Rumor: GFK Market Research Survey about Nintendo NX leaked

"hello?" "this is vagina"
Fake as fuck. Putting 900p60 as a feature makes zero sense, as a system capable of running at those specs is capable of running at 1080p, 720p or anything in between depending on its complexity. It's not a locked aspect of the hardware.

Hell, the Wii U ran Smash Bros at 1080p60!

What's with the outrage of Nintendo releasing a 900p console when they came out with the 480p only Wii when PS3/360 came out?

This image is making me twitch.

Whenever a game uses "middleware," I expect mediocrity. Just see how poor TLOU looks.
People seem to take this 900p/60fps way too seriously.

Xbox One had mostly 900p games (or less!) in its first year.
It wouldn't take long until 1080p60 will come out on NX.

Also 900p at SIXTY FPS! I'd prefer that over 1080p at 30.
Xbox One doesn't have many 900p (or 1080p) games at 60 fps right now.

What you seem to be FORGETTING is that the Bone is several years old now, same as the PS4, and the NX is 2016 tech and Nintendo's new next gen machine that will be in direct competition with the PS5, Bone 2.

If they are half assing it again and lagging behind even the current machines, the NX will die faster than the Flop U did.

900p for games but 4k streaming for what exactly? NCL has never put out a media focused box so why do it now? Even more so why dedicate resources to a feature that most people don't have the proper display for nor is there a significant amount of content; then have said box not provide that 4K content or 1080p GTFO with this 5th grade leak.

900p would be acceptable if the handheld was also 900p. Maybe thats for the handheld, but 4k is still silly.

Fake

Netflix supports 4K. Nothing silly at all about supporting 4K streaming.

If the 4K thing is true (ps4 is doing 4k video sometime soon, too, right?) - then I need to start looking into 4k tvs soon.

That said - how quickly will I blow through my data cap with that kind of streaming? Do they make 4K blu rays yet? How long before a console will do 4K games?

Fake, on the basis that no one would ever specify something as being designed for a halfway point resolution like 900p unless they were trolling.

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
The 4k video streaming info probably just refers to the capability of outputing 4k@60 video in general. As far as I know, that would mean HDMI 2.0.

And yes, 900p likely refers to some display with that native resolution.

If that info is correct, of course.

Again, that bullet point most likely refers to the handheld unit.

Guys this isn't fake. It's a real survey by a very real company. Doesn't mean all the info is correct tho.

It's like NPD putting out a survey.

They don't have access to the console because they're not a developer or a Nintendo partner.

They're just a market research company.

The 900p/60fps section is so weird. What does that even mean? Is that the minimum? Maximum? Every game ever will run with those specs? Maybe it's just something GFK put there without understanding the implications.

So there's an NX Handheld device that will probably be sold separately? and it "flows" with main console? Interesting.

The rest is expected I guess.

People wondering why this rumor states that the NX runs at 900p max might be a hardware reason; if the NX is a hybrid or dual console, then the handheld will run at half the power/res as the console.

It mirrors how some of the streaming elements on the Wii U work, with the GamePad running at a lower res compared to the Wii U hardware (TV) and even in Co-Op we see this (Hyrule Warriors runs at 420p for each screen, gamepad and TV, when in co-op + half the frame rate).

This rumor might be false, but I could see it being true if the handheld runs at 450p.

4K streaming...what
why
like streaming videos from the internet?
or streaming it from the console to online?
either way...why
That just seems so out of place especially with 900p GAMING! right after

A lot of people are just bad at humor online. That has to be it. That makes far more sense than people even entertaining the thought of there being some weird limit on the next Nintendo console that locks its resolution to lower than some Wii U games.

Sometimes, life is stranger than fiction ;)

Good Art™
Or or or, ... it's the resolution of the new gamepad's screen if there is one!

The only way announcing a rez+fps makes sense is if it's a screen spec.

FWIW, I can't find any evidence that Nintendo is a "client" of GfK.

I think it's more likely that this is speculative market research instigated by GfK themselves—which is much more akin to what they actually do—based off the NX rumours, which would make sense considering it's using the system's codename.

I find it utterly ridiculous that in a year when I'm seriously comparing what 4K OLED TV to buy to replace my 1080p plasma, that I'm still looking at specs for a damn Nintendo console that list 900p as a resolution. I swear, this company.

That is, if true, I don't see anything that makes me convinced this is real, but the fact that it wouldn't surprise me says a ton about how Nintendo has painted themselves the past few generations.

900p makes sense if the games transfer to handheld and that's the handheld resolution. Hopefully it also means a sub-$300 price point.

I wonder if any second/third parties will go with 30fps and push a higher resolution.

Anyone expecting over 900 hasn't been paying attention to the rumors. No offense. If it's 900 for the handheld tho that'd be amazing.

Can't anyone make a survey that looks like that? There are some very talented people out there (remember the Smash Bros fakes?) so this would be easy for a lot of people to make up.

However, the 900p thing makes no sense, Wii U has (I think) aleast 10 games that output at 1080p, with Smash 1080/60.

Lol not buying this at all. Even the bullshit reddit leaker put more effort into his leaks.

This is just regurgitating common speculation with a few oddball resolutions thrown in for "credibility".

Rockefellers. Skull and Bones. Microsoft. Al Qaeda. A Cabal of Bankers. The melting point of steel. What do these things have in common? Wake up sheeple, the landfill wasn't even REAL!
Yep, it's definitely a rebranded/slim Wii U

It makes sense if it's 900 across handheld and console, or if it goes 900 minimum on console.

Are we thinking the handheld will be 900 as well?

You can buy 4K tvs for $330 on Amazon right now. Multiple 4K streaming options exist and more are on the way. Why wouldn't a company support it on a console that is supposed to stick around for the next 5-7 years?

I'm going to wait until I hear the specs from the horse's mouth, so to speak. Wishes:

1) My goddamn VC purchases roll over (lol)

2) No gimmicks needed. I don't want to have to waggle or touch anything or look at a smaller screen. Not that I needed to do it in every case, or that the smaller screen wasn't convenient from time to time, but I felt like gimmicks ruined some games. So, none this time.

3) BC - Would be cool. If they can, great, if not then well...I have old stuff hooked up.

You never know :).

Nintendo said a few times they would never release there games on other platforms and becoming third party would shutter many of there development studios (as they would only focus on a few franchises; Mario, Zelda, Pokemon and maybe one more).

But I could honestly see Nintendo work with Sony or MS within the next 20 or so years at some point.

If this is true, I'll bet that 900p is the resolution of the handheld device. It makes sense, in a strange way, that the system is capped at the resolution of the handheld.
