The Tomorrow Children Beta Announced

Tried it, and admittedly I'm not a fan of build games like this or minecraft style, I did not enjoy it. I might give it another go only because I find the setting and the art direction.

I took the bus out to try and mine, but when I got into the head sine bug/black mosquito looking thing followed me instantly, and seemed to agro me from the opposite side if the huge excavated head. They hit hard and I could barely fight back to I just ran.

Big thanks to anyone who was helping Nikokar to struggle through.

Unfortunately I won't be able to log in for the final test, so good luck comrades!

I was serving a town that I wasn't a resident of nor would it let me become one.

Enlarge the town hall? What town hall??
Wouldn't let me build one either because you need 10 residents. So confused.

Yeah I have to agree I'd like to disable the vignette and at least tone down the DOF. I really like what I got to try of it and I'd love to throw down money on release for it. Only problem is eye strain set in after a couple hours. I don't usually get any problems with it and I'm thinking it might be partly due to the DOF. I'd really like at least a little control over it.

Yeah, the blur/DOF definitely causes a bit eye strain when you play for a prolonged time. Even my friends I played got agitated the last hour over how almost everything on screen is so needlessly blurred out by the overdone DOF.

As I mentioned before, I hope they can make it so that you can see your friends and other players more consistently too in the final game. It kinda sucks when you have a hard time finding your friends in the world because they're invisible most of the time even when you blow the whistle repeatedly.

Maybe have a special item or handshake or something that you can do with friends so that they're prioritized and always/more often visible? (or why not have friends always prioritized and visible for you)

Even though i got hit by the sever full monster today. From the little i played of this game, it's definitely a day zero buy for me. <3

The experience is so different one town to the next. The first own was always barely scraping by, never having any Union shop open for tools etc. second town I went to had three different shop types all in a row, a little orchard out the back and a decent supply of food (wood still a bit low sometimes). We could even craft shells for the turrets (the enemy take a ton of hits to take down)

Its tricky to communicate to get things organised, which is interesting as a game device I think - each town had me feeling different things.

Yeah, the town I was in had started an orchard, then cut it all down after an attack and didn't rebuild it. We ran out of both wood and food.

Really loving it so far.

Possible bug, I got a quest to bring 3 crystal to another town within an hour or so. Problem is the town wasn't showing up on any of the lists, looked at and refreshed them all several times.

Toward the end of the this test it got clustered and frustrating find signs all over the place. Is there a way to get rid of signs? I ended up finding some buildings I could clip the signs through the backside so no one could see them. My ocd makes me want to have my own town though.

Two quick things for now.

Would it be possible to get auto-load on a different button than circle, it was frustrating trying to empty my backpack, but instead picking up some stuff already in the loading area, or having to move around to find the perfect spot.

The other thing, is that I hope the full game will have more populated towns, either by funnelling people towards towns, just having more players, or limiting the number of towns. I didn't really travel between towns, but from the ones I noticed on the list most seemed to be fairly lowly populated. It might not be a problem in the full game, this just being a beta and all, but it seems like towns need more people to get the most out of the game

Played for about an hour. Had no troubles getting in at all.

Started off generating power for the town before helping unload the vast quantities of mined minerals off of the bus returning from one of the islands. Then a giant mecha Godzilla rolled into town and threw meteors at us. We managed to take it down with a barrage of rockets, and it fell to the ground in the middle of town and turned to crystal. Now we are mining its remains for more minerals.

THIS GAME.
That's pretty much how my game went. Except there were 2 Godzilla at once.

Of the 15 minutes I got to play, I think its safe to say I'm going to like the game. I just had no idea what to do after I lost my pickaxe. I tried getting back on for the next 2 hours but the servers wouldn't let me. I'll try to play again tomorrow to see if I can do anything besides stand around in the town wondering what to do.

You can get a "disassembler" tool if you are a resident (from the resident shop, or from the black market) and that lets you take down signs and buildings, which you can then throw into the garbage can to get rid of completely.

