dream:
Detroit: Become Human
Heavy Rain
Beyond: Two Souls

Media Molecule:
Dreams

They dont have unlimited game studios.

Evolution Studios just release bikes and are doing something with VR

If Bend's game isn't ready or has no gameplay to show, then, how are they still an active studio?

It's the *PlayStation* experience. They could have announced something. They went with MLB and that Taxi game.

Fucked it.

A corporate/management decision to not show a game at any event =/= not ready to show.

Scott Rohde and Shu Yoshida have both said the game was playable. It's been in full production for one whole year now, and there are many games that are revealed while they're still in preproduction. Stuff like Bioshock Infinite and Rime, for example.

This is clearly a situation where they decided they didn't want to show it yet. Similar to how Horizon : Zero Dawn's reveal was rumoured to showcase as far back as E3 2014, but instead got pushed to be announced at E3 2015 instead.

Or how Ni no Kuni 2 was planned for an E3 reveal, but instead got pushed to PSX.

Presumably all parties reviewed their line-up of announcements for PSX and what's slated for next year, and Shu decides they don't want to show them at this event.
