First screenshots of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan (Platinum)

Platinum make fun games. This will probably be fun. Korra is easily the worst but that is still 'feels' good. Even if it does feel not as good as everything else they've put out. But this looks more like a Transformers Devastation budget game, and I'm still surprised by how good that game was. So I have faith in our Platinum coated overlords.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
I still need to pick up Transformers Devastation, damn I'm falling behind on the Platinum love.

I didn't even like these designs, but the faces here look better than in this new game lol.

Looks cool but I wish the shadows weren't textures. I wish the style flowed more dynamically. It was an issue I had with the Transformers game too. Looked nice in still shots but the actual in game looked too polygonal and flat. Wish it was more organic like the tv show.

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Can someone at Platinum get rid of those noses before release please? They look shit.

Pretty disappointed with this visually. It's not tickling any nostalgia or excelling in any area. It really looks like a very budget Turtles game with slightly off art direction. Not really up to the usual Platinum snuff tbh.

And I don't want to hear any "b-b-b-b-but thats how the IDW Turtles look!" because many different artists have worked on that title and they've looked a LOT better, Ben Bates run in particular:

I've always said they should have just copied the NECA toy design as they're the defacto nostalgic Turtle design since with coloured headbands they straddle the original comic and the show's action figure packaging:

I'm getting a feeling this game has an even slimmer budget/timescale than Transformers or its just by a group in Platinum that give less of a shit than Saito's chosen squad.

Hideous.

I hate to be a debby downer, but I was really hoping for Nickelodeon TMNT style. Even if they add skin options in the game to switch, that'd be fine. I really don't like the way this looks.

Also, WTF at them wearing headsets with antennas?

Don't forget Guilty Gear Xrd. Arc System Works outclassed even CC2 with that game, 3D close ups that look eerily close to anime, "2D" graphics that makes you forget they're not sprites.
Don't know how I could forget Arc System Works. GG Xrd looks glorious.

Looks good, can't wait. Loved Transformers.

Next, let Platinum work on this.

You jumped in and took this right from my heart didn't you? I would love for this to happen.

As for this TMNT, I am liking what I see so far! (noses being a little speed bump)

In fact i was waiting for a dark themed TMNT all time (Rocksteady style), but because of the Platinum Games, then i am ok with it :D

A Rocksteady's TMNT is the TMNT we deserve.

Platinum combat > Rocksteady combat

Nothing makes you feel more like the character being a bad ass then the combat system Rocksteady cooked up.

Add the Dual switch/combat Rocksteady gave us with Arkham Knight and you have what TMNT should be.

So in that instance RS combat > P*.

Rocksteady and Platinum are both great picks for TMNT, but I'd much rather have Platinum do it if I had to pick. Platinum are just perfect for the kind of colorful, crazy, and humorous style that TMNT embodies.

I don't necessarily want to feel like a "bad ass" or empowered. I want to feel the struggle and progression. I want to feel myself progressing by getting better and better. None of the arkham games offered me this. Platinum combat is exponentially more engaging and fun when you get into it. Rocksteady's combat is a lot more instant gratification granting but it also doesn't have as much space to grow. The highs that Platinum combat reaches are on a whole another league compared to rocksteady combat.

The same can be said about RS combat though. Watch some high level players on YouTube playing Arkham and pulling high combos, mixed variations and not getting hit once.

Either way, players can struggle and progress with both combat styles.

It ain't just about combat when talking RS, their TMNT would have the lore, easter eggs, soundtrack, and great dialogue.

But that's a fantasy, back to the thread.

Me actually playing like a badass and being in absolute control over the badassery happening on screen makes me feel like way more of a badass than the rythem action, simon says button tapping of Rocksteady's games.

Its cool, but I don't want all that flair in a TMNT.

No of course. A game about martial artist mutants shouldnt have the same amount of flair as a game about ass kicking robots.

The things I read on this forum I swear.. .

Im convinced that half of you have no interest in this game but are just bitching because its not a AAA hand-crafted to tickle your nostaliga itch.

That game was never going to happen. People dont give a fuck about turtles like that. Hell I dont think they ever did. Plus activision is never going to give anything not named Call of Duty a decent dev time or budget.

If spiderman, who is by far more popular didnt get anything but a "ok" set of games since the 90's I really dont know how people are expecting miricles with turtles license.

We knew the game was coming from platinum, we knew the game was going to be published by activision. Adjust your expectations.

This game and Transformers Devastation are gorgeous. Has Platinum ever had interviews outlining their particular cel shading work flow? It looks miles beyond everyone elses.

I like PG games. It seems such as T:D. I'm interesting to play this pure action game. I hope it will be a good action game based on TMNT.

Ugly art style. It's a no for me.

Sorry P* but I can't go with this design... even if I knew I probably wouldn't like the design and be alone (yeah I like the TMNT 2012 design... sorry).