Holy shit 105 screens hots in 3 hours, I must have a finger on the share button at all times...

Q-games well done on creating TTC, truly fantastic game.

Also want to add I don't think the demons/dark souls multiplayer ghost thing works all that well in the game. It's cool keep it but let me play with at least 1 friend outside of those boundries.

The DOF blur is way to strong. It's cool I like the effect but tone it down and have a farther draw distance before it kicks in.

The vignette is fine with me on my character but when the camera adjusts for the train is irritating.

Also found myself wanting to pan and look around when I was on the train. But the panning and camera angles a frustrating and pretty much make me focus on the train instead of looking at a dynamic world.

Are their more "islands"/"minesites" that pop up in the full game? I hope so because I'm really loving these crazy and quirky designs and definitely want to see more varied islands and stuff like the sushi island.

I had a different issue but yes they need to be on different buttons. I kept unloading my stuff to pick up items and load it on a bus. I could have sworn yesterday in the town I was in all the stuff in the loading area auto loaded on the train and today we had to place them on it. Kinda confused, or I had some ninja loaders yesterday.

Also annoying having your doll drop when you deposit items.

Disappointed that I couldn't play music whilst playing, maybe it's just because it's a beta?

Also do items dumped from the train dissappear after a while if not transferred to the storing areas?

Pretty sure I was the only person in a town for a while, out farming/mining an island only to come back to a great heap of stuff, although it seemed like there should have been way more.

That's incredibly disappointing... why would you intentionally design an online game like that is about working together with other players/friends?

The fact that I couldn't see my friends most of the time while I played is not fun or adds anything to the game experience in any meaningful way. I do understand if it's more of a technical issue that they can't come around, but if not, it should definitely go.

I bough one and took some stuff down. I didn't know you could get rid of signs with it? I'm pretty sure I tried.

Managed to play for a little bit less than an hour.

Love what I've seen so far, even if it was a bit overwhelming tbh.

Low point though, finally figure out i gotta take a bus to go mine some resources, get on it, arrive at the island. Walk toward it, island vanishes in particles, bus leaves, and I sink and die.

I choose to resurrect right there in order to get back to the bus stop, but the markings for the bus stop have vanished, and I start sinking again ... but then it stops, and I have to hoof it back to the town for about 3 + minutes.

Also, while still in tutorial mode and watching the videos explaining things in town,The town was being assailed by dozens of monsters, which made it difficult/ impossible to do that much.

Not sure if the amount of monsters was deliberate (2 godzillas stomping around, a few spiders nearby, several mosquitoes chsing you around town, and about 5 angels hovering on top dropping bombs on and off it seemed.

Looking forward to tomorrow (the in game schedule says 24th though?)

Do the different trees have different stats? Our first town had trees with green leaves (looked like a bowl with holes in it), and dropped red apples - but not many. The second town had trees with pink branches like long balloons, and they seemed to drop lots of crystal bauble 'fruit'

The longer the trees are left alone, the more fruit they bear, so it could have been that. I don't think the growth rates are different for different types.

Another thing when going to the bus stop i have an option to unload everything onto the floor but was unable to find the same option to unload everything onto the bus itself.

Also agree with above poster about panning the camera while waiting for the bus to leave would be great, could adjust with L1 but couldn't get the right angle I was looking for.

Saplings are one of the very last things on the Workbench list. Costs 5 food to make.

Thanks

helped a brotha out on multiple separate occasions!
Played for an hour and a half before I tried using the subway system to escape the crappy town I was in and going somewhere smaller so I could build a house. Bad idea, ended up getting stuck on a black screen that went nowhere. Rebooted the game and just got stuck in the subway loading/connecting screen that ended in a no connection to server error. Could't get back in during the last hour, hoping I'm able to tomorrow when the servers go live.

That menu music so much blade runner/mass effect vibes loved it!

Fantastic, isn't it.

Loved the whole opening with the subway, too. I adore the whole vibe this game's got going on.

