Scalebound delayed to 2017

Man, I keep hearing this but I just don't see it--not disliking the design, but specifically using the term "dudebro".

Drew's a scrawny teenage shonen punk. He's not far off from Dante.

It's basically exactly how I imagined an "edgier" DmC Dante would look like under kamiya.

Not dude bro at all. Punk yes.

I'm confused. Where did gamers go?

Every E3, Sony and Microsoft both try to out-announce each other. They both had good showings, but they both also announced games way before their time. Games that we will likely not see for years.

That was my point. It's all about the hype.

Your SonyToo!™ arguments are always terrible.

Phsychologists even have name for that symptome. SonyToo!™ is actually a strategy to deal with cognitive dissonance as it reduces the discomfort those guys experience due to the delay. We Germans have a saying for that: "Woanders ist auch Scheiße!", meaning "somewhere/something else is shit as well".

I personally don't care if Scalebound is delayed. And I don't care if we won't see other announced games like FF7 Remake or Horizon until 2017 either.

My backlog is booked solid. I'd rather have publishers wait on games that aren't ready so we don't have to deal with shit games that require gigs upon gigs of post-release patches.

Delaying games that aren't ready is what we should WANT publishers to do. I'm not here to play listwar, just saying Microsoft isn't the only company who announces their games too early.

Do Germans have a saying for that as well, or should we just call it "the truth"?

Do people actually care? The game was announced Winter 2016, meaning it could have been scheduled for December 29 for all we really know. I mean 2016 now has approximately 3 actually interesting games for me, but I wasn't exactly expecting 2016 to be a good year for actually interesting new games anyways. Eh.

Adding such a new cognition is actually just another strategy to deal with cognitive dissonance.

If it's truth you're looking for, Dr. Tyree's philosophy class is right down the hall.

True. It could have been a short delay. We'll see though. The fact that they didn't give a month on this delay could mean it's a lengthy one. I guess we'll find out at E3...

Scalebound never had a solid release date. Even though many of us believed that it was a 2016 title, it's not technically delayed. It sucks to wait, because the game was one of the most anticipated Xbox One exclusives on this forum. It will probably be an excellent game based on Hideki Kamiya's pedigree.

I suggested that Horizon: Zero Dawn would be an early 2017 release in a different thread. That game also never had a real release date, so I just find it annoying how people keep referring to these new dates as delays.

They announced a Holiday 2016 timeframe just this past August at Gamescom.

If they end up launching in March or whatever that's not so bad. I definitely think this is just a delay for timing (Halo Wars 2 and Gears alone tower over it) and polish.

Next delays (I hope not, but sort of expect)

Quantum Break: 2-3 months into late spring/ early summer
Horizon: delayed to mid 2017 (I really hope not)
GT Sports: 2017
Andromeda: 2017

Not gonna be delayed (anymore): TLG, Mirrors Edge, Deus Ex MD, Ratchet & Clank, Persona 5, NMS

Not dated so cant be delayed (yet): WiLD, Detroit, Dreams (a Beta is scheduled for 2016)

Now I can stop complaining that Scalebound isn't making "games to look out for in 2016" lists.

A delay is way better than a rushed development cycle, so I'm OK with this.

The problem everyone has right now:

Games delayed to this year
Games planned for this year + the likes of COD/Battlefield etc.
3 VR hardware/software launches
Possible new Nintendo system

The problem will be where the fu*k do we release everything. A (big budget) game delayed to 2017 is better than releasing in a crowded market and not selling.

Horizon and GT Sports would be Fall 2016. I do believe one could be delayed, but both? Sony would have no big exclusive for this Fall. Welp.... it's still Sony. :-(

Well their last gameplay showing was pretty telling. The world looked empty, framerate was abysmal and the combat didn't look deep at all. MS announced this one way too early.

All those pre-rendered videos during Xbone's first E3 showed that Microsoft had hardly any content ready and desperately needed something to convince consumers to buy Xbones. Just another reminder of how much of a failure Xbone's launch was.

I'll have to say, I didn't expect this. MS is usually very good with their game lineup schedule.

Damn this was the game I was looking forward to most this year. What does this mean for the GAF most anticipated list?

I doubt it was gonna chart anyway, so probably nothing.

Persona 5's not going to be really delayed, but is going to come out in September, which will piss people off because they barely consider that summer.

Kinda like Smash Bros 3DS.

Problem is MS put all their bets on 2015. 2016 is looking pretty sparse exclusive-wise for Xbone, knowing as we do ReCore is getting a release on PC too.

I remember games like Scalebound, Quantum Break, Crackdown and Phantom Dust were all speculated to be pushed out WAY early in advance for E3 2014, back then Microsoft was desperate to win back fans after the disaster of the year before.

Scalebound in particular there was a rumor about how it wouldn't be ready till 2016, looks like that was an understatement.

I think we may be looking at the last of the of the Xbox One exclusives with Quantum Break, Scalebound, Crackdown, and Gears. Even Phil said that those could come to PC at some point.

And just when do you think gamers will be able to play FF7 Remake, Shenmue 3, and The Last Guardian?

Here's a hint: Not 2016.

I wouldn't bank on that.

That wasn't my argument.

My argument was those games were announced by Sony at E3 early to get gamers back on their side.

Nice try, though.

Don't quit your day job. Armchair psychologist doesn't suit you.

You've certainly got a hard on for me. Normally, I'd say I'm flattered, but with you it just comes off as creepy.

Scalebound was the only game that might have made me buy an XB1, so I guess this gives me extra time for the price to drop.
