Wow amazing. Was just thinking about making a thread on where Kojima would go next, and I was thinking Sony would scoop him up. Can't see what he makes now that he's free from Metal gear.

This. Xbox is only getting JP games that MS is involved with

JP games don't sell well on the console anyway.

MS no longer cares, and their audience mostly doesn't care either.

That's how it is.

Even huge ass games like KH3 and FF15 are only getting the base privilege of being allowed onto the platform, as they have not gotten any real support at all from SE, and every mention of them is for the PS4, even KH 2.8 is never coming to XB1 even though it is the direct prequel.

I can atleast somewhat(somewhat) understand FF15, but KH3 on XB1 is something that will probably be like lighting a lot of money on fire. But the Tomb Raider exclusivity deal shows that SE knows how to do that already

Oh please. There is no way you know that.

Kojima is just starting out again. Why not take advantage of the console that has the biggest market share right now? His new studio is most likely based in Japan and we know how deadpan in the water XB1 is there right now. So yes, it is a conjecture but a logical one that Kojima would approach the Sony platform for his new studio's debut game just as how other studios approached Sony for their game's console debuts.

I don't believe for a second Kojima goes Sony only. Sure PS4/PC first or something like that.

Kojima is probably the most beloved developer, but he makes really expensive games and goes over budget more often than not. Why would Sony heavily invest in a Kojima exclusive game? The risks outweigh the benefits imo and Sony is probably perfectly happy with the first party studios they have. Especially since the new Kojima game almost certainly will also come on Sony consoles.

I'm really interested to see what publisher is going to take the 'gamble' with Kojima. That said, how many publishers can and would fund a AAA-Kojima game?

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
there was no need to confirm his new game will be Timed or Exclusive, that Kojima by Default
The question is will he bother with other platforms now Konami has no say.

If you're a gamer, there's no excuse to not own a PC.

Other than poverty, of course.

Just please be Silent Hills. We probably won't see his next game for another 3 years, but this is still excellent news. And I'm pleased he is working with Sony even if it isn't as a first party.

It's unlikely on the basis they didn't do it when it happened, so presumably the whole setup was around being a PS4 exclusive.

These types of decisions are generally made at the start when the developer feels that they want a PC version.

For example, Helldivers is by the people who made Magicka and made most of their sales on PC, so they presumably told Sony they would only sign if a PC version was allowed.

Adding to your point , Sony knows blood borne and future exclusives from from software will be great in bring ing the pc users in future on PS platforms which has formed quite well on pc

So, what does that have to do with Kojima?
He litereally said he's making games for the global and not for the japanese market.
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articl...-behind-in-technology-gameplay-and-world-view

Global fans have more PS4's and more PC's than XB1 has anywhere.

This is just a matter of sticking close to the big players and where your closest relationships are.

Hence why its the same for every Japanese dev, including the ones still in AAA and AA game development.

Sorry for apparently causing a partial derail, I just meant to express the roller coaster of emotions that sentence gave me.

Overall I am really super excited about this news and so glad Kojima is finally free of that place.

I would think being independent would give him more reason to release on as many platforms as possible, not less.

Or he could choose to release his new game on all 3 systems instead of just one. Kojima doesn't make games just for Japan so X1's state in japan is irrelevant. It is also very possible Sony approached him because he is Kojima and made a timed exclusivity deal happen for his new game just as how Sony has done it for many developers. It really could be either and there is no way to conclude which is true.

Sure if he is paying for his games out of his own pocket, which would be stupid. He basically in the same situation as Remedy, Insomniacs, Quantic Dream etc now based on what I'm seeing.

Good for Kojima.

As far as gaming goes, whether he goes with Sony or decides to go independent, I don't see him releasing anything till maybe 2019. Perhaps 2018 depending on if he has stuff already started.

But even before that, we have to get an actual announcement that a game is being developed.

So it may be a long time before we see something from Kojima again,

Let the legend come back to life!

You're my bro, Kojima. Whatever you make next you're damn sure I'll be behind it.

Interesting part about how he's also bringing former Konami staff with him. A mini-rebellion perhaps?

Kojima is probably the most beloved developer, but he makes really expensive games and goes over budget more often than not. Why would Sony heavily invest in a Kojima exclusive game?

Sony is currently funding a big budget open-world game from Guerrilla. They're a studio who've never made a game that's sold as well as a Kojima directed MGS. They continually give tens of millions of dollars to Quantic Dream to make exclusives for them. You could combine the sales of QD's entire library and it might equal up to what MGS2 sold on its own. So why would Sony give Kojima money to make an exclusive? Well, already explained why.

Makes sense for him to be with Sony. Looking forward to his next game, hoping it will somehow or some way stick it to Konami.