There's no need for it, just unload it into the loading area where it's automatically loaded onto the train when it departs. If you intend to travel back just carry it on you.

I'd be glad to help out whoever takes on the OT-there's a LOT.

I've been trying to put something together for the weekend but it's been pretty insane

Yeah besides the basic controls and knowing my away around, i didn't really know how to properly build/mine? for stuff, or what any of the resources are for. There's certain town elements i was confused about too.

Anyone know what islands have the green ore? Our town lost its russian doll thing and it was damn hard to replace it as we couldnt find that ore. Do certain islands have certain ores as we had the green one thats hollow in the middle and has inner courtyard with trees and the visible ores were in the same place

ps3ud0 8)

I'll try to put up some more of the esoteric stuff later.

The green crystals can only be gotten from killing Izverg (the monsters). One for the mosquitos (although this is random), two for the spiders, 3 for the flying stingrays. The godzilla corpses have crystal deposits inside.

There are mosquito spawners and stationary laser eyes that also turn into crystal when defeated.

I managed to play for the full 3 hours and wasn't bored once, went to an abandoned village when I started and put the first house down and ended the game with 8/10 in the village all chipping away and working well together, a well oiled machine.

Got a nice black market shotgun and cleared out the face shaped structure/cave like a badass, got green crystals from bad guys. I managed to jump up from the lips and mined the hell out of the nostrils.

Day one for me.

Sorry about that, it's a beta, we've never had this many players in the game and we are chasing all these problems up.

It's fine. Stress-testing the servers was the point of this beta, wasn't it?
The final game will need a comprehensive, well-integrated tutorial.

The part about the nostrils made me legit laugh.

Played the entire 3 hours and had a blast. I think I understood most of what was going on, but there were a few things I was unsure of. I'll see what stick out after tomorrow and leave more detailed feedback.

For those with login problems, if you create a dummy account on your PS4 it will be a new saved game and you will go into a different town. Sorry about that. We're obviously looking at this problem and trying to work out what is going on but at least if you do the above you can still play. (just not with your regular account)

I love that you can mine the Godzilla corpses.

Noooo, Godzilla is coming ;_;

If they are using a jetpack or the hovercars they are always visible. However we might allow you to track them conveniently in the future. (not permanently visible but more visible than they are now, we'll have a think about this after we launch)

My roundup of how things went down for me.

Played the whole session, didn't experience any connection issues and I did back out of the game a few times trying to get Spotify to work (it didn't want to) but had no problems reconnecting.

Started in a relatively busy town. Having been told to go to the ministry of work immediately I started looking for it, and looking for it...and looking for it. Thought I was going crazy, I assumed you had to do it as some sort of initiation but it wasn't there. The town didn't have one (presumably destroyed). So i built one, puzzle had me puzzled for a good while.

Went to ministry of work, found it to be pointless as I had done very little work so I went out mining.

Chose a mining spot, started chipping away. Was assaulted by a bee, killed it eventually with my pickaxe, then another came along. Pickaxe broke and I was killed.

Went back to the town to find out how I get a new one, no clues as to how I actually do this. Finally work out I need a union shop but can't build one because of lack of wood. Bumble about for a while waiting for the wood store to build, it keeps getting depleted plus I can't hog the workbench.

Still can't build my house either even though the resident count had gone up by 8, I had been trying intermittently with no luck.

Finally decide to visit another town, so I visit one where a friend is. Buy a pickaxe, get the black market catalogue and try to go back to my original town. I can't. Couldnt see any options for it.

So I choose a new town to make my home, one with relatively low resident count. Apon entering I try to build my house but the resident number was full, make the town hall bigger they say. No town hall in sight...

So I give up with that and go mining/farming. The current island available has an abundance of trees and food. I get a chainsaw and start chopping for what seems like forever. Gather a shit load, go back to the town with 10 mins left of the session. Still can't build a home and can't build a town hall because the town needed 10 residents. Session ended with me confused and still a nomad. Enjoyed it though :)
