"Hey guys just so you know, whatever he does next will be ours"

what a strange announcement. What if he doesn't even get around to doing anything any time soon.

Its like dedicated to GAF lol.The vaporware of vaporware.

It's a big PR move. You don't see how it could be significant?

Amazing. Nice to see a visionary like this no longer tied down to a company that was hell bent on stifling him.

And good god Sony's really stepping up with the Japanese gaming support this gen. Gaming finally feels exciting again.

Damn, no more MG?
I hope Sony buys that shit, either way Kojima prolly wants to move on for that shit.

So anyway, the new game will launch exclusively on PS but the franchise will eventually come to other consoles?

Awesome news for PS owners :))) ... Teaser at E3???

I honestly think it'll be at least two years before we ever hear see any hint of his new game. The studio was only recently formed and are probably in the middle of a hiring/brainstorming period for whatever their first project will be. Add on top of that Kojima's tendency to take his sweet time with his games.

They'll probably bring Kojima out on stage next year just to reiterate the partnership - but I doubt we'll get much more than that.

Welp, the megaton label doesn't offer any attribution to the situation.

I called it, and I'm sure many others did

But the point here is that Sony has a huge franchise or game in their future

And most importantly....

KOJIMAS STUDIO IS GOING TO MAKE A PIPE DREAM GAME IN A NEW FRANCHISE WITH NEARLY UNLIMITED FUNDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're crazy if you think that's what this is.

Kojima has a small staff working on a small project with a console exclusivity arrangement from Sony. If he had nearly unlimited funding they would have built his studio from the ground up as an SCE first party studio and said: "go nuts." Instead, he put the studio together himself and the offer he negotiated with Sony is likely giving him some funding to get started.

This year is going in the history books for the record number of groundbreaking announcements.

I'm happy to see this partnership in place already. Can't wait to see the game in action.

I'm hoping this reinvigorates the console market in Japan.

Sony needs to now come out with those first party jrpgs that are supposedly in the works.

The world calls for Wetwork, and Kojima Productions answers.

VIC BOSS! VIC BOSS!

I love that he opens a new studio, and still calls it Kojima Productions (which fair enough, it's the guy's name y'know), almost feels like a proper middle finger to Konami brass.

On topic, it's great to see Kojima already on the path to making incredible games once more!

Not surprising really. Was almost a certainty that he was going to get money thrown at him, was just a matter of who it would be. Sony makes the most sense in that regard too.

Also looks like a good way to get his studio off the ground without mortgaging the future as well.

It's going to be...interesting, to say the least to see what a Kojima with unfettered creative freedom comes up with. It better not be like, Rock Cog Liquid: the Adventures of Gaseous Lizard though.
